This article presents our preliminary experimental data on the release kinetics and encapsulation efficiency of urea formaldehyde (UF) crosslinked matrices of starch (St), guar gum (GG), and starch + guar gum (St + GG) for the controlled release of solid (chlorpyrifos) and liquid (neem seed oil) pesticides. The data reveal variable release rates in relation to the polymer type and especially the pesticide type. The ability to manufacture a product using different metal combinations greatly increases flexibility in design and production. Joining of dissimilar metal combinations like Copper-to-Stainless Steel (Cu-to-SS) is, however, a challenging task owing to the large differences in physical and chemical properties. The application of electromagnetic (EM) impact technique is demonstrated for welding copper (Cu) to stainless steel (SS) sheets. The welding Cu-to-SS is accomplished by using Al drivers to accelerate Cu and SS work sheets. The tensile shear strength test and the metallographic studies are carried out for Cu-to-SS EM welds.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Volatile blends of five developing and five ripening stages of mango (Mangifera indica L. cv. Alphonso) were investigated along with those of flowers and leaves. Raw and ripe fruits of cv. Sabja were also used for comparison. RESULTS: A total of 55 volatiles belonging to various chemical classes such as aldehydes, alcohols, mono‐ and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, lactones and furanones were identified. In all Alphonso tissues monoterpenes quantitatively dominated, with 57–99% contribution; in particular, (Z)‐ocimene was found in the highest amount. Ripeness was characterized by the de novo appearance of lactones and furanones in the blend of monoterpenes. Sabja was distinguished by the abundance of monoterpene hydrocarbons in the raw fruit, and that of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons and their derivatives in the ripe stage. CONCLUSION: Various stages of the Alphonso fruit during transition from flower to ripe fruit are characterized by unique volatile signatures that are distinguished from each other by the qualitative and quantitative appearance of different volatile compounds. Thus volatiles can be highly informative markers while studying the development and ripening of mango. Copyright © 2009 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

In this study, environmentally friendly polyester based polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) were synthesized using various combinations of isophthalic acid, adipid acid and maleic anhydride (IPA-AA-MA). A triangular empirical model was employed to optimize total number of experiments for optimal performance of polyurethane dispersions. In addition to PUDs, polyurethane/acrylate hybrid dispersions (PU/AC) were synthesized using graft copolymerization method to enhance the performance/properties of PUDs and for potential cost benefit.  相似文献

A 2D non‐isothermal reaction engineering model for a tubular reactor was developed for a complex reaction network of salicylic acid nitration. The influence of different operating and design parameters was studied to minimize the amount of secondary nitration products and limit the maximum temperature inside the reactor. Critical temperature effects were observed for larger reaction tubes, whereas close to isothermal conditions were perceived in smaller tubes. With single‐point dosing of both reactants, complete conversion can be achieved but formation of secondary nitration products cannot be avoided. For a given number of dosing points, a suitable combination of the operating parameters allowed to achieve complete conversion and better yield of the desired product.  相似文献

Ferrierite zeolite catalysts prepared using different procedures have been tested for their activity for vapor phase Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime to -caprolactam. We report here the results of a study seeking the influence of temperature, nitrogen feed rate, oxime concentration and solvents on the catalyst performance. At low concentration of oxime (2.5 wt%), using acetonitrile as solvent the maximum in the conversion of oxime and selectivity to -caprolactam has been obtained. The presence of weak, medium and strong acid sites as indicated by temperature-programmed desorption of NH3 corroborates well with the catalytic activities of various ferrierites shown here. Solvent polarity is found to significantly affect the conversion of cyclohexanone oxime.  相似文献

This article gives a brief survey of the evolution of evolving e-commerce technologies, explaining what each offered and could not offer to retailers. It then describes how Amazon's investment in its e-commerce services (ECS) gives Amazon partners access to common online retailing functionalities. In this paper we report recent advances in pulsed-laser-deposited AIN thin films for high-temperature capping of SiC, passivation of SiC-based devices, and fabrication of a piezoelectric MEMS/NEMS resonator on Pt-metallized SiO2/Si. The AlN films grown using the reactive laser ablation technique were found to be highly stoichiometric, dense with an optical band gap of 6.2 eV, and with a surface smoothness of less than 1 nm. A low-temperature buffer-layer approach was used to reduce the lattice and thermal mismatch strains. The dependence of the quality of AlN thin films and its characteristics as a function of processing parameters are discussed. Due to high crystallinity, near-perfect stoichiometry, and high packing density, pulsed-laser-deposited AlN thin films show a tendency to withstand high temperatures up to 1600°C, and which enables it to be used as an anneal capping layer for SiC wafers for removing ion-implantation damage and dopant activation. The laser-deposited AlN thin films show conformal coverage on SiC-based devices and exhibit an electrical break-down strength of 1.66 MV/cm up to 350°C when used as an insulator in Ni/AlN/SiC metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) devices. Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) AlN films grown on Pt/SiO2/Si (100) substrates for radio-frequency microelectrical and mechanical systems and nanoelectrical and mechanical systems (MEMS and NEMS) demonstrated resonators having high Q values ranging from 8,000 to 17,000 in the frequency range of 2.5–0.45 MHz. AlN thin films were characterized by x-ray diffraction, Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (in normal and oxygen resonance mode), atomic force microscopy, ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Applications exploiting characteristics of high bandgap, high bond strength, excellent piezoelectric characteristics, extremely high chemical inertness, high electrical resistivity, high breakdown strength, and high thermal stability of the pulsed-laser-deposited thin films have been discussed in the context of emerging developments of SiC power devices, for high-temperature electronics, and for radio frequency (RF) MEMS.  相似文献

Sensor networks consist of autonomous wireless sensor nodes that are networked together in an ad hoc fashion. The tiny nodes are equipped with substantial processing capabilities, enabling them to combine and compress their sensor data. The aim is to limit the amount of network traffic, and as such conserve the nodes' limited battery energy. However, due to the small packet payload, the MAC header is a significant, and energy-costly, overhead. To remedy this, we propose a novel scheme for a MAC address assignment. The two key features which make our approach unique are the exploitation of spatial address reuse and an encoded representation of the addresses in data packets. To assign the addresses, we develop a purely distributed algorithm that relies solely on local message exchanges. Other salient features of our approach are the ability to handle unidirectional links and the excellent scalability of both the assignment algorithm and address representation.
