A wide operating bandwidth for a single-layer coaxially fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna can be obtained by cutting a U-shaped slot on the patch. This antenna structure has recently been found experimentally to provide impedance bandwidths of 10%-40%, even with nonair substrates. However, design rules for this antenna have not yet been presented. This paper develops principle design procedures through examination of the structure's multiple resonant frequencies as well as the radiation and impedance properties of different antenna geometries. The approximate design rules are derived by analysis of former experiments, method of moments (MoM) simulations, and measurement results. Simulations and measurements of several antennas designed using these new rules are presented and directions for further study are discussed.  相似文献

The N-terminal cluster binding motif Cys8XXXXXXXCys16....Cys49 of Bacillus schlegelii 7Fe ferredoxin, which provides the ligands to the [Fe3S4]+ cluster, was modified by the mutation Asp13 --> Cys. The mutant D13C is expressed in Escherichia coli as an 8Fe ferredoxin, with NMR properties similar to those of clostridial-type ferredoxins. The full assignment of the hyperfine shifted resonances indicates that Cys13 serves as ligand to the new fourth iron atom in the N-terminal cluster despite the atypical binding sequence CysXXXXCysXXCys....Cys. The C alpha-C beta-S-Fe dihedral angles of all cysteine ligands to the two [Fe4S4]2+ clusters of the D13C variant are similar to those observed in other 8Fe and 4Fe ferredoxins.  相似文献

The insertion loss of an experimental high-frequency fiberoptic link is reduced to 7 dB with an 800-MHz (9%) 3-dB bandwidth at 9 GHz by improving the link optical performance and by using reactive passive RF impedance matching. The link signal-to-noise ratio is measured and found to be about 125 dBc/Hz over the 800-MHz bandwidth. This is a significant improvement from the typical X-band RF link insertion loss of 40 dB and could help to open the way to many microwave applications of fiberoptic links in radar and avionics systems  相似文献

A Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line stably expressing a recombinant human D4 dopamine receptor made from a synthetic gene has been used to determine potential D4-mediated signaling events. We designed and synthesized a modified gene coding for a human D4 receptor with reduced G + C content but unaltered encoded amino acids. Stable expression of this gene was obtained in two cell lines, inducible expression in CHO lacI cells and constitutive expression in HEK293 cells. In CHO lacI cells induced to express D4 receptors but not in uninduced cells, dopamine and quinpirole inhibit forskolin-stimulated cAMP accumulation and potentiate ATP-stimulated [3H]arachidonic acid release through a mechanism that requires protein kinase C but is unaffected by membrane-soluble cAMP analogs. In addition, D4 receptor activation causes an increase in the rate of extracellular acidification measured by microphysiometry. This response is unaffected by protein kinase C down-regulation but is inhibited by removal of extracellular sodium and inhibitors of NaH-1 exchange, suggesting the involvement of a Na+/H+ exchanger. All responses are blocked by clozapine and are sensitive to pertussis toxin. D4 receptors, like other G(i)/G(o)-linked receptors, mediate multiple signaling events, and the pathways activated are similar to those used by D2 and D3 receptors expressed in similar cells.  相似文献

Evaluating Energy Consumption and Efficiency of a Twin-Screw Extruder   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
ABSTRACT: Using the results from twin-screw extrusion of corn meal, both energy consumption and extruder efficiency were found to be significantly correlated with screw speed and specific feeding load (SFL). An increase in the SFL decreased the total specific mechanical energy, but increased the extruder efficiency. SFL influenced the extruder efficiency more than the screw speed. Increasing the screw speed from 300 to 450 rpm at a constant SFL level increased the extruder efficiency by 6 to 11%, whereas an increase of SFL from 0.0026 to 0.0038 kg rev 1 raised the extruder efficiency by 30%. Of the mechanical energy consumed per unit mass of extrudate, over 98% were used for shearing or viscous dissipation and less than 1.5% were for pumping during twin-screw extrusion of corn meal.  相似文献

We report secondary organic aerosol (SOA) yields from the ozonolysis of alpha-pinene under both dark and UV-illuminated conditions. Exposure to UV light reduces SOA yield by 20-40%, with a maximum reduction in yield coinciding with a minimum in the amount of terpene consumed (15-30 ppb). The data are consistent with a constant absolute reduction in the yield of approximately 0.03. Gas chromatography mass spectrometry analysis of filter samples indicates that the major products found in alpha-pinene SOA include organic acids (e.g., pinic acid), keto acids (e.g., pinonic acid), and hydroxy keto acids (e.g., 10-hydroxypinonic acid). Analysis of filter-based results suggests that yield reduction is a result of the formation of a more volatile product distribution when experiments are conducted in the presence of UV light. These results implythat previous "dark bag" experiments may overestimate SOA generation from monoterpenes and also that SOA generation in the atmosphere may depend significantly on actinic flux.  相似文献

The operating cost of a multicomponent distillation system comprises two major aspects: the overall heat duty requirement and the temperature levels at which the heat duties are generated and rejected. The second aspect, often measured by the thermodynamic efficiency of the distillation system, can be quantified by its total exergy loss. In this article, we introduce a global optimization framework for determining the minimum total exergy loss required to distill any ideal or near-ideal multicomponent mixture using a sequence of columns. Desired configurations identified by this new framework tend to use milder-temperature reboilers and condensers and are thus attractive for applications such as heat pump assisted distillation. Through a case study of shale gas separations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of this framework and present various useful physical insights for designing energy efficient distillation systems.  相似文献

Multimodal nonlinear optical (NLO) imaging is poised to become a powerful tool in bioimaging given its ability to capitalize on the unique advantages possessed by different NLO imaging modalities. The integration of different imaging modalities such as two-photon-excited fluorescence, sum frequency generation, and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering on the same platform can facilitate simultaneous imaging of different biological structures. Parameters to be considered in constructing a multimodal NLO microscope are discussed with emphasis on achieving a compromise in these parameters for efficient signal generation with each imaging modality. As an example of biomedical applications, multimodal NLO imaging is utilized to investigate the central nervous system in healthy and diseased states.  相似文献

European RoHS directives, enacted in response to concerns about the toxicity of lead, are driving the substitution of Pb-free solders for Pb-containing solders at the component to board level. While European RoHS regulations currently exempt high Pb solders used as component solders and die attaches for automotive and other high temperature applications, there is a strong drive to find Pb-free alternatives for these high temperature electronic applications, as well. This paper presents constitutive and reliability information on one of the widely used high lead solder materials as a baseline, and discusses potential alternative technologies for high temperature solders with the goal of identifying a cost-effective lead-free solder that can be used at temperatures greater than 200 °C.  相似文献
