OBJECTIVE: Polymorphic ventricular tachycardias (PVT) occur spontaneously in canine hearts under the combination of D-sotalol (S), bradycardia and phenylephrine (PE). We investigated the hypotheses that: (1) the activation patterns of the initial PVT beats would be consistent with an origin in the ventricular conduction system; and (2) the inhomogeneous prolongation of repolarisation intervals can provide refractory barriers for re-entrant activity. METHODS: Unipolar electrograms were recorded from 127 epicardial (EPI) sites with a sock electrode array as well as from intramural and endocardial sites during PVTs. Electrograms were analysed to generate isochronal maps and measure the spatial distribution of activation-recovery intervals (ARI). RESULTS: Under S (9.9-14.5 mg.l-1), spontaneously terminating PVTs (cycle length of 270 +/- 43 ms, n = 45) (mean +/- s.d.) occurred when a PE bolus (10-50 micrograms.kg-1) was injected. The first beat of the PVTs occurred with a coupling interval of several hundred ms to the preceding idioventricular beat (IDV) without any bridging activity and its earliest EPI breakthrough occurred in areas overlying the terminations of the right or left bundle branch. ARI values measured in IDV (295 +/- 47 ms) were significantly prolonged prior to PVT (462 +/- 92 ms). Prolongation was greater in apical than in basal epicardial areas, and at endocardial than epicardial sites (to > 500 ms). Maximum delays > 200 ms developed in the regions of marked ARI prolongation and, in later beats, circus movement re-entry occurred around refractory barriers, shifting between various regions of the ventricles. CONCLUSION: Thus, PVTs occurring spontaneously under conditions of delayed repolarisation originate from shifting sites in the ventricular conduction system and re-entrant activity shifting between various regions of the ventricle may occur in later beats of the more sustained arrhythmias.  相似文献

In the late 1980s it was shown that juggling patterns can be described by strings of numbers with fascinating combinatorial properties that have since then been studied by many mathematicians and computer scientists. In this paper we propose to study juggling patterns from a pattern matching point of view. Inspired by pattern matching algorithms based on convolution, we propose a fast algorithm for finding transitions between juggling states. Apart from being a fun application of pattern matching theory, it provides a practical tool in the experimental design of (large) juggling patterns. We also provide a compact formula for counting the number of transitions of a given length between two juggling states.  相似文献

A novel iterative error control technique based on the threshold decoding algorithm and new convolutional self-doubly orthogonal codes is proposed. It differs from parallel concatenated turbo decoding as it uses a single convolutional encoder, a single decoder and hence no interleaver, neither at encoding nor at decoding. Decoding is performed iteratively using a single threshold decoder at each iteration, thereby providing good tradeoff between complexity, latency and error performance.  相似文献

Two parties, Alice and Bob, wish to distill a binary secret key out of a list of correlated variables that they share after running a quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol based on continuous-spectrum quantum carriers. We present a novel construction that allows the legitimate parties to get equal bit strings out of correlated variables by using a classical channel, with as little leaked information as possible. This opens the way to securely correcting nonbinary key elements. In particular, the construction is refined to the case of Gaussian variables as it applies directly to recent continuous-variable protocols for QKD.  相似文献

We have measured the concentrations and depth profiles of implanted helium in niobium by a method demonstrated previously with hydrogen and lithium in copper. The three targets, bombarded at room temperature with 10 keV He+ at doses of 0.01, 0.16 and 0.98 C/cm+, were respectively: unblistered; covered with circular blisters; and marked with “microrelief”, without blisters. The corresponding doses retained in the metal were 0.0076, 0.039 and 0.052 C/cm2 (i.e.≈3 × 1022 He atoms/cm3) with a 10% normalization uncertainty. The profile shapes did not change much: in particular we did not observe, as the dose increased, an accumulation near the surface, which is receding by erosion (sputtering, blistering). These results show that a mechanism of helium loss starts operating at a dose ?0.16 C/cm2, i.e. before the bursting of blisters (if they burst at all), and it is most effective near the surface.  相似文献

Plaque rupture is correlated with the plaque morphology, composition, mechanical properties, and with the blood pressure. Whereas the geometry can accurately be assessed with intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging, intravascular elastography (IVE) is capable of extracting information on the plaque local mechanical properties and composition. This paper reports additional IVE validation data regarding reproducibility and potential to characterize atherosclerotic plaques and mural thrombi. In a first investigation, radio frequency (RF) data were acquired from the abdominal aorta of an atherosclerotic rabbit model. In a second investigation, IVUS RF data were recorded from the left coronary artery of a patient referred for angioplasty. In both cases, Galaxy IVUS scanners (Boston Scientific, Freemont, CA), equipped with 40 MHz Atlantis catheters, were used. Elastograms were computed using two methods, the Lagrangian speckle model estimator (LSME) and the scaling factor estimator (SFE). Corroborated with histology, the LSME and the SFE both clearly detected a soft thrombus attached to the vascular wall. Moreover, shear elastograms, only available with the LSME, confirmed the presence of the thrombus. Additionally, IVE was found reproducible with consistent elastograms between cardiac cycles (CCs). Regarding the human dataset, only the LSME was capable of identifying a plaque that presumably sheltered a lipid core. Whereas such an assumption could not be certified with histology, radial shear and tangential strain LSME elastograms enabled the same conclusion. It is worth emphasizing that this paper reports the first ever in vivo tangential strain elastogram with regards to vascular imaging, due to the LSME. It is concluded that the IVE was reproducible exhibiting consistent strain patterns between CCs. The IVE might provide a unique tool to assess coronary wall lesions.  相似文献

