Administered the MMPI and the 16 PF to 21 homosexual and 72 heterosexual prison inmates. J. Panton's Hsx scale and the 16 PF I (tough- vs. tender-minded) scale did not differentiate between the sexual groups. The Mf scale, M. Manosevitz's abridged forms of the Mf scale, and the 16 PF C scale (affected by feelings vs. emotionally stable) did differentiate the groups. Misclassification rates were 35 and 39% for the Manosevitz scales, 39% for the Mf scale, and 40% for the 16 PF C scale. Age significantly correlated with the Hsx scale (p  相似文献

We study and compare synchronous parallelization strategies for tabu search. We identify the most promising parallelization approaches, and evaluate the impact on performance and solution quality of some important algorithmic design parameters: length of the synchronization steps, number of processors, handling of exchanged information, etc. Parallelization approaches are implemented and compared by using a tabu search algorithm for multicommodity location-allocation problems with balancing requirements.  相似文献

This article is a survey of heuristics for the Vehicle Routing Problem . It is divided into two parts: classical and modern heuristics. The first part contains well-known schemes such as, the savings method, the sweep algorithm and various two-phase approaches. The quality of the convergence process in genetic algorithms depends on the specific choice of strategies and combinations of operators. In this paper, we address this problem and introduce an adaptive evolutionary approach that uses a genetic algorithm in an adaptive process. An application of this approach to the dynamic vehicle routing problem with time windows is presented. We compare the adaptive version of a hybrid genetic algorithm with the non-adaptive one with respect to the robustness and the quality of the generated solutions. The results obtained show the ability of our operator combination adaptation approach to produce solutions that are superior to hand-tuning and other adaptive methods with respect to performance sensitivity and robustness.  相似文献

Contends that P. B. Sutker's (see record 1972-09270-001) finding that heroin addicts produced a more elevated MMPI profile than a comparable sample of nonaddicts may have been due to the fact that heroin addicts were "volunteers" for treatment, unlike the nonaddict sample. The present study provided a demonstration of the effect of the "volunteer" factor on addict and nonaddict MMPI profiles. More elevated MMPI profiles were found both for volunteer addict and nonaddict Ss (n = 17) when compared to MMPI profiles of nonvolunteer addicts and nonaddicts (n = 33). The science and an overview of the Soft X-ray Spectrometer onboard the STRO-H mission are presented. The SXS consists of X-ray focusing mirrors and a microcalorimeter array and is developed by international collaboration lead by JAXA and NASA with European participation. The detector is a 6×6 format microcalorimeter array operated at a cryogenic temperature of 50 mK and covers a 3′×3′ field of view of the X-ray telescope of 5.6 m focal length. We expect an energy resolution better than 7 eV (FWHM, requirement) with a goal of 4 eV. The effective area of the instrument will be 225 cm2 at 7 keV; by a factor of about two larger than that of the X-ray microcalorimeter on board Suzaku. One of the main scientific objectives of the SXS is to investigate turbulent and/or macroscopic motions of hot gas in clusters of galaxies.  相似文献

Optical Burst Switching (OBS) is a promising switching paradigm for the next generation Internet. A buffer-less OBS network can be implemented simply and cost-effectively without the need for either wavelength converters or optical buffers which are, currently, neither cost-effective nor technologically mature. However, this type of OBS networks suffers from relatively high loss probability caused by wavelength contentions at core nodes. This could prevent or, at least, delay the adoption of OBS networks as a solution for the next generation optical Internet. To enhance the performance of buffer-less OBS networks, we propose three approaches: (a) a reactive approach, called Reinforcement Learning-Based Deflection Routing Scheme (RLDRS) that aims to resolve wavelength contentions, after they occur, using deflection routing; (b) a proactive multi-path approach, called Reinforcement Learning-Based Alternative Routing (RLAR), that aims to reduce wavelength contentions; and (c) an approach, called Integrated Reinforcement Learning-based Routing and Contention Resolution (IRLRCR), that combines RLAR and RLDRS to conjointly deal with wavelength contentions proactively and reactively. Simulation results show that both RLAR and RLDRS reduce, effectively, loss probability in buffer-less OBS networks and outperform the existing multi-path and deflection routing approaches, respectively. Moreover, simulation results show that a substantial performance improvement, in terms of loss probability, is obtained using IRLRCR.  相似文献

Voluntary cardiorespiratory synchronization (VCRS), where inspiration and expiration follows a fixed number of heart beats, was used to investigate heart rate change (HRC) in 16 subjects (grouped as 20-30 and 46-57 years of age) as a function of age, body position, and respiratory tidal volumes of 500 and 1000 ml. In phase I, the subjects, following a tone, inspired for two heart beats and expired for three beats. In phase II, the older group's breathing pattern was 2/2, 2/3, 3/3, 4/4, 5/5, and 6/6 inspiratory and expiratory heart beats, respectively, per respiratory cycle. Comparing the younger and older groups, we found a statistically significant (p < 0.05) decrease in HRC for beat 1, 2, and 4 of the respiratory cycle in the supine position, and also for beat 2 in the sitting position, but no significant change with tidal volume. The ratio of the younger to older group's beat 2 HRC was 2.54 sitting and 3.54 supine. Increasing the number of beats per respiratory cycle from four to 12 resulted in the HRC growing from 1.8 to 7.5 beats over the respiratory cycle, showing the importance of respiratory rate in measuring HRC. VCRS can easily observe the influence of each phase of the respiratory cycle on the HRC and show the unique phase dependent changes that occur.  相似文献

In contrast to mammals, all teleost fish examined thus far exhibit an enormous potential to regenerate not only neuronal processes (axonal regeneration), but even whole neurons (neuronal regeneration) after injuries in the central nervous system. By application of lesions to one subdivision of the cerebellum, the corpus cerebelli, the role of apoptosis in neuronal regeneration was examined in the gymnotiform fish, Apteronotus leptorhynchus. Apoptotic cells were identified by examination of cryosections with the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labelling (TUNEL) reaction, an in situ technique employed for detection of nuclear DNA fragmentation. Additional evidence for the apoptotic nature of dying cells was obtained through analysis of morphologies displayed at both the light microscopic and the ultrastructural level. The first TUNEL-positive cells at the site of the lesion appeared as rapidly as 5 min following mechanical damage of the tissue. Thirty minutes after stab wound lesion, their number reached maximum levels. Starting with 2 days of postlesioning survival time, a gradual decline in the number of TUNEL-positive cells was evident, until this process reached background levels 20 days after the lesion. We hypothesize that apoptosis is used in A. leptorhynchus as an efficient mechanism for the removal of cells damaged through injury in the central nervous system. Since apoptosis is not accompanied by the side-effects known from necrosis (which is predominant after injuries in the mammalian central nervous system), this "clean" type of cell death may, at least partially, explain the tremendous regenerative capability of teleosts.  相似文献

In Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs), traffic is mainly routed by WMN Backbone (WMNB) between the mesh clients and the Internet and goes through mesh gateways. Since almost all traffic has to pass through one of the MGs, the network may be unexpectedly congested at one or more of them, even if every mesh router provides enough throughput capacity. In this paper, we address the problem of congestion of gateways while designing WMNs. We propose a simultaneous optimization of three competing objectives, namely network deployment cost, interference between network channels and congestion of gateways while guaranteeing full coverage for mesh clients. We tailor a nature inspired meta-heuristic algorithm to solve the model whereby, several trade-off solutions are provided to the network planner to choose from. A comparative experimental study with different key parameter settings is conducted to evaluate the performance of the model.  相似文献
