This paper describes the synthesis of non-fragile or resilient regulators for linear systems. A general framework for fragility is described using state-space methodologies, and the LQ/H2 static state-feedback problem is examined in detail. We discuss the multiplicative structured uncertainties case, and propose remedies of the fragility problem using an optimization programming framework via matrix inequalities. A special case that leads to a convex optimization framework via linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) will be considered. The benchmark problem is taken as an example to show how special controller gain variations can affect the performance of the closed-loop system.  相似文献

A sulfonated methacrylate monolithic polymer has been synthesized inside fused-silica capillaries of diameters 50-533-microm i.d. and coated with 65-nm-diameter fully functionalized quaternary ammonium latex particles (AS18, Dionex Corp.) to form an anion-exchange stationary phase. This stationary phase was used for ion-exchange capillary electrochromatography of inorganic anions in a 75-microm-i.d. capillary with Tris/perchlorate electrolyte and direct UV detection at 195 nm. Seven inorganic anions (bromide, nitrate, iodide, iodate, bromate, thiocyanate, chromate) could be separated over a period of 90 s, and the elution order indicated that both ion exchange and electrophoresis contributed to the separation mechanism. Separation efficiencies of up to 1.66 x 10(5) plates m(-1) were achieved, and the monoliths were stable under pressures of up to 62 MPa. Another latex-coated monolith in a 250-microm-i.d. capillary was used for in-line preconcentration by coupling it to a separation capillary in which the EOF had been reversed using a coating of either a cationic polymer or cationic latex particles. Several capillary volumes of sample were loaded onto the preconcentration monolith, and the analytes (inorganic anions) were then eluted from the monolith with a transient isotachophoretic gradient before being separated by electrophoresis in the separation capillary. Linear calibration curves were obtained for aqueous mixtures of bromide, nitrite, nitrate, and iodide. Recoveries of all analytes except iodide were reduced significantly when the sample matrix contained high levels of chloride. The preconcentration method was applied to the determination of iodide in open ocean water and provided a limit of detection of 75 pM (9.5 ng/L) calculated at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3. The relative standard deviation for migration time and peak area for iodide were 1.1 and 2.7%, respectively (n = 6). Iodide was eluted as an efficient peak, yielding a separation efficiency of 5.13 x 10(7) plates m(-1). This focusing was reproducible for repeated analyses of seawater.  相似文献

We have developed a computer program for the rapid assessment of the primary structure differences between a protein of unknown sequence and a homologous known protein. Both proteins are reduced, alkylated, and digested with the same hydrolytic agent. The unfractionated peptide mixtures are submitted to automatic sequence analysis. Based on the knowledge of the reference sequence, the program utilizes the analysis data to identify all the potential peptides present in the two mixtures, determining their primary structure, homology degree, and molecular weight calculated both as integer MH+ and average mass variables. These fingerprints allow the user to easily identify the structural differences between the two proteins and clarify possible doubts by a mass spectrometric analysis of the two mixtures. In order to verify the utility of the program, we provide an application example using the already reported data of two homologous proteins.  相似文献

Pita bread loaves were prepared from flours fortified with calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, and tricalcium dicitrate at 8 ascending levels to provide ranges of 800 to 2500, 700 to 1500, and 400 to 2000 mg of added Ca/100 g flour, respectively. The detection thresholds of calcium salts in pita bread were determined by the 3‐alter‐native forced choice (3‐AFC) test and construction of dose‐response curves. Detection thresholds determined by calculating geometric mean of individual best estimate thresholds, using criterion of 50%‐above‐chance and probit analysis of 3‐AFC data, were in the middle region of calcium concentrations. Analysis of dose‐response curves yielded values for thresholds outside the range of surveyed calcium concentrations. The detection threshold of CaSO4 (2724 mg/100 g) in pita bread was significantly higher (P < 0.01) than those of calcium carbonate (1984 mg/100 g) and tricalcium dicitrate (2132 mg/100 g). Calcium‐fortified pita bread was similar (P < 0.01) to its regular counterpart when formulated to contain 1254.6, 1772.5, or 1155 mg/100 g of CaCO3, CaSO4, or tricalcium dicitrate, respectively. At the indicated levels of fortification, calcium‐fortified pita bread is expected to provide between 61% and 126.5% of the recommended daily intake for calcium for Middle Eastern populations.  相似文献

