Formation of Polymeric Lewis Acid–Lewis Base Complexes with Well-defined Organoboron Polymers

The binding of Lewis bases to organoboron polymeric Lewis acids has been studied and the parameters that determine the complexation equilibrium have been investigated, which include (i) the strength of the individual Lewis acids and Lewis bases, (ii) concentration, and (iii) temperature. While the strongly Lewis acidic borane polymers poly(4-bis(pentafluorophenyl)borylstyrene) (PS-BPf) and poly(4-(di-2-thienylboryl)styrene) (PS-BTh) form isolable complexes with strong Lewis bases such as 4-t-butylpyridine (^tPy), a temperature dependent equilibrium is established with weaker bases such as THF. Similarly, the weakly Lewis acidic boronate polymer poly(4-diethoxyborylstyrene) (PS-BOEt) undergoes a temperature dependent equilibrium with the strong Lewis base 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP), while poly(4-pinacolatoborylstyrene) (PS-BPin) does not significantly bind to pyridine bases. Decomplexation of PS-BTh· ^t Py is achieved by treatment with the stronger Lewis acid, B(C₆F₅)₃, thereby confirming the reversible nature of the polymeric Lewis acid–base adducts. Sterol metabolism in the opportunistic pathogen <Emphasis Type="Italic">Pneumocystis</Emphasis>: Advances and new insights

Pneumocystis can transiently colonize healthy individuals without causing adverse symptoms, and most people test positive for exposure to this organism early in life. However, it can cause Pneumocystis pneumonia (PcP) in people with impaired immune systems and is a major cause of death in HIV/AIDS. Although it has close affinities to the Ascomycetes, Pneumocystis has features unlike those of any single group of fungi. For example, Pneumocystis does not synthesize ergosterol, which is consistent with the inefficacy of amphotericin B and some triazoles in clearing PcP. Pneumocystis sterols include distinct Δ⁷ 24-alkylsterols. Metabolic radiolabeling experiments demonstrated that P. carinii synthesizes sterols de novo. Cholesterol is the most abundant sterol in Pneumocystis; most, if not all, is scavenged from the mammalian host lung by the pathogen. The P. carinii erg7, erg6, and erg11 genes have been cloned, sequenced, and expressed in heterologous systems. The recombinant P. carinii S-adenosyl-l-methionine:C-24 sterol methyl transferase (SAM:SMT) has a preference for lanosterol over zymosterol as substrate, and the enzyme can catalyze the transfer of either one or two methyl groups to the C-24 position of the sterol side chain. Two different sterol compositions were detected among human-derived P. jirovecii; one was dominated by C₂₈ and C₂₉ sterols, and the other had high proportions of higher molecular mass components, notably the C₃₂ sterol pneumocysterol. The latter phenotype apparently represents organisms blocked at 14α-demethylation of the sterol nucleus. These studies suggest that SAM:SMT is an attractive drug target for developing new chemotherapy for PcP.     

Polyaniline for corrosion prevention of mild steel coupled with copper

Polyaniline emeraldine base/epoxy resin (EB/ER) coating was investigated for corrosion protection of mild steel coupled with copper in 3.5% NaCl solution. EB/ER coating with 5-10 wt% EB had long-term corrosion resistance on both uncoupled steel and copper due to the passivation effect of EB on the metal surfaces. During the 150 immersion days, the impedance at 0.1 Hz for the coating increased in the first 1-40 days and subsequently remained constant above 10⁹ Ω cm², whereas that for pure ER coating fell below 10⁶ Ω cm² after only 30 or 40 days. Immersion tests on coated steel-copper galvanic couple showed that EB/ER coating offered 100 times more protection than ER coating against steel dissolution and coating delamination on copper, which was mainly attributed to the passive metal oxide films formed by EB blocking both the anodic and cathodic reactions. Salt spray tests showed that 100 μm EB/ER coating protected steel-copper couple for at least 2000 h.     

Vapor-liquid equilibria in the argon-methane system

Vapor-liquid equilibrium compositions have been measured for the argon-methane system at 115.2°, 123.4° and 137.1°K, by means of a forced-recirculation apparatus. A modified Redlich-Kwong equation of state with the incorporation of a binary interaction constant has been successfully employed to represent the data. Liquid activity coefficients have been evaluated and correlated.     

Decentralized weighted control for a class of large‐scale systems with multi‐modes

In this paper, the control synthesis problem for a class of large‐scale systems with multi‐modes that are called large‐scale switched systems is addressed. By introducing the concept of decentralized switching signal and the relevant decentralized average dwell time, the asymptotic stability and weighted ?₂ gain performance are investigated. It should be noted that the decentralized switching covers general switching cases for large‐scale switched systems, namely, it admits both time‐dependent switching signal and arbitrary switching signal blended in the decentralized switching. Then, on the basis of the analysis results, the decentralized weighted control scheme including state feedback controller gains and switching signals is studied. Several design algorithms are proposed to meet different controller design problems. Finally, numerical examples are provided to illustrate theoretical findings within this paper. 电影《电话亭》（Phone Booth）充分体现了西方戏剧的一些重要的特征。《电话亭》舍弃了电影擅长的时空及人物的多样性,选择恪守传统戏剧的“三一律”,只利用非常有限的场景、时间和人物,制造出一波三折的戏剧性冲突,体现了西方戏剧是激变型的艺术这一特征。此外影片还体现了基督教的“性恶论”与西方悲剧的关联,具有警世的意味。     

"团队项目训练法"在市场营销实践教学中的应用——以"与爱同行"营销策划综合训练为例

“团队项目训练法”是充分利用各种市场资源,按照市场营销工作实际,让学生自组团队、自寻商机、自设项目,理论联系实际分析营销环境．对真实对象进行市场营销方案设计、实施、评估,亲历市场营销的完整过程,以此进一步掌握理论,训练技能,提高能力。介绍了重庆科技学院对市场营销专业本科生运用“团队训练法”进行实践教学的做法及效果。

为了充分发挥图书馆的技术资源优势,缓解企事业单位文献信息资源不足的矛盾,我馆提出建设一个有色金属公共信息服务平台,使图书馆更好地为我市地方经济建设服务,提升图书馆的服务能力和服务水平;更好地发挥图书馆的窗口作用和纽带作用,与地方搭起一个连接的桥梁,更好地为市政府和我市各企事业单位服务。     

金融危机下的LED产业发展及结构分析——以江西为例

目前,金融危机已对全球实体经济产生了巨大的冲击,2008年世界经济已明显放缓,下行风险逐步加大,前景更加不确定。中国经济虽一支独秀,但毫无疑问也会受到外部因素冲击从而影响国内经济发展,以投资和外向型贸易为特点的中国经济急需新技术和高科技领域经济增长来改变现有传统经济增长模式,而LED行业就是这样的代表性行业。本论文立足于当前世界金融危机整体发展局势,重点分析了当前金融危机对LED行业的影响,并对江西LED行业发展的整体环境及发展趋势进行了探讨和分析。
