Contents The conductance of air-gaps with double-sided slotting is generally considered with the assumption that the flux lines are radially directed only. Calculations allowing for the two-dimensional nature of air-gap fields, however, show a different situation with regard to the effect of slotting, especially at the higher harmonic orders. Calculated curves and tables are presented to illustrate the correlation between these two ways of approach for two slot combinations under excitation by a single coil, and also to establish the way in which the harmonics vary with changing rotor position.

Übersicht Der Leitwert von Luftspalten mit beiderseitiger Nutung wird gewöhnlich unter der Voraussetzung betrachtet, daß die Feldlinien ausschließlich radial verlaufen. Berechnungen unter Berücksichtigung des zweidimensionalen Charakters des Luftspaltfeldes zeigen jedoch, insbesondere bei den höheren Harmonischen, bezüglich der Auswirkung der Nutung ein anderes Bild. Es werden berechnete Kurven und Tabellen vorgelegt, mit denen der Zusammenhang zwischen den beiden Methoden für zwei Nut-Kombinationen mit Erregung durch eine Spule untersucht wird. Außerdem werden die Änderungen der Harmonischen mit der veränderlichen Rotorposition betrachtet.

In this paper the electric field in the aperture of offset front-fed paraboloid antennas and open Cassegrainian antennas, excited by an electric dipole or Huygens source in the focus, is compared with the fields of front-fed circularly symmetrical paraboloid reflector antennas and classical Cassegrainian antennas. The aperture field forms the basis of expressions to calculate the polarization efficiency of all four types of antenna. Computed results are given, showing that offset antennas can compete with front-fed paraboloids if they are excited by an electric dipole; the classical Cassegrainian antenna, however, shows better results. If offset antennas are excited by a Huygens source, the result is very unfavorable compared with the symmetrical antennas which show no cross polarization.  相似文献

1H magnetic resonance (MR) spectroscopy is a useful tool to obtain metabolic information from the brain in paediatric patients. To detect signals of metabolites at low concentrations or from small volumes, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) has to be optimized. The SNR can be increased by going to higher field strengths. However, this leads to higher spectral bandwidths, which increases the chemical shift artefact. Here we present a transmit/receive headcoil which is adapted to the dimensions of the paediatric head and enables PRESS localization with high radio-frequency (RF) bandwidths that minimize the chemical shift displacement to only 5%. In addition, since the pulse lengths are shorter with higher RF bandwidths, the echo time can be reduced to 10 ms improving SNR as well.Parts of this work have been presented at the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology in Rotterdam in 2003  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of colon cancer metastases in rat liver at 7 T. A dedicated RF microstrip coil of novel design was built in order to increase the signal-to-noise ratio and, in combination with respiratory triggering, to minimize motion artifacts. T1- and T2-weighted MR imaging was performed to follow tumor growth. T1-weighted images provided a good anatomical delineation of the liver structure, while the best contrast between metastases and normal liver tissue was achieved with T2-weighted images.Measurements of T1 and T2 relaxation times were performed with inversion recovery FLASH and Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill and inversion recovery FLASH imaging sequences, respectively, for quantitative MR characterization of metastases. Both the T1 and T2 of the metastases were significantly higher than those of normal liver tissue. Further, an increase in the T1 relaxation time of the metastases was observed with tumor growth. These findings suggest that quantitative in vivo MR characterization provides information on tumor development and possibly response to therapy, though additional studies are needed to elucidate the correlation between the changes in relaxation times and tumor microenvironment.  相似文献

Enterobacter sakazakii is a motile, peritrichous, gram-negative rod that was previously known as a yellow pigmented Enterobacter cloacae. It is documented as a rare cause of outbreaks and sporadic cases of life-threatening neonatal meningitis, necrotizing enterocolitis, and sepsis. E. sakazakii has been isolated from milk powder-based formulas, and there is thus a need to investigate whether and where E. sakazakii occurs in these manufacturing environments. For this purpose, a simple detection method was developed based on two features of E. sakazakii: its yellow pigmented colonies when grown on tryptone soy agar and its constitutive alpha-glucosidase, which is detected in a 4-h colorimetric assay. Using this screening method, E. sakazakii strains were isolated from three individual factories from 18 of 152 environmental samples, such as scrapings from dust, vacuum cleaner bags, and spilled product near equipment. The method is useful for routine screening of environmental samples for the presence of E. sakazakii.  相似文献

Due to regular challenges of food safety, consumers put high demands on the performance of food quality systems. To deal with these requirements, food manufacturers need effective quality management. Performance of food quality systems can be partly realized by quality assurance systems, such as HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control point), ISO (international organization for standardization), and BRC (british retail consortium). However, it is still unknown to what extent these systems factually contribute to the realization of quality in the wider sense. Therefore, an instrument is needed that measures the effectiveness of quality systems. This article describes the evaluation of instruments on their suitability for the development of a diagnostic instrument that measures the effectiveness of food quality systems. For this evaluation, perspectives of quality, typical characteristics of agrifood production, quantification, and performance measurement of quality management were studied. Instruments that measure the performance of both quality management and production quality were identified and evaluated on the basis of the defined criteria. The criteria for the performance of production quality were 6 quality dimensions, i.e., product quality, availability, costs,flexibility, reliability, and service. The criteria for performance of quality management were analyses of the relationships between quality management, context of the organization, and production quality, a normative procedure, validation, applicability, classification, and a process approach. Finally, for the final instrument, the evaluation resulted in an integrated approach i.e., a technomanagerial approach, and 3 suitable instruments i.e., Wageningen Management Approach, Extended Quality Triangle, and the quality concept of Noori and Radford.  相似文献

A method for determining the concentration of active microbial biomass in granular activated carbon (GAC) filters used in water treatment was developed to facilitate studies on the interactions between adsorption processes and biological activity in such filters. High-energy sonication at a power input of 40 W was applied to GAC samples for the detachment of biomass which was measured as adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Modelling of biomass removal indicated that a series of six to eight sonication treatments of 2 min each yielded more than 90% of the attached active biomass. The ATP concentrations in 30 different GAC filters at nine treatment plants in The Netherlands ranged from 25 to 5000 ng ATP cm(-3) GAC, with the highest concentrations at long filter run times and pretreatment with ozone. A similar concentration range was observed in nine rapid sand (RS) filters. ATP concentrations correlated significantly (p<0.05) with total direct bacterial cell counts in each of these filter types, but the median value of the ATP content per cell in GAC filters (2.1 x 10(-8) ng ATP/cell) was much lower than in the RS filters (3.6 x 10(-7) ng ATP/cell). Average biofilm concentrations ranging from 500 to 10(5) pg ATP cm(-2) were calculated assuming spherical shapes for the GAC particles but values were about 20 times lower when the surface of pores >1 microm diameter is included in these calculations. The quantitative biomass analysis with ATP enables direct comparisons with biofilm concentrations reported for spiral wound membranes used in water treatment, for distribution system pipes and other aquatic environments.  相似文献
