This paper proposes hybrid classification models and preprocessing methods for enhancing the consonant-vowel (CV) recognition
in the presence of background noise. Background Noise is one of the major degradation in real-time environments which strongly
effects the performance of speech recognition system. In this work, combined temporal and spectral processing (TSP) methods
are explored for preprocessing to improve CV recognition performance. Proposed CV recognition method is carried out in two
levels to reduce the similarity among large number of CV classes. In the first level vowel category of CV unit will be recognized,
and in the second level consonant category will be recognized. At each level complementary evidences from hybrid models consisting
of support vector machine (SVM) and hidden Markov models (HMM) are combined for enhancing the recognition performance. Performance
of the proposed CV recognition system is evaluated on Telugu broadcast database for white and vehicle noise. The proposed

problems, when the precedence constraints are “treelike”—i.e., when the undirected graph underlying the precedences is a
forest. These are the first non-trivial generalizations of the job shop scheduling problem to scheduling with precedence constraints
that are not just chains. These are also the first non-trivial results for the weighted completion time objective on unrelated
machines with precedence constraints of any kind. We obtain improved bounds for the weighted completion time and flow time for the case of chains with restricted assignment—this
generalizes the job shop problem to these objective functions. We use the same lower bound of “congestion + dilation”, as
in other job shop scheduling approaches (e.g. Shmoys, Stein and Wein, SIAM J. Comput. 23, 617–632, 1994). The first step in our algorithm for the R|prec|C
max problem with treelike precedences involves using the algorithm of Lenstra, Shmoys and Tardos to obtain a processor assignment
with the congestion + dilation value within a constant factor of the optimal. We then show how to generalize the random-delays
technique of Leighton, Maggs and Rao to the case of trees. For the special case of chains, we show a dependent rounding technique
which leads to a bicriteria approximation algorithm for minimizing the flow time, a notoriously hard objective function.

Parametric methods of classification assume specific parametric models for competing population densities (e.g., Gaussian population densities can lead to linear and quadratic discriminant analysis) and they work well when these model assumptions are valid. Violation in one or more of these parametric model assumptions often leads to a poor classifier. On the other hand, nonparametric classifiers (e.g., nearest-neighbor and kernel-based classifiers) are more flexible and free from parametric model assumptions. But, the statistical instability of these classifiers may lead to poor performance when we have small numbers of training sample observations. Nonparametric methods, however, do not use any parametric structure of population densities. Therefore, even when one has some additional information about population densities, that important information is not used to modify the nonparametric classification rule. This paper makes an attempt to overcome these limitations of parametric and nonparametric approaches and combines their strengths to develop some hybrid classification methods. We use some simulated examples and benchmark data sets to examine the performance of these hybrid discriminant analysis tools. This paper presents an algorithmic approach to the problem of detecting independently moving objects in 3D scenes that are viewed under camera motion. There are two fundamental constraints that can be exploited for the problem: 1) two/multiview camera motion constraint (for instance, the epipolar/trilinear constraint) and 2) shape constancy constraint. Previous approaches to the problem either use only partial constraints, or rely on dense correspondences or flow. We employ both the fundamental constraints in an algorithm that does not demand a priori availability of correspondences or flow. Our approach uses the plane-plus-parallax decomposition to enforce the two constraints. It is also demonstrated that for a class of scenes, called sparse 3D scenes in which genuine parallax and independent motions may be confounded, how the plane-plus-parallax decomposition allows progressive introduction, and verification of the fundamental constraints. Results of the algorithm on some difficult sparse 3D scenes are promising. 相似文献

Blair et al. (2001) developed an extension of logic programming called set based logic programming. In the theory of set based logic programming the atoms represent subsets of a fixed universe X and one is allowed to compose the one-step consequence operator with a monotonic idempotent operator O so as to ensure that the analogue of stable models in the theory are always closed under O. Marek et al. (1992, Ann Pure Appl Logic 96:231–276 1999) developed a generalization of Reiter’s normal default theories that can be applied to both default theories and logic programs which is based on an underlying consistency property. In this paper, we show how to extend the normal logic programming paradigm of Marek, Nerode, and Remmel to set based logic programming. Most fingerprint-based biometric systems store the minutiae template of a user in the database. It has been traditionally assumed that the minutiae template of a user does not reveal any information about the original fingerprint. In this paper, we challenge this notion and show that three levels of information about the parent fingerprint can be elicited from the minutiae template alone, viz., 1) the orientation field information, 2) the class or type information, and 3) the friction ridge structure. The orientation estimation algorithm determines the direction of local ridges using the evidence of minutiae triplets. The estimated orientation field, along with the given minutiae distribution, is then used to predict the class of the fingerprint. Finally, the ridge structure of the parent fingerprint is generated using streamlines that are based on the estimated orientation field. Line integral convolution is used to impart texture to the ensuing ridges, resulting in a ridge map resembling the parent fingerprint. The salient feature of this noniterative method to generate ridges is its ability to preserve the minutiae at specified locations in the reconstructed ridge map. This paper addresses the problem of matching vehicles across multiple sightings under variations in illumination and camera poses. Since multiple observations of a vehicle are separated in large temporal and/or spatial gaps, thus prohibiting the use of standard frame-to-frame data association, we employ features extracted over a sequence during one time interval as a vehicle fingerprint that is used to compute the likelihood that two or more sequence observations are from the same or different vehicles. Furthermore, since our domain is aerial video tracking, in order to deal with poor image quality and large resolution and quality variations, our approach employs robust alignment and match measures for different stages of vehicle matching. Most notably, we employ a heterogeneous collection of features such as lines, points, and regions in an integrated matching framework. Heterogeneous features are shown to be important. Line and point features provide accurate localization and are employed for robust alignment across disparate views. The challenges of change in pose, aspect, and appearances across two disparate observations are handled by combining a novel feature-based quasi-rigid alignment with flexible matching between two or more sequences. However, since lines and points are relatively sparse, they are not adequate to delineate the object and provide a comprehensive matching set that covers the complete object. Region features provide a high degree of coverage and are employed for continuous frames to provide a delineation of the vehicle region for subsequent generation of a match measure. Our approach reliably delineates objects by representing regions as robust blob features and matching multiple regions to multiple regions using Earth Mover's Distance (EMD). Extensive experimentation under a variety of real-world scenarios and over hundreds of thousands of Confirmatory Identification (CID) trails has demonstrated about 95 percent accuracy in vehicle reacquisition with both visible and Infrared (IR) imaging cameras. 相似文献

A theoretical expression is derived for the pressure generated in the sodium-filled cracks of -alumina under electrolytic conditions by treating the flux of sodium ions to the cracks in terms of the Laplace equation for the appropriate boundary conditions. It is demonstrated that the pressure generated decreases with increasing crack length for a given current density in contrast to the predictions of some investigators. It is suggested that some other factors must be considered if the microfracture model via Poiseuille pressure is to be a viable mechanism for electrolyte degradation. 相似文献