Measurements were made of the noise suppression and signal enhancement properties of dual In/sub 0.53/Ga/sub 0.47/As-InP metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodiodes integrated with a leaky mode In/sub 0.52/Al/sub 0.48/As waveguide directional coupler, and an electro-optic phase shifter. The experiments were done with a 1.3- mu m laser as the local oscillator. A noise suppression of 11 dB and signal enhancement of 1.3 dB were recorded for the MSM photodiodes.<>  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the role of tumor persistence in patients submitted to irradiation therapy and radical hysterectomy. DESIGN: A retrospective analysis of prognostic factors. LOCATION: Hospital A.C. Camargo, S?o Paulo, Brazil, a private non-profitmaking foundation and tertiary referral centre. PATIENTS: A total of 629 cases of invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix were studied. Criteria for inclusion in the study were: confirmed histological diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma and no previous treatment (except for preoperative radiotherapy carried out at the Hospital A.C. Camargo itself). At the end of the follow-up period, 410 patients (65%) had no evidence of disease and 219 (34.8%) had died because of the tumor. INTERVENTION: The patients were submitted to radical surgery and radiation therapy, separately or in combination between 1953 and 1982. MAIN OUTCOMES MEASURES: Multivariate analysis of the different variables was performed according to the Cox regression method. RESULTS: The variables of prognostic value were, in decreasing order of importance: the decade of patient admission (p = 0.0001), the modality of therapy employed (p = 0.0005), the presence of residual tumor in the surgical specimens (p = 0.0055) and the clinical stage of the disease (p = 0.0575). CONCLUSION: Radiation therapy controlled a considerable number of local tumors and pelvic lymph nodes but not all of them in every patient. There is a specific group of patients for whom radical surgery is necessary to achieve control of the disease.  相似文献

Repair and regeneration of damaged bone is believed to be regulated in part by growth factors stored in the bone matrix. These growth factors are synthesized and secreted by osteoblasts and are incorporated into the developing bone. This pool of stored growth factors is then released into the immediate area following resorption of the matrix. One of the initial steps in bone repair is the recruitment of osteoblasts to the repair site. Growth factors, such as TGF-beta and PDGF, which are present in bone matrix, have been shown to be chemotactic for osteoblasts. In this study, primary cultures of osteoblasts isolated from fetal rat calvaria were examined for chemotaxis in response to IGF-I and IGF-II. IGF-I stimulated a dose-dependent increase in osteoblast chemotaxis, while IGF-II stimulated chemotaxis maximally at the lowest concentration studied (0.1 ng/ml), and had no effect at the highest concentration studied (100 ng/ml). IGF-I and -II had no effect on osteoblast proliferation at any of the concentrations examined. These results indicate that IGFs may be playing an important role in the early stages of bone repair by stimulating osteoblast chemotaxis to the repair site.  相似文献

We have evaluated the extent of public concerns about water management in the Palestinian Territory (PT) through a survey of the main Palestinian newspaper over the last thirteen years divided in three periods: pre (1984–1987), during (1988–1991), and post national uprising period (1992–1996). The public concern in the PT about various water management aspects was clear and influenced by the prevailing political conditions indicating (1) poor concerns in the first and second period where full Israeli military control of the PT and harsh practices prevailed with relatively more emphasis on regional water issues and (2) extensive-strong concerns in the third period when the peace process started and a partial lift of some of the Israeli water practices took place, along with an increased freedom in expressing public concerns which was granted with more emphasis on local issues and problems. Lack and limitation of water available to Palestinians, alternative solutions, and water quality and pollution control constituted the overwhelming majority of the topics of concern to the public for the three periods studied. Palestinian concerns were always greater than regional ones for the three periods and all of the topics considered. Public concern in the PT about all other water management aspects was poor and negligible especially in the first two periods. A massive increase in public concern has been observed in the third period in which the public expressed their concern over most water management aspects, indicating a possible change in public attitude toward water and water management and reflecting the change of the political status by the start of the peace process and the signing of the peace agreements.  相似文献
