A method has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of the isomeric N-acetyl-S-(dichlorophenyl)cysteines (also known as dichlorophenylmercapturic acids, DCPMAs) in urine. This procedure allows the determination of 2,3- and 3,4-DCPMAs at the concentrations expected in the urine samples of employees occupationally exposed to 1,2-dichlorobenzene (1,2-DCB). The results of a 1,2-DCB exposure study under standardized conditions show a first-order kinetic for the excretion of DCPMAs, as well as acceptable linear correlations between the urinary concentrations of DCPMAs and the amount of inhaled 1,2-DCB. It therefore seems it would be possible to derive a biological tolerance value for 1,2-DCB based on isomeric DCPMAs as analytical parameters.  相似文献

We have studied the inhibitory action of long- and short-chain fatty acids on hepatic glucose utilization in hepatocytes isolated from fasted rats. The rates of hepatic glucose phosphorylation and glycolysis were determined from the tritiated products of [2-3H] and [6-3H]glucose metabolism, respectively. The difference between these was taken as an estimate of the 'cycling' between glucose and glucose-6-phosphate. In the presence of 40 mM glucose this cycling was estimated at 0.68 mumol/min/g wet wt. Glucose phosphorylation was unaffected during palmitate and hexanoate oxidation to ketone bodies but glycolysis was inhibited. The rate of glucose cycling was increased during this phase to 1.25 mumol/min/g. Following the complete metabolism of the fatty acids, glycolysis was reinstated and cycling rates returned to control levels. Hepatic glucose cycling appears to be an important component of the glucose/fatty acid cycle.  相似文献

Embedding infrastructure IP to optimize chip-level manufacturing test and debugging has recently become common practice. However, adopting the same approach for boards and systems requires a different family of infrastructure IP. Successful Aging     
This issue's Works in Progress department presents six abstracts for projects that are developing interesting solutions to the elderly's quality of life challenges. The first two abstracts discuss projects that will help provide the elderly with freedom and independence by instrumenting their environments with supportive technology. The next two abstracts discuss projects building specialized user interfaces for addressing some of the challenges associated with aging, such as vision impairment. Advances in the synthesis of organic conducting polymer systems has increased the electrical conductivity of these systems by several orders of magnitude in the last decade. Several practical applications are envisioned for such systems, but a thorough understanding of the conduction mechanisms and identification of the charge carriers is lacking, making design and implementation for bulk synthesis difficult. In order to clarify our understanding of the electrical properties of these systems, the resistivity and magnetoresistivity of various polymers doped near the metal - insulator transition, such as polyaniline protonated by camphor sulfonic acid (PANi-CSA) and polypyrrole doped with PF6 (PPy-PF6), have been studied down to 25 mK in magnetic fields up to 16 T.  相似文献

The elucidation of the chemical structure of lpriflavone was carried out by ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometric, infrared spectroscopic, 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic, low and high resolution EI mass spectrometric, thermoanalytical, elemental analytical and X-ray diffraction methods. The human B lymphocyte-specific Ag, CD22, is a cell adhesion molecule expressed on the surface during a narrow window of B cell development, coincident with surface IgD. A ligand for CD22 has recently been identified on human T cells as the low molecular mass isoform of the leukocyte common Ag, CD45RO. CD22 has been reported to function in the regulation of both T and B cell activation in vitro. In this study, we report the isolation and expression of a molecular cDNA clone encoding the murine homologue of CD22, mCD22. Within their predicted protein sequences, murine and human sequences overall have 62% identity, which includes 18 of 20 extracellular cysteines and six of six cytoplasmic tyrosines. BHK cells transfected with mCD22 cDNA specifically adhere to resting and activated T lymphocytes and in addition bound activated, but not resting, B cells. Five Th clones were analyzed for their ability to adhere to mCD22; two Th0 clones and one Th1 clone bound CD22+ BHK transfectants, but not all T cell clones bound CD22+ cells: another Th1 clone and a Th2 clone did not. mCD22+ BHK transfectants were also specifically bound by the B cell-specific mAb, NIM-R6, demonstrating that this mAb is specific for murine CD22. Human cell lines expressing the counter-receptors for human CD22 were also examined for adhesion to the murine CD22 homologue; the epitope responsible for B cell adhesion to CD22 is conserved, whereas the T cell epitope binding to CD22 is not. The cDNA and mAb to murine CD22 will be useful for defining the in vivo function of CD22.  相似文献
