The paper presents 30-year experience in treating 158 patients with congenital cystic diseases of the liver and bile ducts. Depending on the pattern of hepatobiliary lesions, the diagnostic value of techniques, such as ultrasound, computerized tomography, scintigraphy of the liver duodenoscopy with THCG was defined. Analyzing the late outcomes provided recommendations for the most optimal surgical management: cystic fenestration and tunneling in hepatic polycystosis, pericystectomy in solitary cysts of the liver, different varieties of bile draining operations in choledochal cysts and Caroli's disease. 相似文献

Increasing use of iron oxide nanoparticles in medicine and environmental remediation has led to concerns regarding exposure of these nanoparticles to the public. However, limited studies are available to evaluate their effects on the environment, in particular on plants and food crops. Here, we investigated the effects of positive (PC) and negative (NC) charged iron oxide (Fe2O3) nanoparticles (IONPs) on the physiology and reproductive capacity of Arabidopsis thaliana at concentrations of 3 and 25 mg/L. The 3 mg/L treated plants did not show evident effects on seeding and root length. However, the 25 mg/L treatment resulted in reduced seedling (positive-20% and negative-3.6%) and root (positive-48% and negative-negligible) length. Interestingly, treatment with polyethylenimine (PEI; IONP-PC coating) also resulted in reduced root length (39%) but no change was observed with polyacrylic acid (PAA; IONP-NC coating) treatment alone. However, treatment with IONPs at 3 mg/L did lead to an almost 5% increase in aborted pollen, a 2%–6% reduction in pollen viability and up to an 11% reduction in seed yield depending on the number of treatments. Interestingly, the treated plants did not show any observable phenotypic changes in overall size or general plant structure, indicating that environmental nanoparticle contamination could go dangerously unnoticed. 相似文献

Psilocybin ( 1 ) is the major alkaloid found in psychedelic mushrooms and acts as a prodrug to psilocin ( 2 , 4-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine), a potent psychedelic that exerts remarkable alteration of human consciousness. In contrast, the positional isomer bufotenin ( 7 , 5-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine) differs significantly in its reported pharmacology. A series of experiments was designed to explore chemical differences between 2 and 7 and specifically to test the hypothesis that the C-4 hydroxy group of 2 significantly influences the observed physical and chemical properties through pseudo-ring formation via an intramolecular hydrogen bond (IMHB). NMR spectroscopy, accompanied by quantum chemical calculations, was employed to compare hydrogen bond behavior in 4- and 5-hydroxylated tryptamines. The results provide evidence for a pseudo-ring in 2 and that sidechain/hydroxyl interactions in 4-hydroxytryptamines influence their oxidation kinetics. We conclude that the propensity to form IMHBs leads to a higher number of uncharged species that easily cross the blood-brain barrier, compared to 7 and other 5-hydroxytryptamines, which cannot form IMHBs. Our work helps understand a fundamental aspect of the pharmacology of 2 and should support efforts to introduce it (via the prodrug 1 ) as an urgently needed therapeutic against major depressive disorder. 相似文献

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to measure binding energies of S 2p electrons of sulphur in S-trithiane, and in anisotropic carbon (heat-treatment temperature 873 K) formed from S-trithiane and from a humic acid derived from a Polish brown coal. A satisfactory technique is to prepare the specimens as a thin film on a gold plate. In all these materials, the sulphur atom environments are identical, corresponding to heterocyclic sulphur, 163.3 eV binding energy. Cryothermia, a new technique for definitive treatment of the pre-excitation syndrome, is described in two patients. The first patient presented with a normal P-R interval with a delta wave and reciprocating tachycardia. Preoperative electrophysiologic study suggested a free-wall atrioventricular connection on the left posterior atrioventricular (A-V) groove. At surgery, epicardial mapping confirmed the site of pre-excitation on the posterior left ventricular (LV) wall. An electrogram arising from the accessory pathway (AP) was recorded at the site of earliest ventricular activation. Interatrial delay combined with an apparently long accessory pathway to the ventricle caused the P-R interval to appear normal. Local pressure abolished pre-excitation. The site of early ventricular activation was cooled to -60 degrees C with a specially designed cryoprobe. All evidence of pre-excitation and arrhythmias disappeared. The second patient presented with a refractory reciprocating tachycardia and was found to have an AP in the septum capable of only retrograde conduction. Retrograde conduction was abolished by applying a temperature of 0 degrees C to the anulus at this site during tachycardia. Conduction over the AP and reciprocating tachycardia returned with rewarming. Ablation of the AP was obtained by applying a temperature of -60 degrees C for 90 seconds on two occasions to the same area. The His bundle was not injured. 相似文献

The hormone content of 72 endocrine tumors was determined by immunofluorescence and their amyloid content was investigated. Seventeen of the 72 tumors contained amyloid. Amyloid was frequently found in tumors producing calcitonin, insulin, or growth hormone, but was rarely found in other tumors. Thus, there is a relationship between the occurrence of amyloid in an endocrine tumor and the type of hormone it produces. The reason for this is not known, but there is evidence that the amyloid fibrils contain proteins related to the hormone produced by the tumors. 相似文献
