Kinetic studies for the non-isothermal decomposition of unirradiated and γ-irradiated silver acetate with 10(3) kGy total γ-ray doses were carried out in air. The results showed that the decomposition proceeds in one major step in the temperature range of (180-270 °C) with the formation of Ag(2)O as solid residue. The non-isothermal data for un-irradiated and γ-irradiated silver acetate were analyzed using Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) and nonlinear Vyazovkin (VYZ) iso-conversional methods. These free models on the investigated data showed a systematic dependence of Ea on α indicating a simple decomposition process. No significant changes in the thermal decomposition behavior of silver acetate were recorded as a result of γ-irradiation. Calcinations of γ-irradiated silver acetate (CH(3)COOAg) at 200 °C for 2 hours only led to the formation of pure Ag(2)O mono-dispersed nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction, FTIR and SEM techniques were employed for characterization of the synthesized nanoparticles.  相似文献

This study presents new experimental results on the direct conversion of crude oil to chemicals via steam-enhanced catalytic cracking. We have organized the experimental results with a kinetics model using crude oil and steam co-feed in a fixed-bed flow reactor at reaction temperatures of 625, 650, and 675°C over the Ce-Fe/ZSM-5 catalyst. The model let us find optimum conditions for crude oil conversion, and the order of the steam cracking reaction was 2.0 for heavy oil fractions and 1.0 for light oil fractions. The estimated activation energies for the steam cracking reactions ranged between 20 and 200 kJ/mol. Interestingly, the results from kinetic modelling helped in identifying a maximum yield of light olefins at an optimized residence time in the reactor at each temperature level. An equal propylene and ethylene yield was observed between 650 and 670°C, indicating a transition from dominating catalytic cracking at a lower temperature to a dominating thermal cracking at a higher temperature. The results illustrate that steam-enhanced catalytic cracking can be utilized to effectively convert crude oil into basic chemicals (52.1% C2-C4 light olefins and naphtha) at a moderate severity (650°C) as compared to the conventional high-temperature steam cracking process.  相似文献

Rusts comprises the largest natural group of plant pathogens including approximately 8% of all described Fungi. Rust fungi are extremely plant pathogens responsible for great losses to agriculture productivity. Rust species belong to several genera among which more than half are Puccinia species. In Pakistan, rust causes severe damage to agriculture crops. Current study was carried out to identify and characterize different rust species common in the research area through microscopy and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Morpho-anatomical investigation of each collected rust species was carried out using different standard protocols. The dimensions of spores were measured and snapped under a stereomicroscope. SEM was used to examine the shape, size, and ornamentation of the spores of each rust fungus. Results revealed documentation of seven rust fungi, that is, Melampsora euphorbiae, Phragmidium barclayi, Puccinia nepalensis, P. exhausta, P. menthae, Uromyces capitatus, and Uromyces decorates belong to four different genera, were recorded. SEM revealed that spermogonia and Aecia were missing in most of the rust fungus studied. Uredinia was found in a scattered, irregular, lengthy, and epidermis-enclosed form. Urediniospores were found to be ovulating, elongated, echinulate, globose to sub-globose, ellipsoid to ovoid, and globose to sub-globose. Telia was found as sub-epidermal, amphigenous, dispersed, minute, and spherical cells. Teliospores ranged in form from cylindrical to oblong. The germ pores were detected in both apical (top cell) and basal (bottom cell) idiosyncratic and pedicel-attached cells. The techniques used in the current investigation will aid mycologists in rust identification and microscopic characterization.  相似文献

This paper describes an empirical study undertaken to investigate the quantitative aspects of the phenomenon of requirements elaboration which deals with transformation of high-level goals into low-level requirements. Prior knowledge of the magnitude of requirements elaboration is instrumental in developing early estimates of a project’s cost and schedule. This study examines the data on two different types of goals and requirements - capability and level of service (LOS) - of 20 real-client, graduate-student, team projects done at USC. Metrics for data collection and analyses are described along with the utility of results they produce. Besides revealing a marked difference between the elaboration of capability goals and the elaboration of LOS goals, these results provide some initial relationships between the nature of projects and their ratios of elaboration of capability goals into capability or functional requirements.  相似文献

