The chromatographic analysis of resol solutions in tetrahydrofuran solvent, by means of a set of columns packed with crosslinked polystyrene gels, has been carried out with adequate resolving power for a clear-cut qualitative or semiquantitative differentiation between various types of resols to be practicable. The resulting chromatograms, which show the distribution of different constituents by molecular size, could be interpreted by the use of reference substance and by calibrating the system with a number of compounds of known structures. The method has been used to investigate the way in which various reaction parameters (nature of catalysts, proportion of starting material, treatments undergone by the resols) affect the composition of resols. Different commercial products have been thus characterized. It has also afforded an insight into the progress of the polycondensation reaction as a function of time and helped to state the reactivity of different groups and unblocked ring positions. Thus, an hydroxymethyl group appears to be more reactive in the para than in the ortho position. Otherwise the reactivity of unblocked ring positions would be enhanced by an hydroxymethyl group in the ortho rather than para position.  相似文献

This paper presents the design and implementation of a multivariable self-tuning temperature controller for the control of lead bromide crystal growth. The crystal grows inside a multizone transparent furnace. There are eight interacting heating zones shaping the axial temperature distribution inside the furnace. A multi-input, multi-output furnace model is identified on-line by a recursive least squares estimation algorithm. A multivariable pole placement controller based on this model is derived and implemented. Comparison between single-input, single-output and multi-input, multi-output self-tuning controllers demonstrates that the zone-to-zone interactions can be minimized better by a multi-input, multi-output controller design. This directly affects the quality of crystal grown.  相似文献

The molecular weight (Mw) and temperature (T) dependence of the expansion factor and the second virial coefficient of polyacrylamide (PAAm) in dilute solution are investigated. The theoretical predictions of the blob and of the modified Flory's theory are compared with experimental results on polystyrene. We note similar behaviour for these two polymers which cannot certify in the intermediate region if the volume exponent v is higher than the theoretical asymptotic value or not. In addition we give an experimental determination of the theta temperature for PAAm in water θ = ?8°C.  相似文献

This paper deals with the reanalysis of serum lipids from previous studies in which deuterated fatty acids were administered to a single person. Samples were reanalyzed to determine if the deuterated fatty acids were converted to deuterium-labeled conjugated linoleic acid (CLA, 9c, 11t-18∶2) or other CLA isomers. We found 11-trans-octadecenoate (fed as the triglyceride) was converted (Δ9 desaturase) to CLA, at a CLA enrichment ofca. 30%. The 11-cis-octadecenoate isomer was also converted to 9c, 11c-18∶2, but at <10% the concentration of the 11t-18∶1 isomer. No evidence (within our limits of detection) for conversion of 10-cis-or 10-trans-octadecenoate to the 10,12-CLA isomers (Δ12 desaturase) was found. No evidence for the conversion of 9-cis, 12-cis-octadecadienoate to CLA (via isomerase enzyme) was found. Although these data come from isomerase enzyme) was found. Palladium catalysts [(ArNC(Me)-C(Me)NAr)Pd(CH2)3(COOMe)]+ (VERSIPOL™) or [(ArNC(Me)-C(Me)NAr)Pd(CH2)3(COOMe)]+ (Ar=2,6-i-Pr2-C6H3, 2,6-Me2-C6H3 or C6H5 and Ar′=3,5-(CF3)2-C6H3) were synthesized and tested, in dichloromethane, for the polymerization of ethylene. The influence of the substituent present on the diimine ligand on the molar mass of the resulting polymers was examined first. Poly(ethylene)s obtained in the presence of catalysts containing the bulky 2,6-i-Pr2 group, prepared at different ethylene pressures, exhibited almost identical weight average molar mass values, but were characterized by great differences in hydrodynamic volume, radius of gyration and intrinsic viscosity values. These differences were attributed to the evolution of the topology going from hyperbranched to almost linear. Similar observations were made earlier. The major part of the work dealt with new results on the behavior of these PE samples examined in terms of particle scattering function q5/3I(q) (Kratky-Porod) plot based on small angle neutron scattering experiments and on the semi-dilute solution behavior. Some results on the bulk rheological properties of these polymers were presented in the last section and corroborated the results obtained in dilute or semi-dilute solution. The data were compared also to PE obtained with other catalysts.  相似文献

Oxynitride glasses are glasses where threefold coordinated nitrogen atoms substitute for twofold oxygen ones, hence resulting in a larger interatomic cross-linking degree. Such glasses were first observed at the grain boundary in silicon nitride ceramics, where they govern the high-temperature behavior. Later, they were prepared as bulk materials and motivated numerous researches, thanks to their large viscosity, glass transition range, elastic moduli, hardness, and fracture toughness among inorganic and non-metallic glasses. In different chemical systems that were investigated, the synthesis routes and the sources for these exceptional mechanical properties are reviewed. Oxynitride glasses are not easy to process and suffer from the loss of transparency as nitrogen is incorporated over some critical content. Nevertheless, they are attractive “specialty” glasses in various niche areas, thanks to their large refractive index and dielectric constant, improved chemical durability, high softening point, etc., and majorly to their exceptional mechanical properties.  相似文献

Copper (Cu) transporter 2 (Ctr2) is a transmembrane protein that transports Cu across cell membranes and increases cytosolic Cu levels. Experiments using cell lines have suggested that Ctr2 expression is regulated by Cu status. The importance of changes in Ctr2 expression is underscored by recent studies demonstrating that lower Ctr2 content in cells increases the cellular uptake of platinum-containing cancer drugs and toxicity to the drugs. In this study, we examined whether Ctr2 expression is altered by a nutritional Cu deficiency in vivo. Ctr2 mRNA and protein in liver and heart from rats fed a normal (Cu-N), moderately deficient (Cu-M) or deficient (Cu-D) Cu diet was measured. Rats fed the Cu-deficient diets showed a dose-dependent decrease in liver Ctr2 protein compared to Cu-N rats. Ctr2 protein was 42% and 85% lower in Cu-M and Cu-D rats, respectively. Liver Ctr2 mRNA was 50% lower in Cu-D rats and unaffected in Cu-M rats. In heart, Ctr2 protein was only lower in Cu-D rats (46% lower). These data show that Cu deficiency decreases Ctr2 content in vivo.  相似文献
