The authors investigated the multi-step mechanism of healing after cardiomyoplasty, focusing on the process of angiogenesis. The authors contend that enhancement of angiogenesis and prevention of ischemia-reperfusion injuries immediately after muscle mobilization will be effective in improving cardiomyoplasty results. After cardiomyoplasty, autologous biologic glue (ABG) was administered between the latissimus dorsi muscle (LDM) and myocardium. By 2 months, a new pseudo interlayer was present that bridged the gap between the LDM and myocardium. Neovascularization was visible in the form of numerous small capillaries. Marked degeneration of the LDM was noted, possibly caused by muscle ischemia-reperfusion damage after mobilization. Pockets were created of ischemic and nonischemic LDM to test for angiogenesis. One was left free of ABG (control); one received ABG only; one received ABG and pyrrolostatin. Some of the capillaries were large and had erythrocytes inside. biopsy samples showed 9.4 +/- 1.9% of the sample was occupied by blood vessels (compared with 3.6 +/- 0.7% in control muscle). These preliminary studies prove the feasibility of the authors' concept and provide evidence that angiogenesis can accelerate the healing process and provide an organic bridge between the LDM and myocardium after cardiomyoplasty. 相似文献

The Probiotics (Lactic acid bacteria) represent a nutritional live microbial supplement that positively affects host by enhancing the microbial balance. A survey is made of the most relevant studies concerning the use of probiotics in the prevention and treatment of infantile acute diarrhoea (by rotavirus or other agents), pseudomembranous colitis, hospital-acquired and antibiotic-associated diarrhoeas. Although the probiotics mechanism of action is not yet completely understood, it has been hypothesized that they exert an inhibitory effect on the intestinal inflammation by immune response modulation. An intensified synthesis of glucose is observed in gluconeogenesis from endogenous precursor only for the first 30 min of perfusion. Pyruvate introduction into the medium raises phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase and fructose-1,6-diphosphatase activities in the liver and determines maintenance of the glucose formation high rate for 90 min of perfusion. 1,3-butanediol is found to have a stimulating effect on gluconeogenesis from pyruvate. Introduction of 1,3 bytanediol into perfusate decreases the redox state of free NAD-pairs, increases the content of phosphoenolpyruvate, malate. The activated coagulation time (ACT) test is technically simple, inexpensive, and commercially available and provides a rapid, accurate assessment of canine whole blood clotting time. The medium ACT for 72 normal dogs ranging in age from 6 monhts to 11 years was 75 seconds, with a range of from less than 60 seconds to 125 seconds and a mean of 77.5 seconds. The mitotic index of mouse corneal epithelium was studied during and after 0.5-- 24 hours exposures to 9.9-39.4 kilooersteds constant magnetic fields. It was shown that 0.5, 1 and 3 hours exposures to a 39.4 kilooersteds constant magnetic field inhibited the mitotic activity whereas 8 and 24 hours exposures caused its stimulation. The value and rate of mitotic index alterations decrease with a decrease of field strength. The effect of alpha-tocopherol and its derivatives on viability and growth of attached cells culture: human epithelioid carcinoma of cervix HeLa-S3K and human cervical carcinoma cell line C-4-1 according to protein content and level of alkaline phosphatase, as well to unattached cells: human acute leukemia cell cultures CEM-C-1 and CEM-C-7 according to the amount of viable cells in suspension has been studied.
