Lead-cadmium, Zinc-tin and Bismuth-cadmium of (99.99%) high purity eutectic alloys were melted in a graphite crucible under vacuum atmosphere. These eutectic alloys were directionally solidified upward with a constant temperature gradient G and different growth rates V in the Bridgman type directional solidification furnace. The lamellar spacings and microhardness H V were measured from both transverse section and longitudinal section of the specimen. The variations of H V with respect to V and have been determined by using the linear regression analysis method. H V values increase with the increasing values of V and decrease with the increasing values. The Hall-petch type relationships obtained in this work have been compared with the previous works.  相似文献

Connectivity-Guided Adaptive Wavelet Transform based mesh compression framework is proposed. The transformation uses the connectivity information of the 3D model to exploit the inter-pixel correlations. Orthographic projection is used for converting the 3D mesh into a 2D image-like representation. The proposed conversion method does not change the connectivity among the vertices of the 3D model. There is a correlation between the pixels of the composed image due to the connectivity of the 3D mesh. The proposed wavelet transform uses an adaptive predictor that exploits the connectivity information of the 3D model. Known image compression tools cannot take advantage of the correlations between the samples. The wavelet transformed data is then encoded using a zero-tree wavelet based method. Since the encoder creates a hierarchical bitstream, the proposed technique is a progressive mesh compression technique. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a better rate distortion performance than MPEG-3DGC/MPEG-4 mesh coder.  相似文献

The incorporation of selective nanomaterials, such as common metal oxide semiconductor compositions, into resistive-type gas sensors has been shown by many researchers to lead to very high sensitivities and response rates, especially for micro-sized chemical sensors for room-temperature applications. The same strategy utilizing sensing nanomaterials has not been demonstrated for high-temperature sensors due to the intrinsic instability of typical metal oxide semiconductor nanomaterials at temperatures >500 °C. Within this work, doped Gd2Zr2O7 (GZO) nanomaterial compositions were investigated for H2 resistive-type sensors for applications between 600 and 1000 °C. This paper investigates the mechanism of H2 sensing for doped GZO nanomaterials and SnO2/GZO nanocomposites at the elevated temperatures. By integrating 10 vol.% nano-SnO2 into yttrium-doped GZO nanomaterials, a sensitivity of 4.15 % was retained for 4000 ppm H2 levels with a low signal drift of 0.42 %/h at 1000 °C in a 20 % O2/N2 gas stream. The signal drift was reduced by more than half of that compared to pure nano-SnO2 at the same conditions. The nano-GZO limited the grain growth of the nano-SnO2 particles and also prevented the nano-SnO2 from fully reducing to Sn at high temperatures in a low oxygen atmosphere. It is among the first resistive-type sensors operating at 1000 °C with sensing times of <5 min. This demonstration provided an example of a strategy of combining traditional metal oxide semiconductor and refractory nanomaterial compositions to form sensing nanocomposites with new sensing mechanisms, as well as, enhanced chemical and microstructural stabilities in high-temperature environments.  相似文献

Summary Low molecular weight atactic polypropylene (APP) was functionalized with 4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol (eugenol), 4-allyl-1,2-dimethoxybenzene (DMAB), 4-propenylanisole(trans-anethole), cis-2,4,5-trimethoxypropenylbenzene (β-asarone) and 4-allyl-2,6-dimethoxyphenol (ADMP) in the presence of dicumyl peroxide (DCP) at 170°C. Amount of grafted eugenol, DMAB and anethole on APP and characterization of the products were carried by UV-VIS and FTIR spectroscopies respectively. The effects of the reaction time, concentrations of the functional compounds and DCP on the extent of grafting were examined. Bioactive glasses in the systems CaO‐SiO2‐P2O5‐ZnO, CaO‐SiO2‐P2O5‐MgO, and CaO‐SiO2‐P2O5‐MgO‐ZnO were prepared and characterized. Bioactive glass powders were produced by the sol‐gel method. The prepared bioactive glass powders were immersed in a simulated body fluid (SBF) for periods of up to 28 days at 310 K to investigate the bioactivity of the produced samples. Inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopic techniques were used to detect changes in the SBF composition. X‐Ray diffraction (XRD) was utilized to recognize and confirm the formation of a hydroxyapatite (HA) layer on the bioactive glass powders. Microstructural characterizations of the bioactive glass samples were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Density, porosity, and surface area values of bioactive glass powders were also determined in order to characterize the textural properties of the samples. The results revealed the growth of an HA layer on the surface of the bioactive glass samples. MgO in the glass sample increases the rate of formation of an HA layer while ZnO in the glass slows it down.  相似文献

