Abstract— A full‐color AMOLED display with an RGBW color filter pattern has been fabricated. Displays with this format require about one‐half the power of analogous RGB displays. RGBW and RGB 2.16‐in.‐diagonal displays with average power consumptions of 180 and 340 mW, respectively, were characterized for a set of standard digital still camera images at a luminance of 100 cd/m2. In both cases, a white‐emitting AMOLED was used as the light source, and standard LCD filters were used to provide the R, G, and B emission. The color gamuts of these displays were identical and the higher overall efficiency of the RGBW format results from two factors. First, a large fraction of a typical image is near neutral in color and can be reproduced using the white sub‐pixel. Second, the white sub‐pixel in an RGBW AMOLED display is highly efficient because of the absence of any color filter. The efficiency of these displays can be further enhanced by choosing a white emitter optimized to the target display white point (in this case D65). A two‐emission layer configuration based upon separate yellow and blue‐emitting regions is shown to be well suited for both the RGBW and RGB formats.  相似文献

Abstract— For better front‐of‐screen performance for transflective LCDs, a technology with extra free optimization parameters for the optical stack is needed. Thin wet coatable retarders which enable adjustment of the optical activity on the (sub)pixel level have been developed. Isotropic domains have been created in nematic retardation films by thermal patterning or photopatterning. Employing such a patterned retarder in a transflective LCD leads to an LCD that is lighter and thinner with good reflectivity, high transmission, and low chromaticity at all gray levels and wide viewing angles. The patterned thin‐film technology has been proven to be versatile and applicable in various LCD designs.  相似文献

An overview is given of the new IEEE 802.11n standard. This is the first wireless LAN standard based on MIMO-OFDM, a technique pioneered by Airgo Networks to give a significant performance increase in both range and rate relative to conventional wireless LAN. Performance results show that net user throughputs over 100 Mbps are achievable, which is about four times larger than the maximum achievable throughput using IEEE 802.11a/g. For the same throughput, MIMO-OFDM achieves a range that is about 3 times larger than non-MIMO systems. This significant improvement in range-rate performance makes MIMO-OFDM the ideal solution not only for wireless LAN, but also for home entertainment networks and 4G networks. Richard van Nee received the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Twente University in Enschede, the Netherlands, in 1990. In May 1995, he received the PhD degree from Delft University of Technology. From 1995 to 2000, he worked for Lucent Technologies Bell Labs on wireless LAN transmission techniques. He was one of the original proposers of the CCK and OFDM modulation techniques which were adopted by the IEEE 802.11b and IEEE802.11a wireless LAN standards. In 2001, he cofounded Airgo Networks that developed the first MIMO-OFDM modem for wireless LAN and which techniques form the basis of the IEEE 802.11n standard. Together with Ramjee Prasad, he wrote a book on OFDM, entitled ‘OFDM for Mobile Multimedia Communications.’ In 2002 he received the Dutch Veder award for his contributions to standardization of wireless communications.  相似文献

We introduce a simple and practical method for repairing inconsistent databases. Given a possibly inconsistent database, the idea is to properly represent the underlying problem, i.e., to describe the possible ways of restoring its consistency. We do so by what we call signed formulae, and show how the ‘signed theory’ that is obtained can be used by a variety of off-the-shelf computational models in order to compute the corresponding solutions, i.e., consistent repairs of the database. *This paper is a revised and extended version of [9].  相似文献

Models of users are a way to understand and improve the usability of computer interfaces. We present here a model in ACT-R cognitive-modeling language that interacts with a publicly available driving simulation as a simple analog for robot interfaces. The model interacts with the unmodified Java interface by incorporating a novel use of bitmap parsing. The model's structure starts to describe the knowledge a human operator of a robot must have. The model also indicates some of the aspects of the task will be difficult for the operator. For example, the model's performance makes quantitative predictions about how robot speed will influence navigation quality, correlating well to human performance. While the model does not cover all aspects of human-robot interaction, it illustrates how providing user models access to an interface through its bitmap can lead to more accurate and more widely applicable model users.  相似文献

We present a method for markerless tracking of complex human motions from multiple camera views. In the absence of markers, the task of recovering the pose of a person during such motions is challenging and requires strong image features and robust tracking. We propose a solution which integrates multiple image cues such as edges, color information and volumetric reconstruction. We show that a combination of multiple image cues helps the tracker to overcome ambiguous situations such as limbs touching or strong occlusions of body parts. Following a model-based approach, we match an articulated body model built from superellipsoids against these image cues. Stochastic Meta Descent (SMD) optimization is used to find the pose which best matches the images. Stochastic sampling makes SMD robust against local minima and lowers the computational costs as a small set of predicted image features is sufficient for optimization. The power of SMD is demonstrated by comparing it to the commonly used Levenberg–Marquardt method. Results are shown for several challenging sequences showing complex motions and full articulation, with tracking of 24 degrees of freedom in ≈1 frame per second.  相似文献

Geometric constraints are at the heart of parametric and feature-based CAD systems. Changing values of geometric constraint parameters is one of the most common operations in such systems. However, because allowable parameter values are not known to the user beforehand, this is often a trial-and-error process. We present an approach for automatically determining the allowable range for parameters of geometric constraints. Considered are systems of distance and angle constraints on points in 3D that can be decomposed into triangular and tetrahedral subproblems, by which most practical situations in parametric and feature-based CAD systems can be represented. Our method uses the decomposition to find critical parameter values for which subproblems degenerate. By solving one problem instance for each interval between two subsequent critical values, the exact parameter range is determined for which a solution exists.  相似文献

A numerical method for ordinary differential equations is called symplectic if, when applied to Hamiltonian problems, it preserves the symplectic structure in phase space, thus reproducing the main qualitative property of solutions of Hamiltonian systems. In a previous paper [G. Vanden Berghe, M. Van Daele, H. Van de Vyver, Exponential fitted Runge-Kutta methods of collocation type: fixed or variable knot points?, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 159 (2003) 217-239] some exponentially fitted RK methods of collocation type are proposed. In particular, three different versions of fourth-order exponentially fitted Gauss methods are described. It is well known that classical Gauss methods are symplectic. In contrast, the exponentially fitted versions given in [G. Vanden Berghe, M. Van Daele, H. Van de Vyver, Exponential fitted Runge-Kutta methods of collocation type: fixed or variable knot points?, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 159 (2003) 217-239] do not share this property. This paper deals with the construction of a fourth-order symplectic exponentially fitted modified Gauss method. The RK method is modified in the sense that two free parameters are added to the Buthcher tableau in order to retain symplecticity.  相似文献
