A prototype inspection station based on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspection standards was developed for potato grading. The station consisted of an imaging chamber, conveyor, camera, sorting unit, and personal computer for image acquisition, analysis, and equipment control. A sample of 9.1kg (201b) of pregraded potatoes were evaluated in three separate experimental runs to assess the system performance. The system correctly classified 80%, 77%, and 88% of the moving potatoes in the three runs at 3 potatoes/min, and 98%, 97%, and 97%, in three runs of stationary potatoes. Shape analysis was adversely affected by the potato motion, and this contributed to the misclassification error.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to describe oral hygiene factors in infants and toddlers living in Sweden with special reference to caries prevalence at 2 and 3 yr of age and to immigrant status. The study was designed as a prospective, longitudinal study starting with 671 children aged 1 yr. At 3 yr, all the children were invited to a further examination. A total of 298 children, randomly selected from the original group, were also examined at 2 yr. The accompanying parent was interviewed about the child's oral health habits. Children who were free of caries at 3 yr had had their teeth brushed more frequently at 1 and 2 yr of age, had used fluoride (F)-toothpaste more often at 2 yr of age, and had a lower prevalence of visible plaque at 1 and 2 yr of age than children with caries. Immigrant children had had their teeth brushed less frequently, had used less F-toothpaste, and had a higher prevalence of visible plaque at 1 yr of age than nonimmigrant children. Early establishment of good oral hygiene habits and regular use of F-toothpaste seem to be important for achieving good oral health in pre-schoolchildren.  相似文献

The possibilities of using solid-phase microextraction to determine residues of pesticides in honey have been examined. For this purpose, three types of fiber have been assayed: polyacrylate of 85 microns thickness, and polydimethylsiloxane of 7 and 100 microns thickness. They have been applied to the extraction of 21 pesticides of different chemical families. The effects of the temperature, extraction time and ionic strength on the microextraction have been studied, proposing the most adequate for each fiber. Under optimized conditions, precision, intervals of linearity and detection limits were evaluated.  相似文献

Confident adaptive algorithms are described, evaluated, and compared with other algorithms that implement the estimation of motion. A Galerkin finite element adaptive approach is described for computing optical flow, which uses an adaptive triangular mesh in which the resolution increases where motion is found to occur. The mesh facilitates a reduction in computational effort by enabling processing to focus on particular objects of interest in a scene. Compared with other state‐of‐the‐art methods in the literature our adaptive methods show only motion where main movement is known to occur, indicating a methodological improvement. The mesh refinement, based on detected motion, gives an alternative to methods reported in the literature, where the adaptation is usually based on a gradient intensity measure. A confidence is calculated for the detected motion and if this measure passes the threshold then the motion is used in the adaptive mesh refinement process. The idea of using the reliability hypothesis test is straightforward. The incorporation of the confidence serves the purpose of increasing the optical flow determination reliability. Generally, the confident flow seems most consistent, accurate and efficient, and focuses on the main moving objects within the image. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A two-step paradigm for leukocyte recruitment has been established in a number of tissues including the mesentery, skin, and muscle, and necessitates an initial rolling step via the selectins before firm leukocyte adhesion via the integrins. In view of the many inflammatory diseases that involve the liver, we investigated the importance of rolling and the selectins in the hepatic microvasculature and compared the responses to that of the commonly used mesentery or cremaster microvasculature. We visualized the liver microvasculature using intravital microscopy and we determined that within the liver the majority of leukocytes adhere within the sinusoids (80%) in response to a chemotactic stimulus such as FMLP (20% in postsinusoidal venules) whereas leukocytes adhere exclusively within postcapillary venules in tissue like the mouse cremaster. In the sinusoids, the adhesive response to FMLP is not dependent upon selectins inasmuch as adhesion was not reduced in the sinusoidal vessels of P-selectin-deficient mice or E-selectin/P-selectin- deficient animals in the presence or absence of L-selectin antibody. No rolling or adhesion was detected in response to FMLP in the selectin-deficient cremaster microvasculature. Immunoneutralization of selectins with fucoidan in wildtype mice eliminated rolling and adhesion in the cremaster but failed to affect adhesion in the liver sinusoids in response to FMLP. More long-term leukocyte recruitment with lipopolysaccharide (4 h) was also impaired in the cremaster but not the liver microvasculature in selectin-deficient animals. Leukocyte adhesion in the sinusoids was reduced in P-selectin-deficient mice also lacking intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1). This study for the first time demonstrates that selectins are not an essential step for leukocyte recruitment into the inflamed liver microvasculature.  相似文献
