The fractal structure of a carbon deposit formed during graphite spraying in an electric arc

Experimental data obtained by atomic force microscopy showing that a carbon deposit formed during graphite spraying in an electric arc possesses a fractal structure. The deposit is composed of clusters with dimensions on the order of 1–5 nm. The surface and profile of the deposit exhibit a self-affine fractal structure. The fractal dimensions of the deposit surface and profile, as well as the Hurst index characterizing the self-affine fractal, are determined.     

Thermodesorption of samarium from oxidized tungsten surface

Thermodesorption of samarium (Sm) atoms and samarium oxide (SmO) molecules from samarium films deposited in vacuum onto tungsten substrates covered with thin (<1 nm thick) layers of tungsten oxides has been studied. It is established that samarium reduces tungsten from its oxides. The parameters of Sm and SmO desorption from an oxidized tungsten surface are determined.     

On Optimal Signal–Filter Pairs

We extend the notion of an optimal signal–filter pair to the case where n-convolution is used instead of cyclic convolution. We construct n-optimal n-adic signals for all n = 2, 3, . . ..     

Interaction between monitorability indicators and operational characteristics of communications equipment

This article considers the influence of changes in monitorability indicators on the operational characteristics of communications equipment. For indicators of monitorability we take the depth of defect search, failure localizability, overhead, and others. Among the operational characteristics, those considered include time to repair, probability of undetected failure, probability of failure-free operation, etc. The results obtained make it possible to estimate, during the design phase, the influence of changes in monitorability factors on the operational characteristics of equipment and to make selections that meet given requirements. High-cycle fatigue characterization of titanium 5Al-2.5Sn alloy

High-cycle fatigue behaviour of titanium 5Al-2.5Sn alloy at room temperature has been studied. S-N curve characterization is performed at different stress ratios ranging from 0 to 0.9 on a subsized fatigue specimen. Both two-stress and three-stress level tests are conducted at different stress ratios to study the cumulative fatigue damage. Life prediction techniques of linear damage rule, double linear damage rule and damage curve approaches are applied, and results are compared with the experimental data. The agreement between prediction and experiment is found to be excellent.     

Generalized percolation theory for the analysis of the structure and properties of porous and composite materials

用αβ谱仪测量人工αβ放射性气溶胶体积活度的试验研究

本文介绍了用αβ谱仪系统同时测量αβ谱、实现Ｒｎ／Ｔｈ子体补偿、确定超铀α核素气溶胶体积活度及人工放射性气溶胶总β体积活度的技术途径。利用ＲａＡ、ＲａＣ′ａ峰的二段时间计数可确定空气中ＲａＡ、ＲａＢ、ＲａＣ的气溶胶体积活度，相应的，也能给出ＲａＢ、ＲａＣ对总β计数的贡献。根据一般环境条件下的平衡比，用ＴｈＣ′的。计数修正Ｔｈ子体对αβ测量的影响。￣［２３９］ｐｕ或／和￣［２４１］Ａｍ人工核素的α计数，可通过两段时间分别扣除ＲａＡ、ＲａＣ′拖尾的方法确定；β计数分别扣除Ｒｎ／Ｔｈ子体β贡献即可确定。在本文规定的测量条件下，对室内天然Ｒｎ子体水平在１５Ｂｑ／ｍ￣３以下，超铀α核素气溶胶体积活度的测量下限可达到０．１Ｂｑ／ｍ￣３；即使在７５Ｂｑ／ｍ￣３环境下，人工核素总β的测量下限也可达ｌＢｑ／ｍ￣３以下。
