In order to characterise the spoilage related to microbiota of raw salmon, a combination of culture-dependent and -independent methods, including PCR–TTGE, was used to analyse 3 raw salmon batches stored for 3 days at chilled temperature in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) (50% CO2/50% N2) or under vacuum. Sensory evaluation, microbiological enumeration and chemical analysis were performed after 3, 7 and 10 days of storage. At the onset of spoilage, 65 bacterial isolates were picked from the plates. Thus, 13 different genera or species were identified by phenotypic and molecular tests: Serratia spp., Photobacterium phosphoreum, Yersinia intermedia, Hafnia alvei, Buttiauxella gaviniae, Pseudomonas sp., Carnobacterium maltaromaticum, Carnobacterium divergens, Lactococcus piscium, Lactobacillus fuchuensis, Vagococcus carniphilus, Leuconostoc gasicomitatum and Brochothrix thermosphacta. The PCR–TTGE profiles and band identification enabled a shift of the dominant populations during the storage to be visualised for all the batches, probably due to the temperature change and the packaging. At the beginning of storage, Pseudomonas sp. dominated the raw salmon microbiota while in the following days (7 and 10), P. phosphoreum and L. piscium were identified as the main bacterial groups. Ni–W–MoS2 composite coatings were obtained by pulse plating from a Ni–W electrolyte containing suspended MoS2 particles. The coating composition, morphology, crystalline structure, microhardness and frictional behavior were studied as a function of MoS2 concentration. The results obtained in this study indicate that co-deposited lubricant particles strongly influenced the composite Ni–W coating properties. It was found that increasing co-deposited MoS2 diminished tungsten content in the coating and consequently increased the average grain size. Ni–W nanostructured coatings with high MoS2 content have a porous sponge-like structure, high surface roughness and irregular frictional behavior. However, the friction coefficient of Ni–W coatings is reduced to half its value with low MoS2 content. 相似文献

The changes in microstructure and texture during smoking of fresh and frozen/thawed Atlantic salmon was studied in fish from three different origins; ocean-ranched Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) from Iceland and two groups of farmed Atlantic salmon from northern and western Norway. The muscle fibers from the frozen and thawed fish shrank, and the extracellular space increased compared to the fresh muscle. The muscle fibers from salmon fillets with smaller fiber diameter shrank to a less extent than fibers from salmon material with a larger fiber diameter. After smoking the space between the fibers and the fiber shrinkage increased to a higher extent in the muscle from the salmon that were frozen prior to smoking than muscle smoked from fresh salmon. The initial cross-sectional area of the fibers was not found to be related to the yield during smoking. 相似文献

This study assess the usefulness of the tympanogram as a screening tool for identifying otitis media and serous otitis media in preterm infants. Twenty-six infants from the NICU were assessed on the same day by two examiners using tympanometry and pneumatic otoscopy. The results were recorded separately and compared after all infants were tested. An audiologist independently interpreted each of the tympanogram strips. There was very little agreement between tympanometry and otoscopy results. The tympanogram was not found to be a repeatable or a reliable screening tool for assessing otitis media and serous otitis media in the NICU population. It was concluded that the NICU nurse must be aware of the signs and symptoms of otitis media and serous otitis media. If this diagnosis is raised for an infant in the NICU, careful visualization of the tympanic membrane should be carried out along with referrals to ear, nose, and throat and audiology experts. 相似文献

A new method for studying non-linear kinetics in an open reactor is described, including experimental, mathematical and numerical treatments. It is based on using a radioactive tracer for one of the reactants with the same kinetic properties. The tracer reactant is then included in the input flow in such a way that the sum of reactant and tracer reactant remains constant throughout the experiment. Thus no perturbation occurs when the tracer is added.It is shown that the non-linear initial system is reduced to a linear one for the tracer. The parameters of this tracer system are easily identified from experimental data, and then the parameters of the non-linear kinetics can be deduced. 相似文献

Hollow latex particles are used as white pigments for paints and paper coatings. In the coating dispersion, each hollow particle
is filled with water. As the coating dries, water vacates the latex, leaving an air-filled void sized to scatter light (~0.5 μm)
within each particle. Examinations of dried coatings reveal that hollow particles can collapse, decreasing their light scattering
efficiency. Cryogenic scanning electron microscopy (cryoSEM) was used to characterize the microstructure of coatings containing
hollow latex during drying. Images suggest latex voids empty after air invades into the coating interstitial space and collapse
occurs late in the drying process. The effects of temperature (10–60°C), humidity (20–80%), and binder concentration (0–30 wt%)
on particle collapse were also studied through SEM of dried coating surfaces. High drying temperature, high humidity, and
low binder concentrations promoted collapse. For hollow latex particles with porous shell walls, temperature and humidity
had little effect, whereas binder increased collapse. From these results, a theoretical model is proposed. During drying,
diffusion of water from the particle creates a vacuum inside the latex. The vacuum is either relieved by nucleation of a gas
bubble from the dissolved air in the water-filled particle or it causes the particle to collapse by buckling. 相似文献

