The wide implementation of low-NOx combustion technologies in pulverized coal combustion can lead to higher levels of carbon in fly ash and increase the adsorptivity toward surfactants of the carbon. Consequently, the air entraining agent (AEA) requirements of the fly ash used for concrete production increases, which can complicate the stabilization of entrained air. In this study, a low-NOx tangential fired 875 MWth power plant burning bituminous coal have been operated under extreme conditions in order to test the impact of the operating conditions on fly ash adsorption behavior and NOx formation. It was found that the AEA adsorption of the fly ash was reduced up to five times compared to reference operation, when the plant was operated with minimum furnace air staging, three levels of burners instead of four and without recycled flue gas. The lower AEA requirements of the fly ash at these conditions were primarily caused by a reduction in total carbon content, while the AEA adsorptivity of the residual carbon was lowered to about 60% of reference value. The tested operation mode, however, increased the NOx level in the flue gas before the DeNOx plant by 60% compared to reference operation.  相似文献

The discovery of novel ligands for the hPEPT1 transporter is reported. By exploiting a fast and rigorously validated QSAR model in combination with the distance in activity‐centered chemical space (DACCS) approach, a database of commercially available compounds (Sigma–Aldrich) was screened for virtual hits. Twelve compounds were then purchased and characterized in an apical [14C]Gly‐Sar uptake competition assay. Four compounds displayed affinity in the medium‐to‐high range. A simple benzophenone derivative displayed high affinity with a sub‐millimolar binding constant (Ki=0.24 mM ). The results of this study will serve as starting points for future projects, including the design and synthesis of compound libraries that seek to systematically explore the fundamental requirements for binding and transport by hPEPT1.  相似文献

A high performance asymmetric electrochemical supercapacitor with a mass loading of 10 mg·cm?2 on each planar electrode has been fabricated by using a graphene-nickel cobaltite nanocomposite (GNCC) as a positive electrode and commercial activated carbon (AC) as a negative electrode. Due to the rich number of faradaic reactions on the nickel cobaltite, the GNCC positive electrode shows significantly higher capacitance (618 F·g?1) than graphene-Co3O4 (340 F·g?1) and graphene-NiO (375 F·g?1) nanocomposites synthesized under identical conditions. More importantly, graphene greatly enhances the conductivity of nickel cobaltite and allows the positive electrode to charge/discharge at scan rates similar to commercial AC negative electrodes. This improves both the energy density and power density of the asymmetric cell. The asymmetric cell composed of 10 mg GNCC and 30 mg AC displayed an energy density in the range of 19.5 Wh·kg?1 with an operational voltage of 1.4 V. At high sweep rate, the system is capable of delivering an energy density of 7.6 Wh·kg?1 at a power density of about 5600 W·kg?1. Cycling results demonstrate that the capacitance of the cell increases to 116% of the original value after the first 1600 cycles due to a progressive activation of the electrode, and maintains 102% of the initial value after 10000 cycles.   相似文献

Glycomacropeptide (GMP), arising from the cleavage of κ-casein by chymosin or pepsin, has been correlated with a wide variety of biological activities including immunosuppression capacity, inhibition of pathogen invasion, and induction of satiety. Due to the interest in exploiting such potential of GMP, we aimed at characterizing the immunogenic properties of GMP as an indication of its potential allergenicity. Immunogenicity of κ-casein and GMP were investigated using 2 animal models based on different routes of immunization: 1) mice immunized intraperitoneally or subcutaneously with either κ-casein, polymerized GMP, GMP coupled to the immunogenic carrier ovalbumin, or GMP alone; 2) mice coadministered κ-casein or GMP and cholera toxin. The specific antibody response to GMP was evaluated as well as the antigen-specific T-cell response. The results demonstrated that immunization or feeding with κ-casein induced GMP-specific antibodies, whereas GMP per se lacked immunogenicity independently of the mode of presentation. The size of the presented form of GMP did not influence its immunogenicity. Because the results showed that GMP did not induce a specific T-cell response, we postulate that GMP lacks the ability to stimulate antigen-specific T cells.  相似文献

