Lasers (e.g. Nd-YAG) have been used extensively for groove formation both in laboratories and commercial production but the initial capital cost is high. The production throughput is also low and thus adds to the cost of the cell. To reduce cost and increase production throughput a drafting plotter has been adapted to serve as a mechanical scriber for groove formation. The adapted plotter can scribe cells in matrix form to reduce the human labour and increase the production throughput. The characterization of the scribing tips in conjunction with the plotter showed that the best yield for the scriber is obtained when the scribing tip is mounted at 78° to the stock. Of the seven characterized scribing tips, the 90° conical scriber has been found to give the same groove geometry as the laser. The application of the adapted plotter to cell fabrication did not show any significant deterioration in the electrical output parameters for the mechanically scribed cells when compared with laser scribed cells. This article reports the adaptation of the x-y table drafting plotter to form buried contact grooves.  相似文献

The effectiveness in the year of application of three phosphorus fertilizers, superphosphate, Christmas Island C-grade ore, and 500°C calcined Christmas Island C-grade ore (Calciphos), was measured for 5 consecutive years in a field experiment on a lateritic soil. The residual value of the phosphorus fertilizers was also measured for 6 years. Dry matter production of subterranean clover-based pasture and bicarbonate extractable soil phosphorus were used as indicators of fertilizer effectiveness.Despite the use of very large amounts of C-grade ore and Calciphos, the plateau of the pasture yield versus fertilizer applied curve for these fertilizers did not reach the yield plateau achieved with superphosphate in either the short or long term.C-grade ore and Calciphos were 3% and 8% as effective as superphosphate for dry matter production in the year of application. Relative to superphosphate applied in the current year the effectiveness of superphosphate decreased by about 70% between the first and second year after application and decreased by a further 14% from year 3 to year 6. C-grade ore and Calciphos remained about 2% and 9% as effective as currently applied superphosphate each year.The residual value of superphosphate as measured by bicarbonate-extracted soil phosphorus decreased by about 60% from year 2 to year 7. The residual value of Calciphos was very low for year 2, doubled from year 2–4 and thereafter decreased gradually to its original value by year 7. The residual value of C-grade ore was extremely low throughout the experiment. Thus after year 2, compared to pasture yield, bicarbonate extracted soil phosphorus overestimated the residual value of superphosphate and calciphos.It follows that neither C-grade ore or Calciphos are suitable replacement fertilizers for superphosphate for use on pastures growing on lateritic soils in south-western Australia.  相似文献

The residual value of phosphorus from superphosphate, crandallite rock phosphate (Christmas Island C-grade ore), 500°C calcined crandallite rock phosphate (Calciphos) and apatite rock phosphate from Queensland, Australia, was measured in a 6 year field experiment sited on lateritic soil in south-western Australia. Different amounts of each fertilizer were applied at the commencement of the experiment, and either left on the soil surface or mixed through the soil by cultivating to a depth of about 10 cm. Dry matter production of subterranean clover measured in spring (August) and bicarbonate-extractable phosphorus determined from soil samples collected in summer (January–February) were used as indicators of fertilizer effectiveness.The effectiveness values calculated for each fertilizer each year were similar for the treatments that were left on the soil surface and those which were mixed through the soil. The effectiveness of both ordinary and triple superphosphate were similar each year. They were the most effective fertilizers for the duration of the experiment. Using pasture yield as an indicator, the effectiveness of the superphosphates decreased by about 50% from year 1 to year 2, and by a further 10% over the remaining 4 years. Using bicarbonate-extracted soil phosphorus the effectiveness of both superphosphates decreased in a more uniform fashion by about 60% from year 2 to year 6. The effectiveness of all the rock phosphate fertilizers was approximately constant through time. As calculated from yield and bicarbonate-soluble phosphorus values, C-grade ore, Calciphos and the Queensland apatite were respectively 5%, 20% and 7% as effective as freshly applied superphosphate.The proportion of the total phosphorus content present in the rock phosphates which was initially soluble in neutral ammonium citrate was a poor predictor of the effectiveness of the phosphorus from these fertilizers determined using herbage yield or the amount of bicarbonate — soluble phosphorus extracted from the soil.The bicarbonate soil test did not predict the same future production for superphosphate and some of the rock phosphates in years 2 and 3 of the experiment, indicating that different soil test calibration curves are needed for the different fertilizers.  相似文献

