A macroscopic carbon nanotube (CNT) sheet‐based heating element having flexible, stretchable, and damage‐tolerant features, and wide applicability in harsh environments, is introduced. Because of the intrinsic connection of extremely flexible CNT bundles throughout the sample by van der Waals interactions without use of a binder, the electrical resistance variation of the CNT sheet on elastomer heating element as a function of strain is completely suppressed to some extent, even when stretched under up to 400% strain, which guarantees electrical stability under severe mechanical deformation. In addition, the spatial uniformity of the heat generated from the microaligned CNT bundles reduces the temperature variation inside the sample, which also guarantees thermal stability and operation at a higher average temperature. Such exceptional performance is achieved by the passivation of the elastomer layer on the CNT sheets. Furthermore, the mechanical robustness of this flexible, stretchable heating element is demonstrated by stable heater operation, even when the heating element is damaged. In addition, this design concept of CNT sheet on elastomer is extended to transparent flexible heaters and electric‐thermochromic windows. 相似文献

As manufacturing systems have grown in size and complexity, material flow control has become one of the key issues for system
efficiency, and determination of the number of vehicles required is an important issue in the design of the AGV (automatic
guided vehicle) systems for automated material flow control. In an AGV system, a part issues a delivery request for its transportation,
and then an empty vehicle is assigned based on a pre-determined vehicle selection rule and provides delivery service.
This research presents a fleet sizing procedure for an AGV system with multiple pickup and delivery stations. A queueing model
is used to estimate part waiting times. The fleet sizing procedure estimates the minimum number of vehicles needed to ensure
a predefined part waiting time limit. While most stochastic models assume first-come-first-served or random vehicle selection
rules for the selection of an empty vehicle, this model considers such additional rules as the nearest vehicle selection rule,
which is the most popular among all vehicle selection rules. The performance of the proposed model is examined through computational
experiments.

We have developed a nonconventional broadband electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrometer operating continuously in the frequency range from 0.5 to 9 GHz. Dual antenna structure and the microwave absorbing environment differentiate the setup from the conventional one and enable broadband operation with any combination of frequency or magnetic field modulation and frequency or magnetic field sweeping. Its performance has been tested with the measurements on a 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) sample and with the measurements on the single molecular magnet, V6, in solid state at low temperature. 相似文献

Traditional methods for assessing the neurocognitive effects of epilepsy surgery are confounded by practice effects, test-retest reliability issues, and regression to the mean. This study employs 2 methods for assessing individual change that allow direct comparison of changes across both individuals and test measures. Fifty-one medically intractable epilepsy patients completed a comprehensive neuropsychological battery twice, approximately 8 months apart, prior to any invasive monitoring or surgical intervention. First, a Reliable Change (RC) index score was computed for each test score to take into account the reliability of that measure, and a cutoff score was empirically derived to establish the limits of statistically reliable change. These indices were subsequently adjusted for expected practice effects. The second approach used a regression technique to establish "change norms" along a common metric that models both expected practice effects and regression to the mean. The RC index scores provide the clinician with a statistical means of determining whether a patient's retest performance is "significantly" changed from baseline. The regression norms for change allow the clinician to evaluate the magnitude of a given patient's change on 1 or more variables along a common metric that takes into account the reliability and stability of each test measure. Case data illustrate how these methods provide an empirically grounded means for evaluating neurocognitive outcomes following medical interventions such as epilepsy surgery. 相似文献

Endoglucanase I (EG I) is a cellulase, from glycosyl hydrolase family 7, which cleaves the beta-1,4 linkages of cellulose with overall retention of configuration. The structure of the EG I from Fusarium oxysproum, complexed to a nonhydrolyzable thiooligosaccharide substrate analogue, has been determined by X-ray crystallography at a resolution of 2.7 A utilizing the 4-fold noncrystallographic symmetry present in the asymmetric unit. The electron density map clearly reveals the presence of three glucosyl units of the inhibitor, consistent with the known number of sugar-binding subsites, located at the active site of the enzyme in the -2, -1, and +1 subsites, i.e., actually spanning the point of enzymatic cleavage. The pyranose ring at the point of potential enzymatic cleavage is clearly distorted from the standard 4C1 chair as was originally suggested for beta-retaining enzymes by Phillips [Ford, L.O., Johnson, L.N., Machin, P. A., Phillips, D.C., & Tijan, T. (1974) J. Mol. Biol, 88, 349-371]. The distortion observed goes beyond the "sofa" conformation observed in previous studies and results in a conformation whose salient feature is the resulting quasi-axial orientation for the glycosidic bond and leaving group, as predicted by stereoelectronic theory. An almost identical conformation has recently been observed in a complex of chitobiase with its unhydrolyzed substrate [Tews, I., Perrakis, A., Oppenheim, A., Dauter, Z., Wilson, K. S., & Vorgias, C. E. (1996) Nat. Struct. Biol. 3, 638-648]. The striking similarity between these two complexes extends beyond the almost identical pyranose ring distortion. The overlap of the two respective sugars places the enzymatic nucleophile of endoglucanase I in coincidence with the C2 acetamido oxygen of N-acetylglucosamine in the catalytic site of the chitobiase, substantiating the involvement of this group in the catalytic mechanism of chitobiase and related chitinolytic enzymes. The endoglucanase I complex with the thiosaccharide substrate analogue clearly illustrates the potential of nonhydrolyzable sulfur-linked oligosaccharides in the elucidation of substrate binding and catalysis by glycosyl hydrolases. 相似文献