A series of 16 tricyclic thrombin inhibitors was prepared by using the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides derived from 3- or 4-hydroxyproline and 4-bromobenzaldehyde, with N-(4-fluorobenzyl)maleimide as the key step. The terminal pyrrolidine ring of the inhibitors was systematically substituted to explore the potential bioisosteric behavior of C-F, C-OH, and C-OMe residues pointing into the environment of the catalytic center of a serine protease. X-ray crystal structure analyses revealed a distinct puckering preference of this ring. Substitution by F, HO, and MeO has a strong effect on the basicity of the adjacent pyrrolidine nitrogen center which originates from two sigma-inductive pathways between this center and the electronegative O and F atoms. gem-Difluorination decreases the pKa value of this tertiary amine center to <2, making the conjugated ammonium ion a moderately strong acid. Unexpectedly, F substitution next to the nitrogen center reduced the lipophilicity of the ligands, as revealed by measurements of the logarithmic partition coefficient log D. The biological assays showed that all compounds are thrombin inhibitors with activities between Ki=0.08 and 2.17 microM. Bioisosteric behavior of F, HO, and MeO substituents was observed. Their electronegative F and O atoms undergo energetically similar polar interactions with positively polarized centers, such as the N atom of His 57 which is hydrogen bonded to the catalytic Ser 195. However, for energetically similar polar interactions of C-F, C-OH, and C-OMe to occur, sufficient space is necessary for the accommodation of the Me group of the C-OMe residue, and a H-bond acceptor must be present to prevent unfavorable desolvation of the C-OH residue.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Whereas a number of studies have investigated the putative role of environmental toxins in the pathogenesis of idiopathic Parkinson disease, the possibility of such a role in multiple system atrophy has received little attention. DESIGN AND SETTING: Review of records of patients examined in the Parkinson's Disease Center and Movement Disorder Clinic, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Tex, from July 1, 1977, to February 4, 1998. PATIENTS: We reviewed 100 consecutive medical records of patients who satisfied the diagnostic criteria for multiple system atrophy formulated by the Consensus Committee of the American Autonomic Society and the American Academy of Neurology. INTERVENTION: The type and amount of toxin exposure were verified by history and examination of records whenever possible. Severity of parkinsonism was assessed by clinical rating scales. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Development of multiple system atrophy after environmental toxin exposure. RESULTS: Eleven patients had a notable history of heavy exposure to environmental toxins. One patient with multiple system atrophy confirmed by postmortem evaluation was exposed to high concentrations of malathion, diazinon, and formaldehyde, while the other patients with multiple system atrophy had well-documented high exposures to agents including n-hexane, benzene, methyl isobutyl ketone, and pesticides. The case studied pathologically demonstrated extensive advanced glial changes, including glial cytoplasmic inclusions in deep cerebellar white matter, brainstem, cortex (superior frontal, insula) and putamen, with notable cell loss and depigmentation of the substantia nigra and locus ceruleus. CONCLUSION: While many studies report a possible role of environmental toxins in Parkinson disease, such a role is even more likely in multiple system atrophy, as this is a sporadic disease.  相似文献

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) responses require major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-restricted recognition of peptide fragments by conventional CD4(+) helper T cells. Immunoglobulin G responses to glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)- anchored protein antigens, however, were found to be regulated in part through CD1d-restricted recognition of the GPI moiety by thymus-dependent, interleukin-4-producing CD4(+), natural killer cell antigen 1.1 [(NK1.1)+] helper T cells. The CD1-NKT cell pathway regulated immunogobulin G responses to the GPI-anchored surface antigens of Plasmodium and Trypanosoma and may be a general mechanism for rapid, MHC-unrestricted antibody responses to diverse pathogens.  相似文献

A lumped circuit model for calculating voltages and currents on all-dielectric self-supporting (ADSS) fiber optic cable near high voltage transmission lines has been developed. The model has been used to show that contamination levels, tower attachment points, relative ADSS and conductor sag and electrical phasing of the conductors are important parameters and must be considered in calculations, especially when determining the possibility of dry band arcs which could lead to cable damage  相似文献
