In analogy with the established discipline of room acoustics, various aspects of diffuse wideband microwave propagation in a room are treated. It is shown that an equivalent to Sabine's equation for reverberation time in a room is valid for the completely diffused field, depending only on the volume, the surface area, and an effective absorption coefficient. An exponential decay of the power as a function of the delay is a consequence of the assumptions. Furthermore, the concept of a reverberation distance is also valid. This is the distance from a transmitting antenna where the received diffuse, randomly scattered power equals the direct line-of-sight received power, such that the diffuse power dominates for distances larger than the reverberation distance. A number of measurements in a large room support the theory with an effective absorption coefficient of 0.5. The power delay profiles around the room from a transmitter in the ceiling vary only in the first arriving part of the impulse, whereas the tail, being dominated by the diffuse field, has the same power level for a given delay and the same decay rate all over the room. It is also a consequence of the theory that the diffuse fields incident on an antenna are uniformly distributed in angle.  相似文献

We demonstrate endless polarization stabilization with a control speed of up to 9 krad/s, over random Poincare sphere trajectories. These are in total >35 Mrad long, are composed in particular of difficult-to-track circles with all radii and orientations, and thereby include all possible worst cases. The maximum polarization mismatch and relative intensity errors are 0.13 rad and 0.43%, respectively. The controller runs on a field-programmable gate array and uses a commercial multistage LiNbO3 polarization transformer as the control device.  相似文献

Polarization-insensitivity is achieved in a reflective spatial light modulator by laying a quarter-wave plate (QWP) at the incident wavelength directly over the mirror pixels of a silicon backplane, and forming a nematic Freedrickcz cell over the QWP to modulate the reflected phase. To achieve the highest drive voltage from the available silicon process, a switched voltage common front electrode design is described, with variable amplitude square wave drive to the pixels to maintain constant root-mean-square drive and minimize phase fluctuations during the dc balance refresh cycle. The silicon has been fabricated and liquid-crystal-on-silicon cells both with and without the QWP assembled; applications include optically transparent switches for optical networks, beam steering for add-drop multiplexers for wavelength-division-multiplexing telecommunications, television multicast, and holographic projection.  相似文献

As electrochromic device (ECD) emerges into the market, the necessity of cost reduction via high-throughput manufacturing is unavoidable. Inorganic monolithic ECD has compatibility in its manufacturing steps, allows continuous processing and hence low-cost ECD. A roll-to-roll (R2R) production is the industrial standard for high-throughput processing and was chosen to synthesize ECD on polymeric substrates. Preliminary success by implementing methods compatible to the aforementioned R2R processing has been achieved; however, continuous test-runs on an R2R machine are still limited.  相似文献

Ultrasound backscattered signals for object detection could be too weak to be perceived when superposed to strong reflection signals, and could also be complicated either in time or frequency domain. These peculiarities raise a challenge for signal processing methods. In this paper four signal processing methods were studied to detect objects in containers. Root mean squares (RMS) method was better in object detection but needed to combine other methods to increase detection success rate. Variance, center frequency pressure ratio (CFPR) and backscattered amplitude integral (BAI) methods have similar overall detection ratings. The optimal signal size, to increase the detection ability, corresponded approximately to the length of reverberation signals before it was dissipated.  相似文献

La doping effects on intergrowth Bi2WO6–Bi3TiNbO9 ferroelectric ceramics were studied by X-ray diffraction, electron probe microanalysis and dielectric spectroscopy. It was found that the La3+ distribution, ferroelectric phase transition and dielectric relaxation behavior are apparently affected by La doping. With increasing La3+ content, the site of dopant ion varies, the grain growth of Bi5TiNbWO15 is restrained, the Curie temperature is reduced and broadened. Furthermore, two dielectric relaxation loss peaks were observed both in temperature and frequency spectra. The calculated relaxation parameters revealed the oxygen vacancy related to the relaxation process.  相似文献

The evolution of Al2O3-CaO inclusions on molten steel surfaces and at molten steel/slag interfaces was observed in-situ through a confocal scanning laser microscope (CSLM) equipped with a gold-image furnace. Depending on the slag chemistry, some of the initially liquid inclusions evolved into irregular Al2O3 or SiO2-enriched inclusions during the separation across the interface. Inclusions were found to cluster at specific locations at the steel/slag interface. Unlike capillary-depression-driven clustering, which is observed on molten steel surfaces, a weak repulsive force opposes fluid-flow-driven clustering at the steel/slag interface. After clustering, the irregular solid inclusions were observed to agglomerate to form large aggregates. An unpackaged microchip is used as the sensing element in a miniaturized gaseous proportional chamber. This letter reports on the fabrication and performance of a complete radiation imaging detector based on this principle. Our fabrication schemes are based on wafer-scale and chip-scale postprocessing. Compared to hybrid-assembled gaseous detectors, our microsystem shows superior alignment precision and energy resolution, and offers the capability to unambiguously reconstruct 3D radiation tracks on the spot.  相似文献
