The palmitoyl ester of N-hydroxypyridine-2-thione displayed useful chain transfer properties in free radical polymerizations of methyl methacrylate and styrene. Retardation, however, accompanied the lowering of molecular weight in methyl acrylate and vinyl acetate polymerizations. 4-Methyl-3-palmitoyloxythiazol-2(3H)-thione had good chain transfer activity with methyl methacrylate, styrene and methyl acrylate. Although benzyl thionobenzoate exhibited virtually ‘ideal’ behaviour (chain transfer constant Cx ~1) in styrene and methyl acrylate polymerizations, it was ineffective in lowering molecular weight of poly(methyl methacrylate). Severe retardation was observed with vinyl acetate. Addition-fragmentation pathways are postulated for chain transfer.  相似文献

This study aimed to identify the ontogenetic period during which long-term expression of behavioral sensitization to cocaine begins to emerge. Rat pups aged 4, 8, 12, or 16 days received a pretreatment of 4 daily injections of 15 mg/kg sc: cocaine paired with the test chamber for 45 min. Pups were then tested for sensitization in that context after abstinence intervals ranging from 2 to 10 days. On test days, pups were videotaped, and their behavior was scored later. Sensitization was detected after intervals of 2, 4, 5, or 9 days in pups aged 4–7, 8–11, 12–15, or 16–19 days during pretreatment, respectively. These results suggest that the mechanisms for long-term retention of sensitization mature incrementally in the rat, starting to emerge gradually after the 1st week of age, whereas those relevant to short-term retention and initiation of sensitization are present earlier. This paper provides an overview and discusses some recent developments in radical polymerization with reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT polymerization). Guidelines for the selection of RAFT agents are presented. The utility of the RAFT process is then illustrated with several examples of the synthesis of polymers with reactive end-groups. Thus, RAFT polymerization with appropriately designed trithiocarbonate RAFT agents is successfully applied to the synthesis of narrow polydispersity carboxy-functional poly(methyl methacrylate) and primary amino-functional polystyrene. Methods for removing the thiocarbonylthio end-group by aminolysis, reduction and thermal elimination are discussed. It is shown that the thiocarbonylthio end-group can be cleanly cleaved by radical induced reduction with tri-n-butylstannane, to leave a saturated chain end, or by thermolysis, to leave an unsaturated chain end.  相似文献

The research work described in the paper focused on fatigue and healing properties of bituminous mastics reinforced with nano-sized additives.Commercially available multiwall carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and montmorillonite nanoclay (NC) were combined with a single base bitumen and a standard mineral filler to produce bituminous mastics. These blends were prepared in the laboratory by making use of a technique consisting in simple shear mixing followed by sonication.Fatigue behaviour of mastics under repeated loading was investigated by means of time sweeps performed in the strain-controlled mode at various amplitudes. Healing potential was assessed by adopting a testing protocol specifically conceived to discriminate between recovery of damage induced by fatigue loading and other artefact phenomena which may affect material response. All rheological measurements were carried out with a dynamic shear rheometer in the parallel plates geometry.Outcomes of the experimental investigation were found to be highly dependent on the nature of additive type, as a result of the key role played by interaction mechanisms that nano-particles can establish within the bituminous mastic.  相似文献

Pathological processes cause abnormal regional motions of the heart. Regional wall motion analyses are important to evaluate the success of therapy, especially of cell therapy, since the recovery of the heart in cell therapy proceeds slowly and results in only small changes of ventricular wall motility. The usual ultrasound imaging of heart motion is too inaccurate to be considered as an appropriate method. MRI studies are more accurate, but insufficient to reliably detect small changes in regional ventricular wall motility. We thus aim at a more accurate method of motion analysis. Our approach is based on two imaging modalities, viz. cardiac CT and biplane cineangiography. The epicardial surface represented in the CT data set at the end of the diastole is registered to the three-dimensionally reconstructed epicardial artery tree from the angiograms in end-diastolic position. The motion tracking procedures are carried out by applying thin-plate spline transformations between the epicardial artery trees belonging to consecutive frames of our cineangiographic imagery.  相似文献

Context

Data warehouse conceptual design is based on the metaphor of the cube, which can be derived from either requirement-driven or data-driven methodologies. Each methodology has its own advantages. The first allows designers to obtain a conceptual schema very close to the user needs but it may be not supported by the effective data availability. On the contrary, the second ensures a perfect traceability and consistence with the data sources—in fact, it guarantees the presence of data to be used in analytical processing—but does not preserve from missing business user needs. To face this issue, the necessity emerged in the last years to define hybrid methodologies for conceptual design.

Objective

The objective of the paper is to use a hybrid methodology based on different multidimensional models in order to gather all advantages of each of them.

Method

The proposed methodology integrates the requirement-driven strategy with the data-driven one, in that order, possibly performing alterations of functional dependencies on UML multidimensional schemas reconciled with data sources.

Results

As case study, we illustrate how our methodology can be applied to the university environment. Furthermore, we evaluate quantitatively the benefits of this methodology by comparing it with some popular and conventional methodologies.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we highlight how the hybrid methodology improves the conceptual schema quality. Finally, we outline our present work devoted to introduce automatic design techniques in the methodology on the basis of the logical programming.  相似文献

The influence of glass fibres on the primary nucleation process, isothermal radial growth rate of spherulites and overall kinetic rate constant of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) has been examined. The polypropylene was also modified by means of acrylic acid (iPP*) in order to improve the adhesion between the matrix and the fibres, and the relative properties were compared with those concerning the composites having as matrix plain MR Moreover the mechanical properties of injection-moulded composites containing iPP and iPP* have been studied. These properties improved on increasing the fibre content. It was found that for the same glass-fibre content better values of the elongation at break and creep are observed in the case of reinforced polypropylenes having as matrix acrylic acid modified polypropylene.  相似文献

We define a subclass of timed automata, called oscillator timed automata, suitable to model biological oscillators. Coupled biological oscillators may synchronise, as emerging behaviour, after a period of time in which they interact through physical or chemical means. We introduce a parametric semantics for their interaction that is general enough to capture the behaviour of different types of oscillators. We instantiate it both to the Kuramoto model, a model of synchronisation based on smooth interaction, and to the Peskin model of pacemaker cells in the heart, a model of synchronisation based on pulse interaction. We also introduce a logic, Biological Oscillators Synchronisation Logic (BOSL), that is able to describe collective synchronisation properties of a population of coupled oscillators. A model checking algorithm is proposed for the defined logic and it is implemented in a model checker. The model checker can be used to detect synchronisation properties of a given population of oscillators. This tool might be the basic step towards the generation of suitable techniques to control and regulate the behaviour of coupled oscillators in order to ensure the reachability of synchronisation.  相似文献
