Simulations based on multi‐scale material models enabled by adaptive sampling have demonstrated speedup factors exceeding an order of magnitude. The use of these methods in parallel computing is hampered by dynamic load imbalance, with load imbalance measurably reducing the achieved speedup. Here we discuss these issues in the context of task parallelism, showing results achieved to date and discussing possibilities for further improvement. In some cases, the task parallelism methods employed to date are able to restore much of the potential wall‐clock speedup. The specific application highlighted here focuses on the connection between microstructure and material performance using a polycrystal plasticity‐based multi‐scale method. A simple synthesis of polymer core-dendrimer shell nanoparticles (NPs) in the 15-20-nm-diameter range is presented. Amine-terminated polypropyleneimine (PPI) dendrimers DAB-dendri-(NH(2))(4) and DAB-dendri-(NH(2))(16) (DAB4 and DAB16) are covalently attached to the surface of primary polystyrene-based NPs bearing reactive chlorobenzyl groups produced by microemulsion polymerization in the presence of a cationic surfactant. The grafting readily proceeds under mild conditions and leads to translucent aqueous suspensions of core-shell-type NPs with a high density of peripheral amine groups that have been characterized relative to their size and chemical composition. The dendritic shell acts as a protective ionizable outer layer and provides an improvement of the colloidal stability in neutral and acidic media. The metal-binding capacity of the PPI dendrimers is retained, and spectrophotometric titrations show that the dendrimer-grafted NPs can trap a large number of Cu(2+) ions (more than 900 Cu per NP-DAB16). These properties make them potentially valuable templates for the elaboration of hybrid nanomaterials. The reactivity of the external amine groups is used to link covalently azobenzene chromophores (disperse Red 1 residues) through aza-Michael addition in aqueous suspension. This simple method gives access to colored NPs with high dye contents in the outer layer (up to 1000-1500 dye molecules per NP), which indicates that dendrimer-functionalized NPs are valuable building blocks for the construction of multifunctional nanomaterials.  相似文献

MIPAS-B2 is a balloon-borne limb-emission sounder for atmospheric research. The heart of the instrument is a Fourier spectrometer that covers the mid-infrared spectral range (4-14 microns) and operates at cryogenic temperatures. Essential for this application is the sophisticated line-of-sight stabilization system, which is based on an inertial navigation system and is supplemented with an additional star reference system. The major scientific benefit of the instrument is the simultaneous detection of complete trace gas families in the stratosphere without restrictions concerning the time of day and viewing directions. The specifications, the design considerations, the actual realization of the instrument, and the results of characterization measurements that have been performed are described.  相似文献

By using dorsal contacts and pinning to quantify play behavior in juvenile rats, it was found that the D? agonist, quinpirole, reduced both measures of play at doses greater than 0.05 mg/kg. Eticlopride, a D? antagonist, also reduced both measures of play and blocked the reduction caused by quinpirole. The effect of quinpirole on play was largely unaffected by concurrent administration of either a D? agonist (SKF 38393) or a D? antagonist (SCH 23390), suggesting that D? and D? receptors are functionally independent with respect to play behavior. Quinpirole also reduced overall activity, suggesting that the effects on play may not be selective to neural circuitry responsible for play behavior. Although low doses of quinpirole (0.001–0.03 mg/kg) had a tendency to increase pinning, this effect was not very robust. Following the suggestion that therapeutic change is accelerated in time-limited psychotherapy, this study investigated the across-session patterns of session impact in the treatments of 117 depressed clients who were randomly allocated to 8 or 16 sessions of cognitive-behavioral (CB) or psychodynamic-interpersonal (PI) therapy. After each session, all clients completed the Session Evaluation Questionnaire and 75 of the clients completed the Session Impacts Scale. Session ratings indicated that sessions were perceived increasingly positively on most impact dimensions (e.g., session depth and smoothness, relationship with the therapist, feelings of understanding and problem solving, postsession positive mood) as treatment progressed. Early in treatment, PI therapy sessions were less smooth (i.e., more tense and uncomfortable) and less focused on problem solving, but PI sessions changed more rapidly than CB sessions on these dimensions, so that later in treatment, sessions of both treatments were equivalently positive. In both treatments, the trend toward more positive sessions was more rapid (i.e., the across-session slope was steeper) in 8-session treatments than in 16 session treatments. The majority of accidents in hazardous activities are caused by human error. This problem is not new, and a good deal of research, application, and development of practical techniques for the analysis, prediction and reduction of human errors or their negative effects, has occurred in a range of industries. Whilst human error within flight operations has for some time been the centre of exhaustive research and debate, a similar analysis within the field of air traffic management (ATM) is not so comprehensive. Therefore, it may be that ATM can learn from other industries.This paper deals with an approach to ATM incident analysis that is being developed in the European ATM arena. This new approach aims to determine how and why human errors are contributing to incidents, and thus how to improve human reliability within a high-reliability system. This developing approach is called ‘HERA’ — Human Error in ATM Project.The paper reports on a formative part, or phase 1, of a project that reviewed the theoretical and practical literature to determine the best conceptual framework upon which to base an ATM incident analysis tool. The conceptual framework chosen is that of human performance from an information processing perspective, which has been adapted to make it more contextually relevant to ATM. A prototype structure was adopted for a technique with which to analyse ATM incidents.
