Dynamic strain aging has been investigated at temperatures between 77 and 1100 K in eight polycrystalline NiAl alloys. The 0.2% offset yield stress and work hardening rates for these alloys generally decreased with increasing temperature. However, local plateaus or maxima were observed in conventional purity and carbon doped alloys at intermediate temperatures (600–900 K). This anomalous behavior was not observed in low interstitial high-purity, nitrogen doped, or in titanium doped materials. Low or negative strain rate sensitivities (SRS) were also observed in all eight alloys in this intermediate temperature range. Coincident with the occurrence of negative SRS was the occurrence of serrated flow in conventional purity alloys containing high concentrations of Si in addition to C. These phenomena have been attributed to dynamic strain aging (DSA). Chemical analysis of the alloys used in this study suggests that the main species causing strain aging in polycrystalline NiAl is C but indicate that residual Si impurities can enhance the strain aging effect. 相似文献

In the scintillation mechanism for alkali iodides doped with thallous iodide: 1. Most of the luminescence, and possibly all of it, is from recombination and therefore energy transfer is predominantly from charge transport to thallium. 2. There are two modes of recombination at thallium which differ in the sequence of charge trapping at Tl+. The electron may be trapped before a mobile hole recombines with it, or the hole may be trapped before recombination with a free electron. 3. Thermal hole diffusion is an important process at room temperature and determines which mode a recombination event follows. 4. Both modes of recombination are active. 5. The driving force for active transport of Na+ in the isolated toad bladder, ENa, was measured as the reciprocal slope of the change in conductance with change in short-circuit current after stimulation with antidiuretic hormone. The base-line short-circuit current was altered by change in ambient Na+ concentration or addition of amiloride, maneuvers which alter availability of Na+ at the site of active transport. In the absence of a chemical gradient for Na+ across the bladder, ENa was found to be inversely related to the rate of Na+ transport, a finding incompatible with the simple electrical analogue that has been proposed for the system. Peripheral blood eosinophils from patients with eosinophilia and from healthy subjects were studied for surface immunoglobulins, receptors for the Fc region of IgG, complement receptors, and spontaneous rosette formation with sheep and mouse erythrocytes. Eosinophils were found to have receptors for complement and for aggregated IgG, and to have the same two types of complement receptors as do lymphocytes and monocytes. Immune adherence type receptors were specific for C4 or C3b, while C3d receptors were specific for C3d but unreactive with C4. Eosinophils differed from fully mature neutrophils in that the former had C3d receptors and relatively weak immune adherence (C4 or C3b) receptors, while the later did not have the C3d receptors and had strong immune adherence receptors. Eosinophil phagocytosis of complement-receptor bound erythrocytes was dependent on the presence of IgG in the antibody coating the red blood cells; this requirement for IgG resembled that found in neutrophil phagocytosis.