Food quality is directly linked to the food's appearance, texture and flavor. All three components must be in harmony for the food to be considered delicious. Understanding how various textures can be designed requires a comprehensive approach of evaluating food structure, oral processing and sensory evaluation. Oral processing considers the physiological processes in first bite, mastication and swallowing. Sensory stimuli during oral processing are used to determine the acceptance of texture. Recent research has focused on how milk proteins can be used to create desirable textures. Whey protein–polysaccharide mixtures were used to show how microstructure can be manipulated to produce a range of textures and control water release. The importance of microstructure in determining a variety of texture terms was demonstrated in whey protein emulsion gels. Finally, fat content in Cheddar cheese was shown to be critical to producing a desirable breakdown pattern. These and other applications will be discussed.  相似文献

In power electronics, the switching elements are controlled by pulse width modulated (PWM) signals making their currents on and off repeatedly. This might cause electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems especially in switched mode power supplies. One method for mitigating the EMI is to use the frequency modulation technique in the control signal of the switching metal–oxide–semiconductor field‐effect transistor. According to this approach, frequency of the PWM signal is modulated in order to spread its spectrum and hence reduce the EMI levels. The Internet has become essential to all aspects of modern life, and thus the consequences of network disruption have become increasingly severe. It is widely recognised that the Internet is not sufficiently resilient, survivable, and dependable, and that significant research, development, and engineering is necessary to improve the situation. This paper provides an architectural framework for resilience and survivability in communication networks and provides a survey of the disciplines that resilience encompasses, along with significant past failures of the network infrastructure. A resilience strategy is presented to defend against, detect, and remediate challenges, a set of principles for designing resilient networks is presented, and techniques are described to analyse network resilience.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of three different drying methods (freeze drying, oven drying, and vacuum oven drying) on bioactive (total phenolics, total flavonoids, condensed tannin and total hydrolyzable tannin contents, antiradical activity, and antidiabetic activity) and some physicochemical (dry matter, ash, water activity (a w ), color, protein, hydroxymethylfurfural, glucose and fructose content) properties of persimmon fruit were investigated. Simplex lattice mixture design methodology was applied to determine the best solvent mixture for the extraction of phenolics from the samples. It was found that the mixture of acetone:water at the ratio of 50:50 % (v/v) was the best solvent mixture for the extraction. The persimmon powder sample obtained from freeze drying showed significantly (p <0.05) higher bioactivity values than oven- and vacuum-oven-dried samples. Antiradical activity changed significantly depending on the drying method employed and it was superior in freeze-dried samples than that of the other drying methods.  相似文献

Abstract

In this study, formic acid removal from its aqueous solutions through bulk ionic liquid membrane (BILM) was investigated. Tributyl phosphate (TBP) as a carrier in imidazolium-based ionic liquids was used. D-optimal design based on response surface methodology has been applied to investigate the effect of various operating factors. Initial formic acid concentration, TBP concentration, and NaOH concentration were selected as numerical factors, and ionic liquid type was chosen as a categorical factor. The model equations were obtained to determine BILM process behavior. The removal efficiencies, represented by the extraction and stripping efficiencies, were calculated from the experimental data. The highest removal efficiencies were determined at higher concentration values of TBP and NaOH. All ionic liquids studied in this study had good transport selectivity for the removal of formic acid. The design study showed that BILM is an effective method for the removal of formic acid from the water.  相似文献
