Soft-grain materials such as clays and other colloidal pastes share the common feature of being composed of grains that can undergo large deformations without rupture. For the simulation of such materials, we present two alternative methods: (1) an implicit formulation of the material point method (MPM), in which each grain is discretized as a collection of material points, and (2) the bonded particle model (BPM), in which each soft grain is modeled as an aggregate of rigid particles using the contact dynamics method. In the MPM, a linear elastic behavior is used for the grains. In order to allow the aggregates in the BPM to deform without breaking, we use long-range center-to-center attraction forces between the primary particles belonging to each grain together with steric repulsion at their contact points. We show that these interactions lead to a plastic behavior of the grains. Using both methods, we analyze the uniaxial compaction of 2D soft granular packings. This process is nonlinear and involves both grain rearrangements and large deformations. High packing fractions beyond the jamming state are reached as a result of grain shape change for both methods. We discuss the stress-strain and volume change behavior as well as the evolution of the connectivity of the grains. Similar textures are observed at large deformations although the BPM requires higher stress than the MPM to reach the same level of packing fraction.  相似文献

A reversible data hiding scheme using complementary embedding strategy   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Obtaining good visual quality and high hiding capacity with reversible data hiding systems is a technically challenging problem. In this paper, we propose a simple reversible data hiding scheme that uses a complementary hiding strategy. The proposed method embeds one secret bit horizontally and vertically into one cover pixel of a grayscale cover image by decreasing odd-valued pixels and increasing even-valued pixels by one. Experimental results show that the hiding capacity measured by bit per pixel (bpp) of the proposed scheme is at least 1.21 bpp with a PSNR (peak signal-to-noise ratio) value greater than 52 dB for all standard test images. Especially in the case of four-layer embedding, the PSNR value of the proposed method is still greater than 51 dB at a hiding capacity of about 5 bpp for all standard test images. In addition, the proposed method is quite simple because it primarily uses additions and subtractions. These results indicate that the proposed scheme is superior to many existing reversible data hiding schemes introduced in the literature.  相似文献

A versatile model of fibre suspensions in Newtonian and viscoelastic fluids has been developed using dissipative particle dynamics method. The viscoelastic fluid is modelled by linear chains with linear connector spring force (the Oldroyd-B model), which is known to be a reasonable model for the so-called Boger fluid (a dilute suspension of polymer in a highly viscous solvent). The numerical results are in excellent agreement with the analytical results of the Oldroyd-B model in simple shear flow. An effective meso-scale model of fibre in DPD is proposed and then incorporated with simple Newtonian fluid and our Boger fluid to enable entirely study rheological properties of fibre suspensions in both Newtonian and viscoelastic solvents. The numerical results are well compared with available experimental data and other numerical models.  相似文献

A large number of methods have been proposed for ranking fuzzy numbers in the last few decades. Nevertheless, none of these methods can always guarantee a consistent result for every situation. Some of them are even non-intuitive and not discriminating. Chen proposed a ranking method in 1985 to overcome these limitations and simplify the computational procedure based on the criteria of total utility through maximizing set and minimizing set. However, there were some shortcomings associated with Chen’s ranking method. Therefore, we propose a revised ranking method that can overcome these shortcomings. Instead of considering just a single left and a single right utility in the total utility, the proposed method considers two left and two right utilities. In addition, the proposed method also takes into account the decision maker’s optimistic attitude of fuzzy numbers. Several comparative examples and an application demonstrating the usage, advantages, and applicability of the revised ranking method are presented. It can be concluded that the revised ranking method can effectively resolve the issues with Chen’s ranking method. Moreover, the revised ranking method can be used to differentiate different types of fuzzy numbers.  相似文献

This paper presents a study on improving the traversability of a quadruped walking robot in 3D rough terrains. The key idea is to exploit body movement of the robot. The position and orientation of the robot are systematically adjusted and the possibility of finding a valid foothold for the next swing is maximized, which makes the robot have more chances to overcome the rough terrains. In addition, a foothold search algorithm that provides the valid foothold while maintaining a high traversability of the robot, is investigated and a gait selection algorithm is developed to help the robot avoid deadlock situations. To explain the algorithms, new concepts such as reachable area, stable area, potential search direction, and complementary kinematic margin are introduced, and the effectiveness of the algorithms is validated via simulations and experiments.  相似文献

A strategy for dual sensing of Na+ and K+ ions using Prussian blue nanotubes via selective inter/deintercalation of K+ ion and competitive inhibition by Na+ ion, is reported. The analytical signal is derived from the cyclic voltammetry cathodic peak position Epc of Prussian blue nanotubes. Na+ and K+ levels in a sample solution can be determined conveniently using one Prussian blue nanotubes sensor. In addition, this versatile method can be applied for the analysis of single type of either Na+ or K+ ions. The dual-ion sensor response towards Na+ and K+ can be described using a model based on the competitive inhibition effects of Na+ on K+ inter/deintercalation in Prussian blue nanotubes. Successful application of the Prussian blue nanotubes sensor for Na+ and K+ determination is demonstrated in artificial saliva.  相似文献

In automated container terminals, containers are transported from the marshalling yard to a ship and vice versa by automated vehicles. The automated vehicle type studied in this paper is an automated lifting vehicle (ALV) that is capable of lifting a container from the ground by itself. This study discusses how to dispatch ALVs by utilizing information about pickup and delivery locations and time in future delivery tasks. A mixed-integer programming model is provided for assigning optimal delivery tasks to ALVs. A procedure for converting buffer constraints into time window constraints and a heuristic algorithm for overcoming the excessive computational time required for solving the mathematical model are suggested. Numerical experiments are reported to compare the objective values and computational times by a heuristic algorithm with those by an optimizing method and to analyze the effects of dual cycle operation, number of ALVs, and buffer capacity on the performance of ALVs.  相似文献

A nanowire structured nanocomposite of tin oxide (SnOx) and a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) are fabricated using rheotaxial growth and thermal oxidation method for gas sensor application. The morphology, gas sensing properties, as well as the chemical and electrical properties are investigated. The oxidation temperature for Sn mainly determines the stoichiometry of the SnOx nano-beads, and consequently the electrical and gas sensing properties of the nanocomposite sensors. The gas sensing to nitrogen oxide, hydrogen, oxygen, xylene, acetone, carbon monoxide, and ammonia are also examined to determine the gas selectivity of the sensor. The high sensitivity and selectivity towards NOx of the nanocomposite sensor is realized via the porous structure of the SWNT template. The gas sensing mechanism of the nanocomposite structure is also discussed.  相似文献

A gas-jet micro pump with novel cross-junction channel has been designed and fabricated using a Si micromachining process. The valveless micro pump is composed of a piezoelectric lead zirconate titanate (PZT) diaphragm actuator and fluidic network. The design of the valveless pump focuses on a cross-junction formed by the neck of the pump chamber and one outlet and two opposite inlet channels. The structure of cross-junction allows differences in fluidic resistance and fluidic momentum inside the channels during each PZT diaphragm vibration cycle, which leads to the gas flow being rectified without valves. The flow channels were easily fabricated by using silicon etching process. To investigate the effects of the structure of the cross-junction on the gas flow rate, two types of pump with different cross-junction were studied. The design and simulation were done using ANSYS-Fluent software. The simulations and experimental data revealed that the step-nozzle structure is much more advantageous than the planar structure. A flow rate of 5.2 ml/min was obtained for the pump with step structure when the pump was driven at its resonant frequency of 7.9 kHz by a sinusoidal voltage of 50 Vp–p.  相似文献
