The Aerial Refueling Scheduling Problem (ARSP) can be defined as determining the refueling completion times for fighter aircrafts (jobs) on multiple tankers (machines) to minimize the total weighted tardiness. ARSP can be modeled as a parallel machine scheduling with ready times and due date-to-deadline window to minimize total weighted tardiness. ARSP assumes that the jobs have different ready times and a due date-to-deadline window between refueling due date and a deadline to return without refueling. In this paper, we first formulate the ARSP as a mixed integer programming model. The objective function is a piece-wise tardiness cost that takes into account due date-to-deadline windows and job priorities. Since ARSP is NP-hard, two heuristics are proposed to obtain solutions in reasonable computation times, namely (1) modified ATC rule (MATC), (2) a simulated annealing method (SA). The proposed heuristic algorithms are tested in terms of solution quality and CPU time through computational experiments with data randomly generated to represent aerial refueling operations of an in-theater air operation. Solutions provided by both algorithms were compared to optimal solutions for problems with up to 12 jobs and to each other for larger problems with up to 60 jobs. The results show that, MATC is more likely to outperform SA especially when the problem size increases, although it has significantly worse performance than SA in terms of deviation from optimal solution for small size problems. The existence of nanometer-thick amorphous equilibrium films at metal-ceramic interfaces has been experimentally verified for the Au–Al2O3 system. The films were formed using a novel experimental approach, in which thin sputtered films of Au were dewetted on a sapphire substrate which was previously partially wetted with drops of anorthite glass (CaO–2SiO2–Al2O3). High-resolution transmission electron microscopy and qualitative analytical transmission electron microscopy were used to confirm the existence of the amorphous films. In addition, positive and relatively large Hamaker constants were calculated for the Au-film-Al2O3 interface, which indicates the existence of an attractive van der Waals force which stabilizes the film, similar to equilibrium films at grain boundaries in ceramics. A ∼ 1 nm thick surface film was also detected on the (0001) surface of sapphire substrates partially wetted by anorthite glass. The grain boundary mobility of polycrystalline alumina (α‐Al2O3), and the effective grain boundary mobility of the basal (0001) plane as it grew into polycrystalline alumina, was determined for undoped alumina, alumina doped with 23 ppm MgO, and alumina doped with 13 ppm CaO at 1600°C. Doping with MgO at a level below the solubility limit decreased the grain‐boundary mobility from 2.7 × 10?15 to 1.5 × 10?15 m2/s, and doping with CaO at a level below the solubility limit increased the mobility to 3.5 × 10?15 m2/s. For the undoped samples at 1600°C, the activation energy for the average grain boundary mobility was 372 ± 39 kJ/mol. The mobility of the (0001) plane growing into alumina doped with MgO at a level below the solubility limit decreased to 1.1 × 10?15 m2/s compared with the mobility of the (0001) plane growing into undoped alumina (2.5 × 10?15 m2/s), and the mobility of the (0001) plane growing into alumina doped with CaO (below the solubility limit) increased to 3.2 × 10?15 m2/s. The activation energy for the mobility of the (0001) plane was 483 ± 76 kJ/mol. Although a measured Ca excess of 2.6 Ca/nm2 at the boundary between the (0001) plane and CaO‐doped alumina is correlated with an increased mobility, the platelike morphology of CaO‐doped polycrystalline alumina is associated with an increased mobility of nonbasal planes. 相似文献

Shape memory wool fabrics having both temperature and moisture responsiveness were fabricated by a functional nanocomposite treatment comprising of shape memory polyurethane (SMPU) and cellulose nanowhisker (CNW). Water vapor permeability and sweat absorption properties were investigated under different temperature or relative humidity values to test smart comfort capabilities of the treated fabrics. Besides, felting shrinkage and weight loss of the fabrics after repeated washing cycles were investigated for end use performance. It was found out that the wool fabrics functionalized by nanocomposite treatments exhibited dynamic breathability and sweat absorption changing with temperature and relative humidity of body or environment. Moreover, nanocomposite application enhanced rigidity, tear strength, anti-felting and weight loss performances of the wool fabric. 20 wt% CNW concentration can be suggested for thermal comfort, mechanical and end use performance enhancements to obtain smart garments having dynamic responsiveness to both body physiological and environmental changes. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
