Aspects of two-photon Ramsey fringes in SF/sub 6/ at 30 THz obtained with a 1-m separation between the two absorption zones are presented. The experiment is referenced to a primary standard, the Hydrogen maser/Cs fountain located at BNM-SYRTE, via a femtosecond laser frequency comb generator. This results in a stability below 1 Hz for 1000 s of averaging, and absolute frequency measurements to /spl plusmn/2 Hz which corresponds to 6/spl times/10/sup -14/ in relative frequency. Resolution of the hyperfine structure now approaches 10 Hz, while the fringe period of 200 Hz provides a frequency discriminator 100 times narrower than any other currently in use in the spectral region.  相似文献

Abstract  This paper reports on the results of and experiences gained from a project to investigate and evaluate the use of hypertext as a tool for developing CALL systems. The type of CALL system implemented was to some extent influenced by the desire to experiment with hypertext. Its novel features seemed to indicate that it would be ideal for the development of a cognate-language learning package i.e. software which would aid the development of reading ability in a foreign language based on the knowledge of a related language. Accordingly, a package was developed which provides the 'same' prose passages in French and Spanish (with English normally operating as the first language). A reader is able to browse in one of these languages, trying to understand the meaning by either interpolating between cognate words or by moving between the identical passages of two (or even three) of the languages.  相似文献

Mouse embryonic carcinoma P19 cell aggregates treated with retinoic acid (RA) sequentially differentiate into neurons and astrocytes, whereas attached cells develop a mesodermal phenotype. The expression of calcitonin (CT) and PTH/PTH-related protein (PTHrP) receptors was investigated in embryonic cells, and during neural and mesodermal differentiation. In embryonic P19 cells, specific binding of [125I]salmon (s) CT(1-32) ([125I]sCT(1-32)) was 56 fmol/mg protein, and of [125I]chicken (ch) [Tyr36]PTHrP(1-36) amide ([125I]chPTHrP(1-36)) < 0.5 fmol/mg protein. Correspondingly, cAMP was maximally stimulated 47-fold by sCT(1-32) (EC50 0.05 nM) and 3-fold by chPTHrP(1-36) (EC50 1.3 nM). Receptor autoradiography revealed specific binding of [125I]sCT(1-32) to the undifferentiated P19 cells, but not to RA induced neurons and astrocytes. At the same time, [125I]sCT(1-32) binding and cAMP accumulation by sCT were gradually decreased. But, specific binding of [125I]chPTHrP(1-36) was raised at least 6-fold compared with embryonic cells to 3 fmol/mg protein, in parallel with a 10-fold higher maximal cAMP accumulation. A similar, but delayed suppression of CT and stimulation of PTH/PTHrP receptor expression was observed during mesodermal cell differentiation. The results indicate that CT receptors are associated with undifferentiated P19 cells, whereas PTH/PTHrP receptors are expressed in RA induced neural and mesodermal cells.  相似文献

A low-power 1-Mb magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM) based on a one-transistor and one-magnetic tunnel junction (1T1MTJ) bit cell is demonstrated. This is the largest MRAM memory demonstration to date. In this circuit, the magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) elements are integrated with CMOS using copper interconnect technology. The copper interconnects are cladded with a high-permeability layer which is used to focus magnetic flux generated by current flowing through the lines toward the MTJ devices and reduce the power needed for programming. The 25-mm/sup 2/ 1-Mb MRAM circuit operates with address access times of less than 50 ns, consuming 24 mW at 3.0 V and 20 MHz. The 1-Mb MRAM circuit is fabricated in a 0.6-/spl mu/m CMOS process utilizing five layers of metal and two layers of poly.  相似文献

A 78-year-old woman presented with an 18-month history of intermittent diarrhoea. Examination of her stools revealed brachylaimid eggs, which were present in three separate specimens over a week. After treatment with praziquantel a degenerate adult Brachylaima species was recovered from her faeces. She lived in a rural area of South Australia and ate vegetables grown in her own garden which had been infested with helicid snails. In south Australia these introduced European helicid snails are commonly infected with brachylaimid intermediate larval stages and are considered to be the source of the human infection.  相似文献

P-selectin expressed on the surface of endothelium mediates leukocyte adhesion in vitro and rolling in vivo. Several inducers of cell-surface P-selectin expression on endothelial cells (EC) have previously been identified, all of which yield transient cell-surface expression of P-selectin lasting minutes to a few hours. We now show that a T-lymphocyte product, interleukin-3 (IL-3), stimulates the long-term endothelial cells (HUVEC). IL-3 induced cell-surface P-selectin expression in two phases. An initial peak at 10 minutes was followed by a prolonged upregulation beginning 16 hours after IL-3 addition and lasting at least 4 days. The level of P-selectin expression induced by IL-3 added for 48 hours was similar to that induced by treatment of HUVEC for 10 minutes with thrombin, and the effect of adding IL-3 for 48 hours followed by thrombin for 10 minutes was additive. Induction of cell-surface P-selectin expression by IL-3 was blocked by pretreatment of EC with a blocking monoclonal antibody against the IL-3 receptor alpha-chain. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha) and a mutant form of IL-3 with decreased potency did not induce cell-surface P-selectin expression after 48 hours' incubation with HUVEC, suggesting that the effect was specific to IL-3. The increase in cell-surface P-selectin expression occurring after 16 hours of incubation with IL-3 was accompanied by a similar prolonged increase in the steady-state mRNA level that was not observed at 10 minutes after IL-3 addition. As T-lymphocyte infiltration is a hallmark of chronic inflammation, our observations suggest that the secretion of IL-3 by T lymphocytes may serve to maintain the inflammatory state during chronic inflammation.  相似文献
