Traffic load balancing in data centers is an important requirement. Traffic dynamics and possibilities of changes in the topology (e.g., failures and asymmetries) make load balancing a challenging task. Existing end‐host–based schemes either employ the predominantly used ECN or combine it with RTT to get congestion information of paths. Both congestion signals, ECN and RTT, have limitations; ECN only tells whether the queue length is above or below a threshold value but does not inform about the extent of congestion; similarly, RTT in data center networks is on the scale of up to few hundreds of microseconds, and current data center operating systems lack fine‐grained microsecond‐level timers. Therefore, there is a need of a new congestion signal which should give accurate information of congestion along the path. Furthermore, in end‐host–based schemes, detecting asymmetries in the topology is challenging due to the inability to accurately measure RTT on the scale of microseconds. This paper presents QLLB, an end‐host–based, queue length–based load balancing scheme. QLLB employs a new queue length–based congestion signal that gives an exact measure of congestion along the paths. Furthermore, QLLB uses relative‐RTT to detect asymmetries in the topology. QLLB is implemented in ns‐3 and compared with ECMP, CONGA, and Hermes. The results show that QLLB significantly improves performance of short flows over the other schemes and performs within acceptable level, of CONGA and Hermes, for long flows. In addition, QLLB effectively detects asymmetric paths and performs better than Hermes under high loads.  相似文献

Phase-induced intensity noise from weak multiple reflectors is evaluated theoretically and experimentally in amplifier cascades without isolators. Stiction or high static friction is a common problem in spring-diaphragm type control valves, which are widely used in the process industry. Recently, there have been many attempts to understand, define, model and detect stiction in control valves. There are several methods for detecting stiction, but quantification of the actual amount of stiction still remains a challenge. This paper discusses briefly the definition and modelling of stiction. Then it demonstrates a new method to detect and quantify the actual amount of valve stiction using routine operating data. The proposed method is completely data-driven. No additional excitation or experimentation of the plant is required.  相似文献

Hydrodynamic and mass transfer data in Soltrol-130 (a mixture of C9+ iso-paraffins) were measured in a 0.305 m diameter bubble column. The gas holdup structure (i.e., the contributions to holdup from the small and large bubble fractions of the dispersion) for this hydrocarbon liquid in the churn turbulent flow regime was analyzed using the dynamic gas disengagement technique. The validity of the assumption of axially uniform gas holdup structure was checked. Literature correlations were found inadequate to explain the observed gas holdup and the volumetric mass transfer coefficients for Soltrol-130. The volumetric mass transfer coefficient per unit volume of large bubbles is shown to be independent of superficial gas velocity for the fully developed churn turbulent regime. The present hydrodynamic and mass transfer data in the churn turbulent regime should be useful in the design and scale-up of bubble columns used in organic process industries.  相似文献

Submerged gas jets into a liquid bath are widely used in metal processing and thermal processes. These systems are classified as (a) condensation jet and (b) reaction jet systems. This paper presents the CFD simulation of both the types of jets. The CFD model considers phase change, gas-liquid and gas-gas reactions and the accompanied rates of mass transfer. Mass transfer coefficient was estimated using small eddy model where the value of mass transfer coefficient is calculated based on the local values of turbulent kinetic energy (k) and the dissipation rate (ε). A good agreement with the available experimental data of plume length validates the CFD model. The CFD simulations have also been compared with the available experimental data on velocity and temperature profiles which shows excellent agreement. A comparison between the condensation and the reaction jets has been presented in terms of plume dimensions, flow and temperature patterns. The relative predictions of the present model and the rational correlations have been presented for the estimation of plume length for both the types of jet systems.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of exopolysaccharide (EPS) from Bifidobacterium bifidum WBIN03 (B-EPS) and Lactobacillus plantarum R315 (L-EPS). The 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)-radical scavenging, hydroxyl radical-scavenging, and superoxide radical-scavenging abilities were measured to evaluate antioxidant activity. Inhibition of erythrocyte hemolysis and lipid peroxidation was also measured. Both B-EPS and L-EPS had strong scavenging ability against DPPH and superoxide radicals at high concentration. The inhibitory effect of B-EPS on erythrocyte hemolysis was stronger than that of L-EPS in a concentration range from 0.30 to 1.00 mg/mL, whereas the hydroxyl scavenging ability of L-EPS (39.15 ± 0.58%) was significantly higher than that of 0.15 mg/mL ascorbic acid (24.33 ± 1.17%) and B-EPS (17.89 ± 3.30%) at 0.10 mg/mL. The inhibition of lipid peroxidation of 0.50 mg/mL B-EPS and L-EPS was 13.48 ± 1.74% and 12.43 ± 0.51%, respectively, values lower than that of ascorbic acid at the same concentration (23.20 ± 1.41%). Furthermore, all these abilities were enhanced in a concentration-dependent manner. Agar diffusion assay showed that both EPS exhibited antibacterial activities against tested pathogens such as Cronobacter sakazakii, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphyloccocus aureus, Candida albicans, Bacillus cereus, Salmonella typhimurium, and Shigella sonnei at 300 μg/mL. In conclusion, both EPS have antimicrobial and antioxidant activities and could have applications in the food industry.  相似文献

We and others recently began studying brominated flame retardant levels in various matrices in the US including human milk and other food. This paper reviews the food studies. In our studies, ten to thirteen polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) congeners were measured, usually including BDE 209. All US women's milk samples were contaminated with PBDEs from 6 to 419 ng/g, lipid, orders of magnitude higher than levels reported in European studies, and are the highest reported worldwide. We compared our market basket studies of meat, fish and dairy products with other US food studies of meat and fish. US studies showed somewhat higher levels of PBDEs than reported elsewhere. Fish were most highly contaminated (median 616 pg/g), then meat (median190 pg/g) and dairy products (median 32.2 pg/g). However, unlike some European countries where fish predominates, dietary intake of PBDEs in the US is mostly from meat, then fish and then dairy products. Broiling can decrease the amount of PBDEs per serving. We also measured levels of hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), another brominated flame retardant, in human milk. The levels are lower than PBDEs, 0.16-1.2 ng/g, similar to European levels, unlike PBDEs where US levels are much higher than European levels.  相似文献

A new topology simultaneously implementing lowpass (LP) and bandpass (BP) transadmittance filtering signals using a single operational amplifier (OA), one capacitor, and two resistors is presented. The input impedance is very high which is essential for cascading without employment of buffers. The circuit uses absolute minimum number of active and passive components. The filter employs pole-model of OA and as such has acquired suitability for extended frequency operation. The circuit permits separate adjustment of natural frequency (ω0) and quality factor (Q) in an orthogonal manner. The circuit has low sensitivity figures unlike the reported single amplifier biquads.
