Studies were undertaken on the isolation and identification of reaction products of ammonium nitrate phosphate (ANP) fertilizers containing 30, 50 and 70 per cent water-soluble phosphorus (WSP) of total phosphorus in representative soils of the vertisol, oxisol, alfisol, entisol, mollisol and aridisol groups of India. ANP fertilizers were applied in solid form to soil, and reaction products formed at and around the site of ANP fertilizer placement were identified after six weeks incubation in moist soils by X-ray diffraction technique. DCPD (dicalcium phosphate dihydrate- CaHPO4 · 2H2O) was the major reaction product of ANP fertilizers containing 30 and 50 per cent WSP in vertisol, entisol, aridisol, mollisol, oxisol and alfisol, and of ANP containing 70 per cent WSP in vertisol, entisol, alfisol, aridisol and mollisol. DCP (dicalcium phosphate-CaHPO4) was detected with ANP of 30 and 50 per cent WSP in the vertisol, alfisol, entisol, mollisol and aridisol groups of soils. In addition to DCPD, FePO4 · 2H2O (metastrengite) and AlPO4 · 2H2 O-monoclinic (metavariscite) were formed in alfisol and oxisol soils with ANP of 30 and 50 per cent WSP. FePO4 · 2H2O and AlPO4 · 2H2O (metavariscite) were identified in alfisol and oxisol soils while AlPO4 · 2H2O-orthorhombic (variscite) was formed in alfisol soils with ANP of 70 per cent WSP. 相似文献

The effects of intranasal syringing with 5% zinc sulfate were assessed in rats trained in a wind-tunnel olfactometer to detect the presence of an odor or to discriminate odors of graded intensities. The syringing produced a severe but brief interference in olfactory performance. Full recovery of detection performance occurred within 72 hr after treatment. Initial recovery of odor intensity discrimination occurred in 2-8 days and full recovery within 8-10 days. These results suggest that intranasal syringing with ZnSO4 is not an adequate control for the effects of anosmia produced by olfactory bulbectomy. 相似文献

This research was designed to follow up the observation of Thornton and Kraemer ('51) that regressed, denervated limbs of Ambystoma larvae will not regenerate upon reinnervation if all digits on the limbs were not completely resorbed. The object of this experiment was to determine whether the presence of an apical structure, protruding past the amputation surface, would affect the regenerative process. Both forearms of adult newts were amputated midway between the elbow and the wrist. One limb served as a normal regeneration control, and in the other limb the third digit from the removed hand was implanted in place of the removed radius, so that the three distal phalangeal segments protruded past the plane of amputation. Blastema formation in the experimental limbs was delayed by several weeks as compared with control limbs. Approximately one third of the experimental limbs did not regenerate. The regenerates that did form were strongly deviated (45-90 degrees) radially from the longitudinal axis of the limb. Experimental analysis showed that the delay in regeneration is due largely to the projecting part of the digit. The radial deviation of the regenerates is not due to the digital implant, but rather to the removal of the radius. Trauma alone does not account for this phenomenon. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Recent judicial decisions involving informed consent have led to some medical practitioners altering the way they obtain consent. The aim of this study was to determine the degree to which patients understood the risks associated with a surgical procedure after giving routine consent and whether providing additional detailed verbal and/or written information improved their understanding. It was further determined whether the provision of more extensive information altered patients' anxiety levels. METHODS: Patients undergoing femoral popliteal bypass or carotid surgery were randomized to obtain either routine consent only or routine consent with verbal or written or verbal and written consent. Patients undertook a pre-operative risk and complication questionnaire, a pre- and postoperative anxiety and depression evaluation and a follow-up questionnaire 6 weeks after discharge. RESULTS: Thirty-two patients were included in the trial. The comprehension questionnaire resulted in a correct percentage response of 48% for the routine information only, 59% with added verbal information, 59% with added written information and 55% with added written and verbal information. Twenty-five per cent of patients stated that they had a poor understanding of the risks and complications of the procedure. CONCLUSIONS: Additional written or verbal information did not improve a patient's understanding of risks and complications of the procedure. It also did not improve patients' perceived understanding of the operation or its complications. Patients' anxiety levels were unaltered by the increase in the information they were given. The information provided to patients should be simple, easy to understand and list any possible major complications to enable the patient to determine whether to undergo or decline a procedure. 相似文献

In preparation for an efficacy trial of PRP-T Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine, 251 Gambian infants were randomized to receive three doses of PRP-T and diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP) vaccines at 2, 3 and 4 months of age, either by separate injections, or combined in the same syringe. One month after the third dose, there was no difference between anti-PRP levels in those infants who received the vaccines separately (GMT 5.83 micrograms ml-1), and those who received the vaccines combined (GMT 5.57 micrograms ml-1). The proportions achieving levels of 1.0 microgram ml-1 were 89% and 92% in the "separate" and "combined" vaccine groups, respectively. There were no significant differences between groups in levels of antibody to diphtheria or tetanus. Geometric mean titres of antibody directed against pertussis antigens in the "separate" and "combined" groups were as follows: pertussis toxin 14.2 and 13.1 ELISA units (EU) ml-1; filamentous haemagglutinin 12.2 and 9.7 EU ml-1; pertactin 17.2 and 9.0 EU ml-1 (P < 0.05), fimbrial 2/3 antigens 449 and 364 EU ml-1. The combination of PRP-T and DTP in the syringe prior to administration is safe and immunogenic. The lower levels of anti-pertussis antibody are of unknown clinical significance. 相似文献

An analysis of the physiology, morphology, and position of endplates on identified fibers in the Xenopus laevis pectoralis muscle has revealed the following. 1. The percentage of fibers with one endplate is lower in large muscles, and within the same muscle, singly innervated fibers are smaller than dually innervated fibers. 2. Single junctions tend to be stronger than junctions on dually innervated fibers. 3. Single junctions typically are located near the middle of their fibers, while the endplates on dually innervated fibers are located toward either end and usually are separated by at least 20% of the total fiber length. A significant proportion of dually innervated fibers appears to be innervated by the same axon at both junctions. 4. Junctions on the same dually innervated fiber tend to be more similar in length than do junctions on different fibers of the same input resistance. This observation is the same whether both junctions on a given fiber are formed by the same or different axons. There is no corresponding tendency for greater similarity in physiological strength of paired junctions, which frequently show large differences in endplate potential amplitude. 5. The total terminal length on dually innervated fibers of equivalent input resistance is inversely correlated with the mean release per unit length and total release of both junctions. There is no apparent correlation between the distance separating endplates and their strength or length. The data support a model of synaptic regulation in which nerve terminals are attracted, grow, and are maintained in proportion to the amount of a substance supplied by muscle fibers. Our findings suggest that such a substance is produced or distributed uniformly throughout each fiber in amounts proportional to the fiber size and inversely proportional to the total transmitter output of all junctions innervating the fiber. A form of competitive interaction between the terminals which helps to determine synaptic spacing may involve local depletion or inactivation of this substance. 相似文献