In order to establish a genotype-phenotype relationship, we have identified both mutant phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) genes in 108 phenylketonuria (PKU) patients (27 different alleles, 54 different genotypes). One major group of patients with very high pretreatment phenylalanine values ("classical" PKU) exclusively comprised homozygotes of the PKU mutations I65T, G272X, F299C, Y356X, R408W, IVS12nt1, and compound heterozygotes of various combinations of these alleles with G46S, R261Q, R252W, A259T, R158Q, D143G, R243X, E280K, or Y204C. A second major group of patients with lower phenylalanine values ("mild" PKU) comprised mutations A300S, R408Q, Y414C in various compound heterozygous states, and R261Q, R408Q, Y414C in homozygotes. The phenylalanine values in these groups were non-overlapping. In addition, a smaller group of patients formed the transition between the two main groups. In sib pairs 4 of 15 had discordant pretreatment phenylalanine values. Conclusion: Our results are consistent with the view that allelic heterogeneity at the PAH locus dominates the biochemical phenotype in PKU and that genotype information is able to predict the metabolic phenotype in PKU patients. 相似文献

Venovenous access via a double-lumen cannula in the right internal jugular vein is the extracorporeal life support mode of choice for neonates with respiratory failure. We report a simplified method of cannulation. The advantages of this "semi-Seldinger" method include the ability to cannulate without ligating the internal jugular vein, and to adjust the position of the cannula and decannulate without re-exploring the wound. 相似文献

Current monitoring of critically ill patients uses measurement of global parameters such as oxygen consumption and lactate levels. With development of new monitoring technologies, it may be possible to monitor patients on an organ or tissue level, allowing manipulation of specific organ or tissue perfusion. Potentially useful techniques for monitoring tissue energetics in the future include NIR and NMR spectroscopy. However, both of these techniques are currently limited in their usefulness due to technical factors; NIR by its inability to monitor "silent" metabolically active organs and NMR by its cost, size, and interference of magnetic fields with electronic equipment. Both of these techniques may be useful for identification of dysoxia or oxygen-limited mitochondrial turnover. Experimental evidence suggests that organs in the septic state are more sensitive to dysoxia. Implications for the care of the patient with sepsis include possible decreased tolerance to factors leading to dysoxia, such as hypoxemia, hemodilution, or ischemia. 相似文献

The Uniform Double Layer (UDL) model of the cardiac generator is often used for forward simulation of body surface potentials (BSPs). The model also proved to be very useful for the inverse computation of heart activation. However, for the purposes of Myocardial Infarction (MI) modelling mostly the Multiple Dipole (MD) models are used. In our study, the ability of UDL model to represent the activation of the heart with an old MI was examined. The finite element model of the heart was used to simulate electrical activation of the heart with an old MI. Different locations of endocardial MI were used. For each of them three cases were considered according to the scale of the infarcted area: small and medium endocardial and large transmural. For the further computation of the electric field within the torso volume conductor two types of UDL representation of the cardiac generator were used. For the first UDL model, supposing the scared tissue to be unexcitable, an "infarcted" surface (different from the "healthy" surface) of activated myocardium was generated for each case of MI. Times when activation wavefront reached particular nodes on the surface served as an input for the forward computation of BSPs. To be able to understand the behaviour of the UDL, we also created the second UDL model, where the "infarcted activation sequence" was approximated on the original "healthy" heart surface. The BSPs were computed for each case of MI using both UDL cardiac generators. The boundary element method with the inhomogeneous volume conductor was used for computations. The BSPs generated by both models for the same case of MI were compared using the correlation coefficient. The results show, that it is possible to find an approximation of the "infarcted activation sequence" on the "healthy" heart generator surface in a way that BSPs generated by both models have a correlation coefficient higher than 0.96 for the entire period of depolarisation. Visualisation of the epicardial isochrones might help to understand the UDL model behaviour under the MI conditions.