As part of the programme on monitoring of environmental contaminants in food stuffs in Kuwait, 54 samples of fresh full cream and skimmed milk, powdered milk, yoghurt, and infant formula were analysed for aflatoxin M 1 (AFM 1 ) by HPLC following sample clean up using immuno-affinity columns. Of samples, 28% were contaminated with AFM 1 with 6% being above the maximum permissible limit of 0.2 μg l -1 . Three fresh cow milk samples collected from a private local producer showed the highest level of 0.21 μg l -1 AFM 1 . There was no contamination with AFM 1 in powdered milk and infant formulas. These results show the necessity of a survey involving a larger number of milk and its products and suggest that presently the contamination of milk and milk products with AFM 1 does not appear to be a serious health problem in Kuwait. Nevertheless, a continuous surveillance programme may be warranted to monitor regularly the occurrence of aflatoxins in the animal feeds responsible for current limited contamination and to note rapidly any worsening in the situation that may depend on market changes or on unfavourable climatic developments.  相似文献

The Gulf Countries' environmental conditions are very severe. The temperature zoning study indicate that more than half of Gulf areas experience a maximum seven consecutive days pavement temperature of 76°C (Al-Abdul Wahhab et al., 1997). This has resulted in damage to the road networks in the form of cracking, rutting and deformation. Polymer modification of asphalt is required to increase the resistance to permanent deformation at relatively high temperatures without adversely affecting the properties of the asphalts at low temperature. In this work chemical and performance-related properties of fresh, oxidized, and polymer modified asphalts were evaluated. The physical properties and performance characteristics of asphalts were found to depend on the chemical composition of asphalt. The interactions of polar functionalities actually present or formed during oxidative aging or due to polymer modification, influence the viscosity and related flow properties. The changes in composition of fresh, oxidized and polymer-modified asphalts can be clearly identified from Infrared spectroscopy. NMR spectroscopy enables detailed information about the Carbon-and-hydrogen-types and average molecular/structural parameters of asphalt without separating it into different components.  相似文献

The reaction of methyl 4-oxo-trans-2-octadecenoate with 3-mercaptopropan-1,2-diol (1-thioglycerol) affords methyl 4-(3′-hydroxymethyl-1′,4′-oxathiolane)-2(3)-(O-mercaptopropan-1″,2″-diol)-octadecanoate (II), methyl 4-oxo-2(3)-(O-mercaptopropan-1′,2′-diol)-octadecanoate (III), methyl 4-(3′-hydroxy-l′,5′-oxathiane)-2 (3)-(S-mercaptopropan-1″,2″-diol)-octadecanoate (IV), methyl 4-oxo-2(3)-(S-mercaptopropan-1′, 2′diol)-octadecanoate (V) and methyl 4-(3′-hydroxymethyl-1′, 4′-oxathiolane)-2(3)-(S-mercaptopropan-1″, 2″-diol)-octadecanoate (VI). Modification of zeolite H-Y by dithiane oxides (2-R-1,3-dithiane 1-oxide, R = H, CH3, C6H5) is shown to enhance significantly its activity for the acid-catalysed gas phase dehydration of butan-2-ol. The rate enhancement is observed for catalysts that are prepared using two commercial samples of zeolite H-Y. The origin of this effect is examined using in situ FTIR spectroscopy and 27Al and 29Si MAS NMR spectroscopy studies of the modified zeolite. The rate enhancement is considered to result from a specific interaction between the dithiane oxide modifier with both the extra-framework and framework aluminium in the zeolite. The last-observation-carried-forward imputation method is commonly used for imputting data missing due to dropouts in longitudinal clinical trials. The method assumes that outcome remains constant at the last observed value after dropout, which is unlikely in many clinical trials. Recently, random-effects regression models have become popular for analysis of longitudinal clinical trial data with dropouts. However, inference obtained from random-effects regression models is valid when the missing-at-random dropout process is present. The random-effects pattern-mixture model, on the other hand, provides an approach that is valid under more general missingness mechanisms. In this article we describe the use of random-effects pattern-mixture models under different patterns for dropouts. First, subjects are divided into groups depending on their missing-data patterns, and then model parameters are estimated for each pattern. Finally, overall estimates are obtained by averaging over the missing-data patterns and corresponding standard errors are obtained using the delta method. A typical longitudinal clinical trial data set is used to illustrate and compare the above methods of data analyses in the presence of missing data due to dropouts.  相似文献
