The presence of a bulky substituent at the 2‐position of 1,3‐butadiene derivatives is known to affect the polymerization behavior and microstructure of the resulting polymers. Free‐radical polymerization of 2‐triethoxysilyl‐1,3‐butadiene ( 1 ) was carried out under various conditions, and its polymerization behavior was compared with that of 2‐triethoxymethyl‐ and other silyl‐substituted butadienes. A sticky polymer of high 1,4‐structure ( ) was obtained in moderate yield by 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN)‐initiated polymerization. A smaller amount of Diels–Alder dimer was formed compared with the case of other silyl‐substituted butadienes. The rate of polymerization (Rp) was found to be Rp = k[AIBN]0.5[ 1 ]1.2, and the overall activation energy for polymerization was determined to be 117 kJ mol?1. The monomer reactivity ratios in copolymerization with styrene were r 1 = 2.65 and rst = 0.26. The glass transition temperature of the polymer of 1 was found to be ?78 °C. Free‐radical polymerization of 1 proceeded smoothly to give the corresponding 1,4‐polydiene. The 1,4‐E content of the polymer was less compared with that of poly(2‐triethoxymethyl‐1,3‐butadiene) and poly(2‐triisopropoxysilyl‐1,3‐butadiene) prepared under similar conditions. By integrating the status-based model of market competitionand the resource partitioning model, this paper develops theresource-status space imagery of markets and two propositions.First, the paper argues that the benefit that an organizationderives from an increment in status is not independent of theorganization's niche width. Second, the paper considers theimplications of status-based stratification for the resourcepartitioning model's specification of the effects of increasingmarket concentration. Using the resource-status space imagery,this paper posits that if expanding generalists are reluctantto lower their status or are unable to increase their status,they will expand within their current status level. The expandinggeneralists will thus encroach on the niches of similar statusgeneralists and specialists, rather than expand into the nichesof generalists across the whole status spectrum. This paper presents a study on treatment of beverage‐processing wastewater (BPWW) in a three‐phase fluidised bed bioreactor (TPFBB). Wastewater samples were introduced in the TPFBB and aerated at optimum liquid and gas flow rates while measuring wastewater parameters [pH, chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), total Kjehldahl nitrogen (TKN) and ammonia‐nitrogen (NH3‐N)]. Two different initial pH levels were studied, i.e. 9.0 and 11.5. The pH of the wastewater was observed to level off at 9.3 after 1 day. The TSS dropped by 95% after 5 days, for both initial pH levels. The NH3‐N and TKN dropped to similar final concentration independent of initial pH. The COD removal efficiency was observed to depend on the initial pH level. A highest efficiency of 98% and lowest efficiency of 50% were observed at initial pH of 9.0 and 11.5, respectively. The study results show that TPFBB is capable of treating food‐processing wastewater under suitable conditions.  相似文献

In each of six gastric cancer patients, repetitive extragenic palindromic PCR DNA fingerprints of 18 single colonies of Helicobacter pylori from the gastric antrum, corpus, and cardia were identical and matched that of the parental isolate. In three additional gastric cancer patients, 17 of 18 single-colony DNA fingerprints were identical to each other and to the DNA fingerprint of the corresponding parental isolate.  相似文献

An analytical method for the rapid isolation and recovery of the homologous series of 2-aminoethanols, a class of organic compounds of importance to wood preservative treatment, is successfully developed. The method is applied to an aqueous solution of copper amine (copper[II] hydroxide complexed monoethanolamine) and to copper-amine-treated sawdust. The method incorporates a gas chromatograph-ion-trap mass spectrometer. A discussion of the secondary equilibrium effects involved when ionizable analytes are extracted from an aqueous phase with respect to organic bases is presented. Using 2-propanol as the extractant coupled to a salt-saturated aqueous phase results in recoveries of 63% for 2-aminoethanol, 51% for N,N-dimethyl-2-aminoethanol, and 56% for N-methyl-2-aminoethanol for a single liquid-liquid extraction. The choice of 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol as an internal standard is found to be quite suitable. A comparison of the precision and accuracy for an external versus an internal mode of instrument calibration demonstrates that the internal standard mode is preferable for this manual injection.  相似文献

Miscibility in the blends of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with n-hexyl methacrylate-methyl methacrylate random copolymers (HMA-MMA) and 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate-MMA random copolymers (EHMA-MMA) was evaluated using glass transition and light scattering methods. EHMA-MMA was more miscible with PEO than HMA-MMA. Both blends of PEO with HMA-MMA and EHMA-MMA showed UCST-type miscibility although homopolymer blends PEO/PMMA were predicted to be of LCST-type. This was attributed to an increase in the exchange enthalpy with increasing HMA or EHMA composition in the random copolymer. From the copolymer composition dependence of miscibility the segmental χ parameters of HMA/MMA, EHMA/MMA, EO/HMA and EO/EHMA were estimated using the Flory-Huggins theory extended to random copolymer systems. Miscibility in the blends of branched PEO with HMA-MMA whose HMA copolymer composition was 0.16 was compared with that in the linear PEO blends. The former blends were more miscible with HMA-MMA than the latter one by about 35 °C at the maximum cloud point temperature.  相似文献

In anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL), the (2;5) chromosomal translocation creates a fusion gene encoding the 80-kD NPM-ALK hybrid protein. This report describes three new monoclonal antibodies, two of which recognize, by Western blotting, the N-terminal portion of NPM present in the NPM-ALK fusion protein and also in two other NPM fusion proteins (NPM-RARalpha and NPM-MLF1). The third antibody recognizes the C-terminal portion (deleted in NPM-ALK) and reacts only with wild-type NPM. The three antibodies immunostain wild-type NPM (in paraffin-embedded normal tissue samples) in cell nuclei and in the cytoplasm of mitotic cells. Cerebral neurones, exceptionally, show diffuse cytoplasmic labeling. In contrast to normal tissues, the two antibodies against the N-terminal portion of NPM labeled the cytoplasm of neoplastic cells, in four ALK-positive ALCL, reflecting their reactivity with NPM-ALK fusion protein, whereas the antibody to the C-terminal NPM epitope labeled only cell nuclei. Immunocytochemical labeling with these antibodies can therefore confirm that an ALK-positive lymphoma expresses NPM-ALK (rather than a variant ALK-fusion protein) and may also provide evidence for chromosomal anomalies involving the NPM gene other than the classical (2;5) translocation.  相似文献
