When wireless sensors are used to keep an area under surveillance, a critical issue is the quality of the deployment from the sensing coverage viewpoint. In this paper, we propose several quality measures, which indicate if the deployment provides sufficient coverage, or whether redeployment is required or not. The terrain is modeled as a grid and the placement of the sensors is uniformly distributed. Neyman–Pearson detection is utilized to determine the effects of false-alarm and signal characteristics on the measures.  相似文献

Today's commercial satellite images enable experts to classify region types in great detail. In previous work, we considered discriminating rural and urban regions. However, a more detailed classification is required for many purposes. These fine classifications assist government agencies in many ways including urban planning, transportation management, and rescue operations. In a step toward the automation of the fine classification process, this paper explores graph theoretical measures over grayscale images. The graphs are constructed by assigning photometric straight-line segments to vertices, while graph edges encode their spatial relationships. We then introduce a set of measures based on various properties of the graph. These measures are nearly monotonic (positively correlated) with increasing structure (organization) in the image. Thus, increased cultural activity and land development are indicated by increases in these measures - without explicit extraction of road networks, buildings, residences, etc. These latter, time consuming (and still only partially automated) tasks can be restricted only to "promising" image regions, according to our measures. In some applications our measures may suffice. We present a theoretical basis for the measures followed by extensive experimental results in which the measures are first compared to manual evaluations of land development. We then present and test a method to focus on, and (pre)extract, suburban-style residential areas. These are of particular importance in many applications, and are especially difficult to extract. In this work, we consider commercial IKONOS data. These images are orthorectified to provide a fixed resolution of 1 meter per pixel on the ground. They are, therefore, metric in the sense that ground distance is fixed in scale to pixel distance. Our data set is large and diverse, including sea and coastline, rural, forest, residential, industrial, and urban areas.  相似文献

In this paper, a new configuration suitable for realization of differential input-differential output first order, second order all-pass and notch filters with high CMRR is given. The proposed configuration uses two negative type second-generation current conveyors (CCII-), and three admittances. Two first order and one second order all-pass filters and a notch filter (tunable if current controlled conveyor CCCII is used) are extracted from the proposed configuration. Tracking error, element mismatch, sensitivity analysis, simulation and experimental results are included.  相似文献

Wireless Information Delivery Environment (WIDE) is a distributed data dissemination system, which uses IEEE 802.11b technology. WIDE aims to deliver popular information services to registered mobile clients in WLAN hot spots. Data delivery is based on broadcasting and multicasting to provide scalability and efficient use of the wireless channel. Reliability is assured with a combination of Forward Error Correction (FEC), data carousel, and ARQ techniques. This paper presents the proposed system architecture with the details of reliable and secure data dissemination mechanisms. Functional evaluation of the proposed system and mechanisms on the implemented prototype are also included in this paper. His research interests are wireless networks and content delivery systems, along with QoS, multicasting and fairness issues in MANETs. Cem Ersoy received his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, in 1984 and 1986, respectively. He worked as an R&D engineer in NETAS A.S. between 1984 and 1986. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York in 1992. Currently, he is a professor and department head in the Computer Engineering Department of Bogazici University. His research interests include performance evaluation and topological design of communication networks, wireless communications and mobile applications. Dr. Ersoy is a Senior Member of IEEE.  相似文献

To contrive an accurate and efficient strategy for object detection–object track assignment problem, we present a tracklet clustering approach using distance dependent Chinese restaurant processes (ddCRPs), which employ a two-level robust object tracker. The first level is an ordinary tracklet generator that obtains short yet reliable tracklets. In the second level, we cluster the tracklets over time based on color, spatial and temporal attributes, where the nonparametric process of clustering with ddCRPs allows us to maintain an unknown number of objects. Unlike the previously proposed Chinese restaurant processes and Dirichlet process mixture models, our ddCRPs method does not require prescribed complex cluster models to be initialized and updated, and thus, we can cluster complex tracklets by only computing similarities between them. Our comparative evaluations on tracking different object types demonstrate the generality of our approach.  相似文献

This study deals with exergetic assessment of an educational building heated by a conventional boiler in a heating center. The heating system is examined from the generation stage to the envelope of the building. In general the heat loss calculations are made using both energy and exergy analysis methods. The energy and exergy flows between the stages are obtained using a pre-design tool for an optimized building design. Energy and exergy losses are obtained to evaluate the performance of the system. A conventional boiler in the heating center and a fan coil unit in a room are considered in the analysis. Total exergy input rate is calculated to be 694.5 kW, while the largest exergy loss rate is obtained to be 333 kW. Exergetic efficiencies of the conventional boiler and the fan coil unit are also found to be 13.4% and 37.6%, respectively.  相似文献

Silver/titanium dioxide (Ag/TiO2) core-shell nanowires were synthesized by direct coating of TiO2 shells on the surface of silver nanowires (AgNWs) through a simple sol-gel process. TEM image and EDX elemental analysis had confirmed the presence of TiO2 coating on the surface of AgNWs. The thickness of titanium dioxide coating was about 10 nm. These Ag/TiO2 core-shell nanowires showed good photocatalytic activities in the decomposition of methylene blue as a model organic dye in aqueous solution under UV light irradiation. Ag/TiO2 core-shell nanowires are potentially useful in photocatalytic applications.  相似文献
