Our objective was to determine the effect of level and chemical form of dietary selenium on productivity of beef cows, concentrations of triiodothyronine (T3), and thyroxine (T4) in plasma, and immunoglobulins (IgG and IgM) in plasma and colostrum of cows. Pregnant cows (n = 60) were randomly allocated among four dietary treatments of 20, 60, or 120 ppm Se as selenite and 60 ppm as selenomethionine from selenized yeast (SeY) in salts offered free-choice. Treatments began 90 d prepartum and continued through the second parturition. Treatments did not affect the final body weights of cows or birth weights or weaning weights of calves. At parturition, cows given salt with 20 ppm Se as selenite had lower (P < . 05) concentrations of Se in blood than cows with access to higher-Se salts. Treatments affected (P < .01) the concentration of T3 and the ratio of T3:T4 in plasma of cows. The concentration of T3 in plasma of cows with access to salt with 20 ppm Se was 14% lower than that in cows supplemented with 60 ppm Se as selenite or SeY. Plasma IgG in cows and calves, colostrum, and Se concentrations in colostrum, casein, and whey were lowest (P < .01) for cows given salt with only 20 ppm Se. Thus, salts with concentrations of 60 and 120 ppm Se improved measures of Se status in cows and calves. Consideration should be given to the concentrations of T3 and IgG when determining the nutritional requirements for Se in cattle. 相似文献

Triatoma sordida is the second species of Triatominae considered of epidemiological significance in Bolivia. Associated with Triatoma infestans in various regions, it is as yet the only triatomine species established in human dwellings in localities of Velasco province, Department of Santa Cruz. This domestication is considered as primary. Flagellate parasites were detected in 16.2% of domiciliary T. sordida and the kDNA-PCR confirmed the presence of Trypanosoma cruzi. Frequencies of T. cruzi clonets 20 and 39, common clonets in Bolivian domestic cycle (T. infestans), were established by their direct detection in feces using PCR and hybridization. These clonets present low frequencies in T. sordida and synanthropic mammals. Forty-six stocks were isolated and analysed by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis (MLEE). The MLEE showed a higher clonal diversity than in T. infestans domestic cycle and the genotypes were clustered in the two principal lineages of T. cruzi. Within each lineage, a broad variability was observed. Mixture of genotypes was mostly observed in mammals. The large diversity of T. cruzi in this cycle should be related to its sylvatic origin. Moreover, the current limited sample of stocks suggests a lineage association with specific hosts. 相似文献

NiO single crystals prepared by two crystal growth techniques (zone melting in an arc-image furnace and Verneuil crystallization have been deformed by compression along 001 at temperatures as low as 4.2 K, and the dislocation substructure observed by transmission electron microscopy. The Peierls mechanism has been suggested as the mechanism controlling the mechanical behaviour at the lower temperatures. The dislocations generated at cavities found in the zone-melted crystals may be responsible for the increase of the flow stress of these crystals compared with the Verneuil ones. 相似文献

Zinc Coated Steel/Epoxy Adhesive Systems: Investigation of the Interfacial Zone by FTIR Spectroscopy
The present study takes advantage of the ability of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) for the analysis of ultrathin organic films on metals. FTIR in the reflection mode (IRRAS) is used in order to study the interaction of ultrathin films of dicyandiamide (hardener of most one-pack epoxy resins) with various substrates, model ones such as gold or zinc and industrial ones such as steel and zinc-coated steels.
Pure zinc surfaces and, to a lesser extent, zinc-coated steels are shown to react with dicyandiamide after heating at 180°C, as evidenced by the frequency shift of the absorption band (at about 2200 cm-1) characteristic for nitrile groups. As real systems consist of thick layers of a fully formulated adhesive cured onto a metallic substrate, the direct investigation of such a buried interphase is no longer possible by FTIR and by most of the known spectroscopies. Some mechanically tested specimens are then analysed, after failure, by FTIR microspectrometry. The spectra obtained, corresponding to the fracture initiation zone which is about 100 μm in diameter, advocate for the presence of an ultrathin layer of modified polymer still covering the substrate. 相似文献

