The workplace has been a source of lung injury for centuries, yet awareness of the types of injuries has varied over time. Because of distinctive differences among the occupational lung disorders, a continual update of the clinical findings, dose response data, physiologic characteristics, and radiographic findings is needed. The radiologist plays a key role for the evaluation of miners, foundry or factory workers exposed to mineral dusts, and of workers exposed to the "biologic" dusts, infectious agents, cancer causing agents, and chemicals causing interstitial lung diseases. This overview includes a discussion of classification systems, criteria for diagnosis of occupational lung diseases, the pulmonary clinician's evaluation, and important aspects of specific disorders and concludes with a discussion of pulmonary disability determination. 相似文献

Cellulose acetate carbamates (CACs) are the polymers which result when organic isocyanates are reacted with the free hydroxyl groups of cellulose acetate (CA). CACs are more hydrolytically stable and exhibit physical properties which are superior to those of their CA mixed ester analogs. Two synthetic approaches to CACs have been utilized in this study: (1) preformation, i.e., separate synthesis of such polymers prior to their inclusion in solutions for membrane casting; and (2) in situ formation, i.e., the inclusion of blocked isocyanates in standard dry process casting solutions of CA followed by thermal activation of the resultant dry membranes leading to regeneration of free isocyanate and subsequent CAC formation. Preformed CAC polymers have been prepared utilizing phenyl-, 3-chloropropyl-, 3-bromopropyl-, and 3-bromopropyl-(isothio)-, isocyanates. Polymers containing omega-halocarbamate moieties were quaternized with dimethylbenzylamine to produce ionogenic (QCAC) polymers containing quaternary ammonium groups. DRY-RO membranes from the QCACs exhibit flux/rejection values varying between 6–8 gfd at 98% rejection and 20 gfd at 90% rejection (0.5% NaCl feed at 400 psi and 25°C). In situ formation of CAC membranes has been effected with tolylene- and hexamethylene-diisocyantes, with quaternized isocyanate monomers employed for the preformed CAC polymers, and with specially tailored diisocyanates containing ionogenic groups. Crosslinking rendered all of the membranes acetone insoluble. Inasmuch as in situ formation substitutes the easy synthesis of blocked isocyanate monomers for the more difficult separate synthesis of preformed CAC polymers, it is anticipated that the former will replace the latter. 相似文献

Potentiostatic scratching experiments have been carried out on copper and 70-30 brass electrodes in acid and neutral electrolytes. The results are compared with published measurements of stress corrosion crack velocities in α-brass in neutral ammoniacal solutions. The plateau crack velocity at low strain-rates can be accounted for by stoichiometric bare surface oxidation of the alloy components, but at high strain-rates it is necessary to invoke rapid bare surface dezincification. Charge analysis shows that zinc dissolution can occur from several alloy layers at > 5 A cm?2 without appreciable anodic reaction of copper. In the domain of manufacturing, computer numerically controllers (CNC) technology is a major contributor to the production capacity of the enterprises. The advances in CNC technology coupled with enhancements in computing systems have provided the basis to re-examine the way in which computer-aided systems (CAx) can be used to enable global manufacturing. Interoperability of the various components of the CAx chain is therefore a major prerequisite for manufacturing enterprises for becoming strategically agile and consequently globally competitive. Being interoperable, resources can be utilized interchangeably in a plug-and-produce manner. Over the last 8 years the eminence of a STEP standard for machining entitled STEP-NC (numerical control) has become a well-known vehicle for research to improve the level of information availability at the CNC machine tool. In this paper, the authors introduce the background to the evolution of CNC manufacturing over the last 50 years and the current standards available for programming. A review of the literature in interoperable CNC manufacturing is then provided relating to milling, turn–mill and other NC processes. The major part of the paper provides a strategic view of how interoperability can be implemented across the CAx chain with a range of standards used to regulate the flow of information. Finally, the paper outlines the advantages and major issues for future developments in interoperability, identifying future key requirements and limiting factors. 相似文献
