Radionuclide imaging of airway obstruction following assisted ventilation

Radioaerosol lung scintigraphy was performed in five infants in whom obstructive airway complications developed following assisted ventilation. These studies suggest that a primary functional defect was obstruction to airflow at the level of the major airways, which occurred during expiration. Perfusion lung scintigraphy showed areas of diminished or redistributed pulmonary blood flow, which, like the results of the radioaerosol scintigraphic studies, are findings often associated with adult chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The various doses of dopamine efficacy, applied for the inotropic support in 30 donors of kidneys, was investigated, as well as the preparation influence on the renal transplantation function. Inotropic support of donor using dopamine was needed in 21 donors. The occurrence rate of an acute necrosis of tubules have depended upon dopamine doses. Dopamine is the preparation of choice for the intensive therapy conduction and securing of cardiovascular stability of the donors kidneys.     

The stretch zone of automotive steel sheets

The paper deals with an experimental determination of the stretch zone dimensions in the notch tip in thin steel sheets. The stretch zone dimensions depend on steel grade, on the rolling direction as well as on the loading rate. Stretch zones were observed and measured on three steel grades. Fracture area and stretch zones were analysed by SEM. Stable crack growth was monitored by videoextensometry techniques on CT (Compact Tension) specimens. Specimens were loaded under two loading rates by eccentric tension, whereby the deformation in the notch surrounding area was recorded using a non-contact measurement–videoextensometry technique. Linear relation between the stretch zone dimensions was determined.
