In this paper we present a packet scheduling method which guarantees bandwidth of the connection and optimizes revenue of the network service provider. A closed form formula for updating the adaptive weights of a packet scheduler is derived from a revenue-based optimization problem. The weight updating procedure is fast and independent on the assumption of the connections’ statistical behavior. The features of the algorithm are simulated and analyzed with and without a call admission control (CAC) mechanism. We also show in context with the CAC procedure a mechanism for guaranteeing a specified mean bandwidth for different service classes. 相似文献

Quantum phase slip (QPS) is the particular manifestation of quantum fluctuations of the order parameter of a current-biased quasi-1D superconductor. The QPS event(s) can be considered a dynamic equivalent of tunneling through conventional Josephson junction containing static in space and time weak link(s). At low temperatures T<<T c, the QPS effect leads to finite resistivity of narrow superconducting channels and suppresses persistent currents in tiny nanorings. Here, we demonstrate that the quantum tunneling of phase may result in Coulomb blockade: superconducting nanowire, imbedded in high-Ohmic environment, below a certain bias voltage behaves as an insulator. 相似文献

Residual stresses are quantitatively predicted based on the Barkhausen noise measurement with a partial least squares regression model. The measurements are taken from two sets of case-hardened samples. The benefits of using certain feature elimination strategies prior model identification are also studied. The elimination methods applied are correlation-based elimination, uninformative variable elimination and successive projections algorithm. The results show that the best predictions are usually obtained when the successive projections algorithm is applied. The prediction accuracy of the best models found shows that partial least squares models can be successfully used for prediction of material properties based on the Barkhausen noise measurement. 相似文献

Reduction of dead weight of a reinforced-concrete (RC) structure without too much concession in its load carrying capacity
has always been an attractive study subject because it engenders (1) a decrease in dimensions of the members, (2) a decrease
in the reinforcement steel, and (3) a decrease in lateral inertia forces during severe earthquakes. In this study, nine RC
beams of outer dimensions of 300 × 300 × 2000 mm, six of which are box beams, designed and produced using a C20 class steel
fiber concrete, (SFRC) with the commonly used steel fiber type of Dramix-RC-80/0.60-BN at a dosage of 30 kg/m3, are tested under bending. The mechanical behaviours of all these nine beams under bending are recorded from the beginning
of the test till the ultimate failure of the tensile reinforcement in a two-point beam-loading setup. The proportions of (1)
loss in ultimate load versus reduction in dead weight and (2) (ultimate experimental load)/(ultimate theoretical load) of
the SFRC box beams are determined for two different box thicknesses. Dimensionless behaviour relationships of all the SFRC
beams are determined, and the experimentally obtained relationship between the ratio of (actual ultimate load)/(theoretical
ultimate load) and the ratio of (wall thickness)/(beam height) for the SFRC box beams is expressed diagrammatically. 相似文献

Transportable equipment for on-site thermal nondestructive testing is described. The equipment is constructed from two separate
units: a hand-held infrared line scanner and a remote unit containing all the necessary control devices. The sample surface
is heated by manually scanning a line source over the surface and the resulting surface temperature rise is simultaneously
measured with the line scanner. The heating line is generated either by a line-focused laser beam or by a radio frequency
induction coil. The obtained surface temperature distribution of the monitored area is presented as a pseudo-color image.
The feasibility of the method is demonstrated with a carbon-glass fiber composite sample. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy of various medications in the prevention of recurrent febrile seizures. STUDY DESIGN: A meta-analysis of all published randomized, placebo-controlled trials of the preventive treatment of febrile seizures published in English; 45 articles were found, but only 9 trials were randomized and placebo-controlled--4 using phenobarbital; 3, diazepam; 1, pyridoxine; and 1, phenytoin. In one of the phenobarbital trials, valproate was also compared with placebo. RESULTS: The risk of recurrences was significantly lower in children receiving continuous phenobarbital therapy than placebo (odds ratio 0.54, 95% confidence intervals 0.33 to 0.90, p = 0.017). The odds ratio for recurrences in the valproate group was 0.09, 95% CI 0.01 to 0.78, p = 0.011. No difference in the risk was found for recurrences between children receiving intermittent diazepam and placebo (odds ratio 0.81, 95% CI 0.54 to 1.22, p = 0.31). The risk for recurrences in children receiving pyridoxine or phenytoin did not differ from the risk among children receiving placebo. Four children would have to be treated with valproate (95% CI 2 to 11) or eight children would have to be treated with phenobarbital (95% CI 5 to 27), continuously, to prevent one febrile seizure. CONCLUSIONS: Because both agents found to be effective in prevention of recurrent febrile seizures have known adverse effects, prophylaxis of febrile seizures cannot be recommended. 相似文献

A method for bone strain estimation is examined in this article. The flexibility of a single bone in an otherwise rigid human
skeleton model has been studied previously by various authors. However, in the previous studies, the effect of the flexibility
of multiple bones on the musculoskeletal model behavior was ignored. This study describes a simulation method that can be
used to estimate the bone strains at both tibias and femurs of a 65-year-old Caucasian male subject. The verification of the
method is performed by the comparison of the results with other studies available in literature. The results of the study
show good correlation with the results of previous empirical studies. A damping effect of the flexible bones on the model

This correspondence presents a relaxation of some earlier linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions, which allow setting up less conservative stability or performance conditions for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models. Unlike the previous literature, this correspondence takes into account the knowledge of the membership functions' shape by considering bounds on them and their cross products (interpreted as an overlap measure), introducing auxiliary LMI variables. In this paper, studies on steam condensation and aerosol behaviour in a heat exchanger are presented. The heat exchanger is a model of one single tube of a Passive Containment Condenser (PCC) that is used in the European Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR). A hot carrier gas containing nitrogen and steam with Ag and CsOH particles flows through the heat exchanger. The walls of the heat exchanger are cooled with a water jacket, thus causing steam condensation and diffusiophoretic particle deposition. The amount of condensed steam is measured, as well as the temperatures, particle mass concentrations and size distributions before and after the heat exchanger. The experiments are done with different proportions of steam and nitrogen in the carrier gas. Heat and mass transfer in the system are modelled with well known engineering correlations, producing results that agree nicely with the experimental results. The diffusiophoretic particle deposition velocity is shown to be proportional to the steam condensation rate, as expected. 相似文献

Monitoring level of consciousness or depth of sedation is essential in modern intensive care units and emergency rooms. Current methods are based on spontaneous EEG providing only indirect information on the reactivity of the brain. Measurement of auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) has been shown to have additional potential for evaluation of the level of consciousness. Unfortunately, compact and easy-to-use devices are not commercially available. In this study a portable battery-powered device for clinical auditory ERP measurements was designed, constructed and validated. The device consists of a five-channel data logger and a 16-bit stereo audio stimulator. The signals are digitized with a 22-bit sigma-delta analogue-to-digital converter and stored to a PC Card hard disk. Prior to the in vivo application, the device was validated with extensive technical tests. Importantly, the RMS noise amplitude of the EEG channels was found to be less than 1 mivroV and the delivered auditory stimulus intensity corresponded accurately the settings (mean difference 0.2+/-0.5 dB). In addition to technical tests the device was successfully validated in vivo. To summarize, a novel portable instrument for measurement of auditory event-related potentials in intensive care environment is introduced. 相似文献