Implants made of ceramics, and more particularly of calcium phosphates (hydroxyapatite: HA, mainly), promoting intimate contact with natural bone are nowadays merging. Addition of copper ions in bio-ceramics is expected to increase the biological compatibilities of bone graft substitutes. Previous works have shown that copper-doped hydroxyapatite (Cu-doped HA) ceramics can be prepared by solid-state sintering between HA and CuO powder mixtures at about 1100 °C; but, copper-substituted HA was found to be metastable leading to apatitic grains and Cu-rich grain boundaries during the sintering process. Ultra-rapid sintering is so needed. Selective laser sintering (SLS) is an additive manufacturing process that possesses the advantage to be based on ultra-fast sintering process under laser irradiation. SLS being used in literature for the application of laser on polymer-ceramic or poymer-metal composites the proper term all along the paper is Ceramic Powder Bed Laser Sintering (CPBLS). To achieve densification of Cu-doped HA ceramics from CPBLS process, one should control the composition/morphology/structure of the powder bed as well as three other important CPBLS parameters: (i) the applied energy from the laser beam, (ii) the laser power and the laser scanning speed, (iii) the distance between two successive lased lines. In this paper, the impact of all the main CPBLS parameters controlling the sintering of dip-coated Cu-doped HA layers on glass substrates is carefully investigated. Possibility of the creation of thin consolidated Cu-doped HA ceramic patterns, using the ultra-fast CPBLS process, is finally shown.  相似文献

Here, it is demonstrated that the stack-and-draw approach can be expanded to unusual materials association and profile geometries to generate fiber assemblies with unprecedented functionalities. This approach relies on the stacking of flat oxide glass slides into a preform, which is then thermally elongated into tens-of-meters-long ribbon fibers with preserved cross-section ratio. Fabrication methodology is introduced. In order to illustrate the versatility of the method, a panel of fibers with diverse geometries and functions is exposed, including glass-only exposed-core fibers for chemical sensing and, upon the insertion of metal electrodes, H-shaped multi-cavity structures and compact, glass-metal fiber optical detectors applied to a gas analysis by means of fiber-tip plasma spectroscopy. It is believed this new approach will offer an attractive, straightforward solution for designing innovative, complex multimaterial fiber platforms with enhanced functionalities.  相似文献

This study investigated the sensory quality and physicochemical evolution (pH, glucose, l-lactic acid, biogenic amine, free amino-acids and volatile compounds) during storage at 8 °C of cooked peeled shrimp inoculated with the specific spoilage bacteria Brochothrix thermosphacta alone or mixed with the protective strain Lactococcus piscium CNCM I-4031. Growth of both bacteria was monitored at regular intervals during storage by microbial counts and the thermal temperature gradient gel electrophoresis (TTGE) technique. Bacterial counts showed that L. piscium and B. thermosphacta inoculated at 7 log CFU/g and 3 log CFU/g were well adapted to shrimp, reaching a maximum level of 9 log CFU/g after 4 days and 10 days respectively. In mixed culture, the growth of B. thermosphacta was reduced by 3.2 ± 0.1 log CFU/g. The TTGE technique allowed monitoring the colonisation of the strains on the shrimp matrix and confirming the dominance of L. piscium in mixed culture throughout the experiment. Sensory analysis confirmed that B. thermosphacta spoiled the product after 11 days, when its cell number attained 8 log CFU/g with the emission of strong butter/caramel off-odours. This sensory profile could be linked to the production of 2,3 butanedione, cyclopentanol, 3-methylbutanol, 3-methylbutanal, 2-methylbutanal, 4-methyl-3-chloro-3-pentanol and ethanol, which were produced in more significant quantities in the B. thermosphacta batch than in the batches in which the protective strain was present. On the contrary, TVBN and TMA were not suitable as quality indicators for B. thermosphacta spoilage activity. In the products where the protective L. piscium strain was present, no adverse effect on sensory quality was noted by the sensory panels. Moreover, biogenic amine assessment did not show any histamine or tyramine production by this strain, underlining its safety profile. Both strains produced lactic acid (1850 mg/kg in L. piscium and B. thermosphacta batch on days 3 and 10 respectively; 3830 mg/kg on day 7 in mixed culture) and the pH decrease from 6.6 ± 0.0 to 5.9 ± 0.1 was similar in all batches. Lactic acid production or competition for free amino-acid was not involved in the inhibition mechanism; however rapid glucose consumption by L. piscium could partially explain the growth limitation of the spoilage micro-organism. This study demonstrated the spoilage characteristic of B. thermosphacta and the usefulness of L. piscium as a bioprotective culture for tropical cooked peeled shrimp without any adverse effect on the sensory quality of the product.  相似文献
