Estimation of the direct radiative forcing (DRF) by atmospheric particles is uncertain to a large extent owing to uncertainties in their morphology (shape and size), mixing states, and chemical composition. A region-specific database of the aforementioned physico-chemical properties (at individual particle level) is necessary to improve numerically-estimated optical and radiative properties. Till date, there is no detailed observation of the above mentioned properties over Kanpur in the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP). To fill this gap, an experiment was carried out at Kanpur (IITK; 26.52°N, 80.23°E, 142 m msl), India from April to July, 2011. Particle types broadly classified as (a) Cu-rich particles mixed with carbon and sulphur (b) dust and clays mixed with carbonaceous species (c) Fe-rich particles mixed with carbon and sulfur and (d) calcite (CaCO3) particles aged with nitrate, were observed. The frequency distributions of aspect ratio (AR; indicator of extent of particle non-sphericity) of total 708 particles from April to June reveal that particles with aspect ratio range >1.2 to ≤1.4 were abundant throughout the experiment except during June when it was found to shift to high AR range, >1.4 to ≤1.6 (followed with another peak of AR i.e. >2 to ≤2.4) due to dust storm conditions enhancing the occurrence of more non-spherical particles over the sampling site. The spherical particles (and close to spherical shape; AR range, 1.0 to ≤1.2) were found to be <20% throughout the experiment with a minimum (11.5%) during June. Consideration of Homogeneous Equivalent Sphere Approximation (HESA) in the optical/radiative model over the study region is found to be irrelevant during the campaign.  相似文献

Invariant chain (Ii) associates with class II MHC molecules and is crucial for Ag presentation by class II molecules. A general explanation for how invariant chain (Ii) associates with polymorphic MHC class II molecules has been suggested by the crystallographic structure of CLIP (class II-associated Ii peptide) complexed with an HLA class II molecule, HLA-DR3. We show here that methionine residues at positions 93 and 99 in Ii are important in MHC class II-mediated Ag presentation, but function in an allele-dependent manner. Introduction of a Met-->Ala mutation at position 99 in Ii (M99AIi) impaired presentation of peptides derived from exogenous proteins by I-Ad and I-Au class II molecules. Mutating Met-->Ala in Ii at position 93 (M93AIi) abrogated presentation by I-Au molecules, but not by I-Ad. Impaired Ag presentation was associated with conformationally altered expression of I-A molecules on the surface of cells expressing mutated Ii. Cell surface CLIP staining and immunoprecipitation studies showed that both I-Ad and I-Au molecules were associated with an increased abundance of Ii peptides, CLIP, in cells expressing mutated Ii. These results show that methionine 93 and methionine 99 play an important physiologic role in Ii association with class II molecules by regulating release of CLIP from class II in the endocytic compartments to allow binding of cognate peptides.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:  Processed dry tea leaves are prone to microbial contamination during post-processing handling and storage. The dry tea leaves may thus carry bacteria and fungi of potential health risk to consumers. Also, during storage under high humidity, absorption of moisture may encourage fungal growth and result in caking of the product. Gamma radiation processing was tried as a method for microbial decontamination. A radiation dose of 5 kGy was found to be effective for this purpose. No significant effect was observed on total phenolics in radiation-processed tea leaves. The antioxidant and biological properties of tea such as free radical scavenging activity, inhibition of xanthine oxidase and lipid peroxidation, and superoxide and nitrite scavenging activities were not affected due to radiation treatment within a dose of 10 kGy. The antimicrobial and sensory properties were also unaffected by the radiation treatment.  相似文献

Using argon as a diluent of SiH4, undoped hydrogenated microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H) films, having σD10−5 S cm−1, were prepared at a very high deposition rate of 36 Å/min. Micrograins were identified with several well-defined crystallographic orientations. The effect of variation of Ar-dilution on the electrical and structural properties of Si:H films were studied systematically. Addition of H2 to the Ar-diluted SiH4 plasma improved the network structure by eliminating defects, introducing structural reorientation and grain growth, although, reducing the deposition rate. Accordingly, highly conducting (σD10−3S cm−1) undoped μc-Si:H film was achieved utilizing energy released by de-excitation of metastable state of Ar (denoted as Ar*), in association with network modulation by atomic hydrogen in the plasma.  相似文献

It has a great technological importance in engineering science. The dielectric materials like ceramics and glass ceramics have great interest in electronic ceramic industry due to above concern. The ceramic dielectrics are used as a capacitive element in electronic circuits. The perovskite glass ceramics have very high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss. The high dielectric constant in glass ceramics is attributed to space charge polarization. In order to produce glass ceramics of high dielectric constant, barium titanate glass ceramics is the first discovered ferroelectric perovskite. In this review article, we are summarizing the dielectric behavior of perovskite glass ceramics such as BaTiO3, SrTiO3, PbTiO3, (Ba,Sr)TiO3 and (Pb,Sr)TiO3.  相似文献

Bi1-xNdxFeO3 (BNFOx, x = 0-0.15) nano-crystallites were successfully synthesised by solution combustion technique. Neodymium substitution has changed the rhombohedral symmetry of BiFeO3 to the triclinic and reduced the impurity phase. The average particle size found to vary from 74 to 26 nm when Nd concentration was increased from x = 0 to 0.15. The change in the symmetry is also confirmed by Raman spectra of nanocrystallite samples. The value of remnant magnetization has improved due to the continuing collapse of the space-modulated spin structure of BNFOx. Long-range ferromagnetic ordering in BNFOx at room temperature was also confirmed from Mössbauer spectra.  相似文献

A pattern synthesis method based on Firefly Algorithm (FA) and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) optimization has been presented to generate satellite footprint patterns from a rectangular planar array of isotropic antennas by modifying the amplitude, phase, and the state of the array elements. Three cases comprising three different footprints of rectangular, square, and circular boundary are generated from the same array by using two different swarm‐based optimization algorithms FA and ABC. Both the algorithms, following the proposed procedures are able to generate the three different footprint patterns while maintaining a satisfactory lower peak side lobe level and ripple. A comparative analysis has been carried out between FA, ABC, and Genetic Algorithm (GA) for the presented problem in terms of fitness value for the three different cases. The superiority of FA and ABC over GA has been established in terms of finding better solutions for all the three cases of the proposed problem. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
