This paper shows that breaking the barrier of 1 triangle/clock rasterization rate for microtriangles in modern GPU architectures in an efficient way is possible. The fixed throughput of the special purpose culling and triangle setup stages of the classic pipeline limits the GPU scalability to rasterize many triangles in parallel when these cover very few pixels. In contrast, the shader core counts and increasing GFLOPs in modern GPUs clearly suggests parallelizing this computation entirely across multiple shader threads, making use of the powerful wide-ALU instructions. In this paper, we present a very efficient SIMD-like rasterization code targeted at very small triangles that scales very well with the number of shader cores and has higher performance than traditional edge equation based algorithms. We have extended the ATTILA GPU shader ISA (del Barrioet al. in IEEE International Symposium on Performance Analysis of Systems and Software, pp. 231–241, 2006) with two fixed point instructions to meet the rasterization precision requirement. This paper also introduces a novel subpixel Bounding Box size optimization that adjusts the bounds much more finely, which is critical for small triangles, and doubles the 2×2-pixel stamp test efficiency. The proposed shader rasterization program can run on top of the original pixel shader program in such a way that selected fragments are rasterized, attribute interpolated and pixel shaded in the same pass. Our results show that our technique yields better performance than a classic rasterizer at 8 or more shader cores, with speedups as high as 4× for 16 shader cores.  相似文献

Halofenate, a serum lipid-lowering agent which inhibits binding of thyroid hormone to thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG), was administered daily for 14 days to 8 hypothyroid subjects with elevated TSH concentrations as a result of incomplete thyroxine (T4) therapy. Drug administration resulted in mean increases in serum dialyzable fraction T4 (DFT4) of 52% over pretreatment levels (P less than 0.01) and in dialyzable fraction triiodothyronine (DFT3) of 26% in 7 subjects, (P less than 0.01). During halofenate treatment in these 7 subjects, serum TSH concentrations decreased significantly (mean = 39%, P less than 0.01) when DFT4 and DFT3 were increased by halofenate. In only two subjects was there a convincing temporal relationship between increased serum absolute free T4 (AFT4) and decreased serum TSH concentrations. Contrary to what would be predicted from the "free hormone hypothesis", changes in serum TSH concentration in these hypothyroid patients appeared to relate primarily to changes in the free fraction of circulating T4 and T3 (DFT4, DFT3), rather than to alterations in AFT4 or AFT3. Halofenate did not alter serum TBG binding capacity. An eighth subject did not show increased DFT4 and DFT3 during halofenate treatment despite achievement of therapeutic serum levels of the agent; in this patient, serum TSH levels rose progressively throughout the period of inadequate T4 replacement and halofenate administration. In hypothyroid patients, short-term halofenate use suggests that the pituitary-thyroid hormone feedback circuit can respond to increases in serum DFT4 and DFT3 in the absence of detactable increases in absolute free hormone concentrations.  相似文献

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is molecularly characterized by bcl-1 rearrangement and cyclin D1 gene overexpression. Some aggressive variants of MCL have been described with blastic or large cell morphology, higher proliferative activity, and shorter survival. The cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CDKIs) p21Waf1 and p16INK4a have been suggested as candidates for tumor-suppressor genes. To determine the role of p21Waf1 and p16INK4a gene alterations in MCLs, we examined the expression, deletions, and mutations of these genes in a series of 24 MCLs, 18 typical, and 6 aggressive variants. Loss of expression and/or deletions of p21Waf1 and p16INK4a genes were detected in 4 (67%) aggressive MCLs but in none of the typical variants. Two aggressive MCLs showed a loss of p16INK4a expression. These cases showed homozygous deletions of p16INK4a gene by Southern blot analysis. An additional aggressive MCL in which expression could not be examined showed a hemizygous 9p12 deletion. Loss of p21Waf1 expression at both protein and mRNA levels was detected in an additional aggressive MCL. No p21Waf1 gene deletions or mutations were found in this case. The p21Waf1 expression in MCLs was independent of p53 mutations. The two cases with p53 mutations showed p21Waf1 and p16INK4a expression whereas the 4 aggressive MCLs with p16INK4a and p21Waf1 gene alterations had a wild-type p53. p21Waf1 and p16INK4a were expressed at mRNA and protein levels in all typical MCLs examined. No gene deletions or point mutations were found in typical variants. Two typical MCLs showed an anomalous single-stranded conformation polymorphism corresponding to the known polymorphisms at codon 148 of p16INK4a gene and codon 31 of p21Waf1 gene. These findings indicate that p21Waf1 and p16INK4a alterations are rare in typical MCLs but the loss of p21Waf1 and p16INK4a expression, and deletions of p16INK4a gene are associated with aggressive variants of MCLs, and they occur in a subset of tumors with a wild-type p53 gene.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) apheresis provides an alternative to autologous marrow harvest as a source of hematologic stem cells for transplantation in children with solid tumors. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eight children with metastatic or recurrent solid tumors underwent 27 apheresis procedures. Recovery from myelosuppressive chemotherapy occurred without continuous daily growth factor support prior to mobilization. Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) at 16 microgs/kg/day was used to increase stem cells in the peripheral circulation. CD 34 positive cells, mononuclear cells (MNC), and CFU-GM were measured in the apheresis products. Prior chemotherapy was examined as a clinical factor that affected PBSC yield. RESULTS: A significant correlation was found between CD 34+/kg and CFU-GM/kg of the products (r = 0.758, P < 0.001). Patients receiving cumulative doses of carboplatin over 1,600 mg/m2 produced adequate MNC (1 x 10(8)/kg) but yielded significantly less CD 34+ cells or CFU-GM than those patients receiving less carboplatin. Prior doses of etoposide and ifosfamide did not effect PBSC yield. CONCLUSIONS: The mobilization technique was well tolerated, and the products obtained produced trilineage engraftment in the patients that underwent peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. Peripheral blood stem cell apheresis in children can be optimized by selection of appropriate candidates and mobilization with G-CSF after an absence of hematopoietic growth factor support.  相似文献

