Describes a study with 24 patients (aged 58–83 yrs) with a diagnosis of probable Alzheimer's disease and 24 age-matched controls. Measures of memory impairment were incorporated into the design of a word list learning test so that all were obtained concurrently. The most discriminating measures were secondary (recent) memory during the first learning trial, total correct across learning trials, and total correct on delayed recall. Development of materials used in gas turbine engines. Guide lines and proposal for a priority scheme . The development of materials used in gas turbine engines has the following aims: (a) the development of functioning components from new materials, (b) quantitative assessment of the behaviour of the material for a fail-save design of the engine, (c) quantitative assessment of the effect of defects in the material and (d) the securing of a constant level of quality. In order to evaluate the large number of conceivable, individual subjects for the purpose of a priority scheme, first of all 3 subject groups are differentiated and described in more detail, the differentiating feature adopted being the development stage of the candidate engines for application. (A fourth group of general subjects is only touched on). The subject groups are distinguished by the stress put, in pursuing general development targets, on such factors as higher gas temperature, lower weight, lower price, greater reliability, longer working-life and elimination of weak spots. Within each group, a priority is given according to the (simplified) formula P = T · E · D, whereby the combined factor T represents the technical progress, E the probability of success and D the individual operational urgency. A medium-term planning of materials development programmes, carried out and alloting priorities in this way, can serve as a basis not only for in-house budget planning, but also for national and international cooperation. 相似文献
