The present study investigates 1085 previously untreated patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck for factors that influence recurrence following treatment with definitive radiotherapy. In the second part of this study, those diagnosed with recurrence were studied with regard to treatment and were further analysed with regard to identification of prognostic factors which may affect outcome in the patient who actually develops a recurrence.  相似文献

A novel chitinase gene of tobacco was isolated and characterized by DNA sequence analysis of a genomic clone and a cDNA clone. Comparative sequence analysis of both clones showed an identity of 94%. The proteins encoded by these sequences do not correspond to any of the previously characterized plant chitinases of classes I-IV and are designated as class V chitinases. Comparison of the chitinase class V peptide sequence with sequences in the Swiss Protein databank revealed significant sequence similarity with bacterial exo-chitinases from Bacillus circulans, Serratia marcescens and Streptomyces plicatus. It was demonstrated that class V chitinase gene expression is induced after treatment of tobacco with different forms of stress, like TMV-infection, ethylene treatment, wounding or ultraviolet irradiation. Two related chitinase class V proteins of 41 and 43 kDa were purified from Samsun NN tobacco leaves inoculated with tobacco mosaic virus. The proteins were purified by Chelating Superose chromatography and gel filtration. In vitro assays demonstrated that class V chitinases have endo-chitinase activity and exhibit antifungal activity toward Trichoderma viride and Alternaria radicina. In addition, it was shown that class V chitinase acts synergistically with tobacco class I beta-1,3-glucanase against Fusarium solani germlings.  相似文献

A full profile X-ray powder diffraction structure refinement has been carried out on a sample of synthesized CuGaTe2 using graphite monocromatized CuK step-scan data and a profile shape of the Pearson VII type. The most satisfactory convergence was achieved at R p = 0.0666, R wp = 0.0884, R B = 0.0106 and R F = 0.0102. The derived structural parameters at 26.5°C are: a = 0.602348(7), c = 1.193979(2) nm and x(Te) = 0.256(6). The ratio between lattice parameters, = c/2a = 0.9911 (0), differs from 1.0, indicating a tetragonal distortion, and non-ideal anion displacements, x(Te)1/4, is manifested by the existence of bond alternation of Cu-Te and Ga-Te with interatomic distances of 0.262(5) and 0.2578(5) nm, respectively. These results show a light tetrahedral deformation produced by four-fold tetrahedra of the copper cation in the CuGaTe2 chalcopyrite-type structure.  相似文献

A simple and mathematically tractable model of a nonstationary process is developed.The process is the sum of waves where the parameters of the waves are random. Explicit expressions for the mean and autocorrelation function at each position as a function of time are obtained.In the case of infinite time, the model evolves into a stationary process. The time-frequency distribution at each position is also obtained. An explicit example is given where the initial waves are Gaussian. The case where there is dispersion in the propagation is also discussed.  相似文献

In a study of the enlargement of pores of coals it has been found that treatment of a bituminous coal (PSOC No. 371, from the Pennsylvania State University Coal Section) with a 5:95 O2:N2 stream 4 h at 400 °C increases the surface area as measured by nitrogen adsorption at 77K by a factor of at least 50 to a value 52 m2 g?1. The increase in pore size was accompanied by a 9.7% weight loss. Simultaneously, the area as measured by carbon dioxide at 195K increased from 61 to 136 m2 g?1 and that measured by carbon dioxide at room temperature increased from 125 to 237 m2 g?1. Attempts to enlarge the pores by oxidation with hydrogen peroxide or ozone were unsuccessful. A Pittsburgh coal subject to a small percentage of oxygen in nitrogen or steam at 300 to 400 °C showed a surface area as measured by nitrogen adsorption of less than 1 m2 g?1 both before and after such pretreatment. This same coal with a 5:95 O2:N2 stream for 4 h at 450 °C showed a surface area of 110 m2 g?1 measured by nitrogen adsorption at 77K.  相似文献

The cuticular hydrocarbon components of four castes ofReticulitermes virginicus (Banks) have been identified and quantitated. Components identified includen-alkanes; 2-, 3-, 11-, 13-, and 15-methyl-alkanes; 11,15-dimethylalkanes, (Z)-9-alkenes; (Z,Z)-7,9-dienes; and (E/Z)-6,9-dienes ranging in carbon number from C21 to C40. All caste forms ofR.virginicus contained the same components, but showed caste-specific proportions. Comparison of these hydrocarbons with those of the sympatric termiteR. flavipes (Kollar) suggest that cuticular hydrocarbons might serve as species- and caste-recognition cues. A bioassay was developed to test this species-recognition hypothesis, with the experimental results supporting the hypothesis.Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae.  相似文献

Vapour-phase reactions of, in situ, prepared formaldehyde with methyl propionate were studied using X, Y and ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts. Base properties of these zeolites were enhanced by KOH or NaN3 treatment. The niobium and molybdenum ZSM-5 zeolite supported oxides were also tested for their catalytic activity. The results are discussed in terms of an ability of zeolite catalysts to synthesize methyl methacrylate.  相似文献

The attrition mill is a device for mechanically reducing solid particle size by intense agitation of a slurry of material being milled and coarse milling media. For example, in 10 hours of milling, specific surfaces of 40 and 25 m2/g were obtained for alumina and barite, corresponding to 38 and 56 nm equivalent spherical diameter, respectively. Size reduction rates for relatively coarse particles were first-order and increased linearly with power input to the mill. Optimum milling medium concentration corresponded to medium particles moving a distance of approximately 0.7 of their diameter before collision with another such particle. Power characteristics of the attrition mill were essentially the same as those of a radial flow turbine mixer. Laminar flow became disrupted at NRe ≈ 200, while turbulent flow was established at NRe > 8000. Slurries of fine powders exhibited the same linear power-average density dependence as single-phase liquids. However, a different dependence was observed with large particles.  相似文献

In this paper, we describe a procedure for the processing of SiC-whisker-reinforced MoSi2 composites via tape casting. Based on the characteristics of SiC whiskers and MoSi2 powder in aqueous and nonaqueous solvents, a slip formulation (solvent, dispersant, binder, etc.) has been developed. The formulation developed allows for a uniform distribution of SiC whiskers in the matrix, easy separation of the tapes from the polymeric carrier, convenient control of both tape thickness and orientation of SiC whiskers, and a low binder burnout temperature. The latter is important for the prevention of the oxidation of MoSi2 powder during the binder burnout in an oxidizing atmosphere.  相似文献

The results of conversion determinations on the products from Powhatan No.5 coal liquefied in an autoclave and in a high-pressure, high-temperature e.s.r. cavity are reported. Oil, asphaltene and preasphaltene yields, and overall conversion have been determined for Powhatan No.5 coal samples liquefied in tetralin, SRC-11 heavy distillate, and naphthalene at temperatures from 400 to 480 ° C in both reactor systems. The concept of reaction severity is introduced and used to formalize the relation between the effect of temperature and reaction time on oil yield and conversion. Oil is the predominant product in liquefaction in tetralin or naphthalene, asphaltene is the major product of liquefaction in SRC-II heavy distillate. Retrogressive reaction (THF-insoluble product formation) becomes severe when SRC-II heavy distillate is the liquefaction solvent and residence time of >10 min are used at temperatures >450 °C. Preasphaltenes appear to be the only intermediate species in Powhatan No.5 liquefaction.  相似文献