There have been few experience reports from industry on how Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) is applied and what the benefits are. This paper summarizes the experiences of three large industrial participants in a European research project with the objective of developing techniques and tools for applying MDE on the development of large and complex software systems. The participants had varying degrees of previous experience with MDE. They found MDE to be particularly useful for providing abstractions of complex systems at multiple levels or from different viewpoints, for the development of domain-specific models that facilitate communication with non-technical experts, for the purposes of simulation and testing, and for the consumption of models for analysis, such as performance-related decision support and system design improvements. From the industrial perspective, a methodology is considered to be useful and cost-efficient if it is possible to reuse solutions in multiple projects or products. However, developing reusable solutions required extra effort and sometimes had a negative impact on the performance of tools. While the companies identified several benefits of MDE, merging different tools with one another in a seamless development environment required several transformations, which increased the required implementation effort and complexity. Additionally, user-friendliness of tools and the provision of features for managing models of complex systems were identified as crucial for a wider industrial adoption of MDE.  相似文献

This work presents a classification of the manufacturing strategies of large Spanish industrial companies in Spain. For this purpose the various international empirical studies on alternative manufacturing strategies have been taken as a reference, reviewed and compared. The database used in this study is made up of information on 114 factories and has been designed using the information from a survey mailed to the industrial companies which have production plants in Spain and which in the financial year of 1994 (reference date of this research) employed over 200 workers. Cluster analysis methodology has been used and the classification criterion taken was the competitive advantages or strengths of each factory concerning the five competitive priorities in manufacturing: efficiency, flexibility, quality, delivery and customer service. Finally, this work identifies a taxonomy of the manufacturing strategies of a sample of the largest industrial companies in Spain, differentiating three alternative production strategies: flexible marketoriented manufacturers, low-cost quality manufacturers and delivery-based manufacturers. Large industrial companies analysed compete in manufacturing, basically following a choice of three criteria: flexibility, quality or delivery. The companies belonging to each of the three categories identified maintain common and lasting manufacturing objectives and policies.  相似文献

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) is known as a major feedstock for biofuel production. To improve its biomass yield through genetic research, manually measuring yield component traits (e.g. plant height, stem diameter, leaf angle, leaf area, leaf number, and panicle size) in the field is the current best practice. However, such laborious and time‐consuming tasks have become a bottleneck limiting experiment scale and data acquisition frequency. This paper presents a high‐throughput field‐based robotic phenotyping system which performed side‐view stereo imaging for dense sorghum plants with a wide range of plant heights throughout the growing season. Our study demonstrated the suitability of stereo vision for field‐based three‐dimensional plant phenotyping when recent advances in stereo matching algorithms were incorporated. A robust data processing pipeline was developed to quantify the variations or morphological traits in plant architecture, which included plot‐based plant height, plot‐based plant width, convex hull volume, plant surface area, and stem diameter (semiautomated). These image‐derived measurements were highly repeatable and showed high correlations with the in‐field manual measurements. Meanwhile, manually collecting the same traits required a large amount of manpower and time compared to the robotic system. The results demonstrated that the proposed system could be a promising tool for large‐scale field‐based high‐throughput plant phenotyping of bioenergy crops.  相似文献

Nutritional research is currently entering the field of personalized nutrition, to a large extent driven by major technological breakthroughs in analytical sciences and biocomputing. An efficient launching of the personalized approach depends on the ability of researchers to comprehensively monitor and characterize interindividual variability in the activity of the human gastrointestinal tract. This information is currently not available in such a form. This review therefore aims at identifying and discussing published data, providing evidence on interindividual variability in the processing of the major nutrients, i.e., protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, along the gastrointestinal tract, including oral processing, intestinal digestion, and absorption. Although interindividual variability is not a primary endpoint of most studies identified, a significant number of publications provides a wealth of information on this topic for each category of nutrients. This knowledge remains fragmented, however, and understanding the clinical relevance of most of the interindividual responses to food ingestion described in this review remains unclear. In that regard, this review has identified a gap and sets the base for future research addressing the issue of the interindividual variability in the response of the human organism to the ingestion of foods.  相似文献
