The realistic job preview (RJP) literature has focused more on posthire outcomes such as employee retention than on prehire outcomes such as applicant attraction and job choice behavior. This study extends the RJP literature by focusing on 2 important issues related to applicant attraction: (a) the weight applicants place on negative information in relation to other variables such as pay level and promotional opportunity and (b) whether the "best" applicants react differently to negative information than do other applicants (adverse self-selection). Results indicate that applicants place a fairly high negative weight on negative job information, relative to other vacancy characteristics. The results regarding adverse self-selection are less clear but suggest that the highest quality applicants may be less willing to pursue jobs for which negative information has been presented, especially when doing so imposes opportunity costs. Two neutral proteinases from human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN), an elastase and the chymotrypsin-like cathepsin G, were purified, and their actions on lymphocytes in culture were studied. Both PMN proteinases stimulate lymphocytes from human peripheral blood and from mouse spleen in vitro, but do not affect thymic cells from either normal or hydrocortisone-treated mice. In stimulated mouse spleen cell cultures, most of the developing blast cells bear surface immunoglobulins, and subsequently appear to engage in antibody synthesis. In their stimulatory action, the two PMN proteinases thus resemble the classic B-cell mitogen LPS and neutral pancreatic proteinases such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, and elastase. The effects of proteinase inhibitors indicate that lymphocyte stimulation is dependent on the proteolytic activity of the enzymes. This work suggests that PMN proteinases, which are released at sites of inflammation, may modulate the function of lymphocytes. 相似文献

Riboflavin-binding apoprotein isolated from egg white has been used as a protein matrix for a variety of substituted and/or deuterated flavins. The neutral radical states of the reconstituted flavoproteins were studied by ENDOR (electron nuclear double resonance) spectroscopy in disordered solids. For the first time all major hyperfine coupling constants of a flavin cofactor embedded within a protein could be measured and unambiguously assigned to molecular positions. Low cycle fatigue life of nickel-base superalloys is enhanced as a consequence of inclusion reduction in the melt process;
however, the functional dependencies between fatigue characteristics and inclusions have not been well investigated. In this
study, the propagation mechanism of the fatigue crack initiated from inclusions is examined in fine-grained IN718, which is
a representative turbine disc material for jet engines. There is a faceted-striated crack transition on the fracture surfaces.
This faceted-striated transition also appears in theda/dN vs crack length curves. It is observed that the faceted crack propagation time can be more than 50 pct of total lifetime in
the low cycle fatigue test. The significance of inclusion size effect is explained on the premise that the faceted fatigue
crack propagation time scales with the inclusion size, which is taken as the initial crack length. A predictive protocol for

We have developed a low-temperature, ac microcalorimeter for exploring adsorption on a single 2.25 mm2 graphite leaf that is capable of 10 picoJoule/degree resolution. The microcalorimeter was used to determine the phase diagram and heat capacity critical exponents of monolayer4He films at the commensurate ordering transition. After in situ baking at 600 K, we reproduced the narrow-ordered phase region (1% in coverage) reported by Campbell and Bretz for HOPG, but find quasilogarithmic, rather than power law, heat capacity divergences. We argue that the disappearance of the Potts-like exponent in the heat capacity is attributable to the geometry of nucleation along cleavage edge planes present on single crystal graphite surfaces. 相似文献

The influence of molecular weight on fatigue and fracture behavior in nylon 66 (N66) and polyacetal (PA) is examined. Fatigue crack propagation (FCP) resistance and apparent fracture toughness (Kcf) in these two semicrystalline polymers increase with increasing molecular weight in a manner consistent with that reported for another semicrystalline polymer (HDPE) as well as for several amorphous polymers. The improved FCP resistance with increasing molecular weight is attributed to the development of a molecular entanglement network that more effectively resists cyclic-load-induced breakdown. A type of discontinous crack growth is identified in PA at 100Hz and in N66 (2.6% H2O) at 50 Hz and compared with that observed in amorphous polymers. 相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the vibrations in a new tram model (the ldquoCombino Plusrdquo) developed by Siemens Company, Germany, which was recently launched on a main Budapest road, and in an older tram model withdrawn from the same line. Comparative measurements were made from terminal to terminal (18 sections). The results of this investigation gave us information about the advances made in relation to the vibrational characteristics of trams. This paper summarizes literature concerning the physiological effects of continuous vibration exposures, as well as the standard ISO 2631, to clarify the relevance of the topic and to draw attention to the recorded parameters of the new ldquoCombino Plusrdquo tram. The new ldquoCombino Plusrdquo tram successfully absorbs the vibrations originating from the roughness of the tram rail. This tram produces significantly less vibration for passengers and drivers than the older model tram withdrawn from the main road traffic. The new Combino Plus satisfies the ergonomic requirements and ensures favorable working conditions. 相似文献