After cooling from 140°C, the physical aging of poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA, has been studied at 55, 70, 84, and 90°C by means of temporary microcreep tests. The systematic analysis of recoveries reveals that at 90°C, creep follows successively three different stages. After stress application, creep starts by a logarithmic function of time, while recovery follows exactly the same kinetics. An Andrade creep begins after the logarithmic creep: It is in fact the beginning of the Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts creep with an exponent of 0.36. This creep is fully recoverable, but the duration of this recovery is ~3 times the creep duration. The third stage of creep is superimposed on the Andrade creep and follows a power law in t0.8, but it is not recoverable in the usual duration of experiments. By comparison with the recoverable creep of PMMA studied by Plazek above Tg, which can be fitted by a KWW law with an exponent 0.8, this third creep is interpreted as the beginning of the rubbery deformation. 相似文献

The farnesoid X receptor (FXR, NR1H4) has been recognized as an attractive therapeutic target because it is a nuclear hormone
receptor that controls the expression level of cholesterol-7α-hydroxylase, which in turn regulates bile acid production and
cholesterol excretion. To compare receptor activity between each domain and the full-length protein, human FXR cDNA was cloned
from a human liver cDNA library. Three human FXR cDNA, designated FXR20, FXR33, and FXR53 cDNA, were subcloned and ligated into a pET28a expression vector. Each protein was expressed in Escherichia coli (BL21) and purified by nickel-nitrilotriacetic acid column chromatography. Approximately 5 mg of FXR33 (1–182 amino acids deleted from FXR, 37 kDa) and 2 mg of FXR53 (the full-length protein of FXR, 59 kDa) was purified from 1 L of Luria-Bertani culture, achieving at least 90% purity. The
coactivator recruitment assay for FXR activation was carried out with the three variants of the FXR protein by using dissociation-enhanced
lanthanide fluoroimmunoassay-europium-N1-labeled anti-His antibody. From an optimized assay, a saturated hyperbolic fluorescence signal curve was produced when 250
nM of FXR33 and 100 nM of steroid receptor coactivator-1 peptide, a coactivator of FXR consisting of 26 amino acids, were used with a
concentration dependence on chenodeoxycholic acid (from 0 to 200 μM). The ligand-binding domain of FXR (FXR33) was the most suitable protein for studying the activation of FXR with a fluorescence-based assay, because it showed better

A numerical investigation of a catalytically stabilized thermal (CST) combustor was conducted for a multichannel catalyst
bed, and both the catalyst bed and thermal combustor were simultaneously modeled. The numerical model handled the coupling
of the surface and gas reaction in the catalyst bed as well as the gas reaction in the thermal combustor. The behavior of
the catalyst bed was investigated at a variety of operating conditions, and location of the flame in the CST combustor was
investigated via an analysis of the distribution of CO concentration. Through parametric analyses of the flame position, it
was possible to derive a criterion to determine whether the flame is present in the catalyst bed or the thermal combustor
for a given inlet condition. The results showed that the maximum inlet temperature at which the flame is located in the thermal

Liquid-phase catalytic degradation of waste polyolefinic polymers (HDPE, LDPE, PP) over spent fluid catalytic cracking (FCC)
catalyst was carried out at atmospheric pressure with a stirred semi-batch operation. The effect of experimental variables,
such as catalyst amount, reaction temperature, plastic types and weight ratio of mixed plastic on the yield and accumulative
amount distribution of liquid product for catalytic degradation was investigated. The initial rate of catalytic degradation
of waste HDPE was linearly increased with catalyst amount (4-12 wt%), while that was exponentially increased with reaction
temperature (350-430 ‡C). Spent FCC catalyst in the liquid-phase catalytic degradation of polymer was not deactivated fast.
The product distribution from catalytic degradation using spent FCC catalyst strongly depended on the plastic type. The catalytic
degradation of mixed plastic (HDPE: LDPE: PP: PS=3: 2: 3: 1) showed lower degradation temperature by about 20 ‡C than that