A case of Blue Rubber Bleb Nevus in a 11 year-old boy is reported. The patient exhibited characteristic hemangiomas of the skin and gastrointestinal tract with an iron deficiency anemia. Historical, clinical, pathological, and surgical features of the condition are discussed. Value of fibroscopic examination in delineation of the cause of persistent gastrointestinal bleeding is pointed out.  相似文献

Several aspects of in-vitro cell growth and protein synthesis were assessed in cultures of skin fibroblasts from subjects with juvenile-onset diabetes mellitus (JODM) or adult-onset diabetes mellitus (AODM) and from age-matched nondiabetic controls (C). There was an inverse correlation between increasing age and both the log-phase doubling rate and saturation density at confluence in C fibroblasts. JODM and AODM cells had a reduction in both indices of cell population growth in comparison with age-matched C fibroblasts. Fibroblasts grown in the presence of 0.3 micronM hydrocortisone were stimulated to grow more rapidly and to a greater saturation density. Stimulation of cell division by hydrocortisone accentuated the abnormalities in growth of JODM and AODM fibroblasts. Total protein and collagen synthesis was measured whtn the fibroblasts had grown to confluency in medium with or without hydrocorticone. Hydrocorticone did not produce a significant change in total protein and collagen synthesis per cell by C fibroblasts. Fibroblasts from AODM had a 180 per cent increase in total protein and collagen synthesis in the presence of hydrocortisone. In contrast, total protein and collagen synthesis decreased 40 per cent in fibroblasts from JODM when grown in the hydrocortisone medium. These studies indicate that skin fibroblast cultures from patients with diabetes exhibit abnormalities in cell proliferation. Furthermore, hydrocortisone appears to unmask diffeerences in protein synthesis that distinguish JODM and AODM fibroblasts in culture.  相似文献

Tryptic digests of four polypeptides found in Kunjin virus-infected Vero cells, NV5, NV4, V3, and NV3, were compared by peptide mapping. The polypeptides to be analyzed were labeled with radioactive methionine and separated by electrophoresis through polyacrylamide gels containing sodium dodecyl sulfate. Because infection of Vero cells by Kunjin virus does not inhibit host cell protein synthesis, radioactively labeled viral polypeptides prepared from infected cells migrate coincidentally during sodium dodecyl sulfate-gel electrophoresis with some of the labeled host proteins. Thus, the genuine viral methionine-containing peptides in tryptic digests of viral proteins have been identified by co-analyzing polypeptides from [3H]methionine-labeled uninfected cells and [35S]methionine-labeled infected cells and determining the 35S/3H ratio in the peptides resolved in two dimensions on thin-layer chromatography plates. The peptide map of NV3 demonstrated that it is host coded, whereas NV5, NV4, and V3 have unique peptide maps and, therefore, account for approximately one-half of the coding potential of Kunjin virus RNA.  相似文献

Acoustic reflex thresholds (ART) and loudness discomfort levels (LDL) were obtained from 51 ears of 34 deaf children using broad band noise and pure tones. Both thresholds and levels were recorded using the psychophysical method of tracking. Results indicate that the relationship between ART and LDL is at variance with similar data for normal hearing individuals. Specifically, in over 39% of these deaf children LDL was obtained at a lower intensity than ART. Implications for hearing aid fitting with deaf children are discussed.  相似文献

Forty years ago Denis Browne wrote that the medical world was ignoring an important distinction among birth defects. There were, he said, a large group of abnormalities caused not by genetic errors or teratogens but simply by fetal constraint. These abnormalities, if recognized early, could be readily ameliorated with simple, conservative forms of therapy. Today the full range and frequency of deformations are still not well appreciated and yet the recognition of these deformities may be more important than ever. The public is becoming increasingly aware of environmental hazards and genetic risks to their unborn children. They know of the difficult problems faced by families when malformed children are born. The physician who can rapidly and accurately diagnose deformities treats a good deal more than the problems of aberrant fetal molding.  相似文献