Micro-Rutherford backscattering spectrometry experiments were performed on a set of sintered titanium nitride samples implanted with xenon to a depth of about 150 nm. Implanted samples were annealed at 1500 °C during 5 h. Xe depth profile and its lateral distribution on the surface were measured. Surface morphology was observed using scanning electron microscopy. The results reveal that the microstructure plays an important role on xenon release. Moreover, the crystalline orientation of each grain could be a key parameter to explain the heterogeneous evolution of the surface during thermal treatments as well as Xe release from surface. 相似文献

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is a catheter based medical imaging technique particularly useful for studying atherosclerotic disease. It produces cross-sectional images of blood vessels that provide quantitative assessment of the vascular wall, information about the nature of atherosclerotic lesions as well as plaque shape and size. Automatic processing of large IVUS data sets represents an important challenge due to ultrasound speckle, catheter artifacts or calcification shadows. A new three-dimensional (3-D) IVUS segmentation model, that is based on the fast-marching method and uses gray level probability density functions (PDFs) of the vessel wall structures, was developed. The gray level distribution of the whole IVUS pullback was modeled with a mixture of Rayleigh PDFs. With multiple interface fast-marching segmentation, the lumen, intima plus plaque structure, and media layers of the vessel wall were computed simultaneously. The PDF-based fast-marching was applied to 9 in vivo IVUS pullbacks of superficial femoral arteries and to a simulated IVUS pullback. Accurate results were obtained on simulated data with average point to point distances between detected vessel wall borders and ground truth <0.072 mm. On in vivo IVUS, a good overall performance was obtained with average distance between segmentation results and manually traced contours <0.16 mm. Moreover, the worst point to point variation between detected and manually traced contours stayed low with Hausdorff distances <0.40 mm, indicating a good performance in regions lacking information or containing artifacts. In conclusion, segmentation results demonstrated the potential of gray level PDF and fast-marching methods in 3-D IVUS image processing. 相似文献

Cold-smoked salmon is a lightly preserved fish product in which a mixed microbial flora develops during storage and where the interactive behaviour of micro-organisms may contribute to their growth and spoilage activity. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of the bacterial interactions between the main species contaminating the cold-smoked salmon on bacterial growth, chemical and sensory changes, and spoilage. First, Carnobacterium piscicola, Photobacterium phosphoreum, Lactobacillus sakei, Vibrio sp., Brochothrix thermosphacta and Serratia liquefaciens-like were inoculated as pure cultures on sterile cold-smoked salmon. All bacterial species grew well; Vibrio sp. was the fastest and L. sakei strains developed very rapidly as well with a high maximum cell density on cold-smoked salmon blocks (up to 10(9) cfu g(-1) after 10 days at 8 degrees C). Based on sensory analysis, Vibrio sp. was identified as non-spoilage bacteria, C. piscicola as very lightly and B. thermosphacta as lightly spoiling. L. sakei and S. liquefaciens-like were found to be the most spoiling bacteria. Secondly, C. piscicola and L. sakei, two species frequently occurring in the lactic flora of the product, were inoculated together and each of them in mixed cultures with respectively P. phosphoreum, Vibrio sp., B. thermosphacta, and S. liquefaciens-like. The growth of L. sakei was shown to strongly inhibit most of the co-inoculated strains i.e. P. phosphoreum, B. thermosphacta, S. liquefaciens-like and, to a lesser extent, Vibrio sp. The growth of C. piscicola seemed to be enhanced with B. thermosphacta and to develop earlier with P. phosphoreum and Vibrio sp. Conversely, S. liquefaciens-like and P. phosphoreum were weakly inhibited by C. piscicola. The main observation resulting from the sensory evaluation was the delay in the appearance of the spoilage characteristics in the mixed cultures with L. sakei, in particular L. sakei/ S. liquefaciens-like. On the other hand, the spoilage activity of the non-spoiler strains Vibrio sp. or the moderate spoilage strains B. thermosphacta and C. piscicola was increased when they were associated together. It is concluded that the spoilage behaviour of micro-organisms in mixed culture is significantly different from pure culture and explain the difficulty to find robust quality indices for this product. 相似文献

We consider the problem of rate-distortion optimized streaming of packetized multimedia data over a single quality-of-service network using feedback and retransmissions. For a single data unit, we prove that the problem is NP-hard and provide efficient branch and bound algorithms that are much faster than the previously best solution based on dynamic programming. For a group of interdependent data units, we show how to compute optimal solutions with branch and bound algorithms. The branch and bound algorithms for a group of data units are much slower than the current state of the art, a heuristic technique known as sensitivity adaptation. However, in many real-world situations, they provide a significantly better rate-distortion performance. 相似文献
