The sidewalls of trenches on 100-mm wafers were doped by implantation with an implanter whose beam scan is accurately parallel over the whole wafer surface. The doping was characterized with a staining technique and transmission electron microscopy. All the trenches exhibited symmetrical doping, with the main differences between trenches from the center and edge of a wafer being due to nonuniformity of the trench etching rather than the implant step. Although the measurements were made on 100-mm wafers, symmetrical doping should be achievable for all trenches on wafers up to 200 nm in diameter 相似文献

The origin of the aging of SmCo5 magnets is shown to be the reaction with adsorbed air. This reaction can be avoided by excluding all oxygen during the preparation. It is shown that by deformation pressing, nonaging magnets can be made because they are dense enough to avoid oxygen penetration. The adsorbed oxygen reacts with Sm during sintering which results in the formation of undesirable Sm2 O3 . The formation of these oxides can also be avoided by preparing the samples in oxygen-free atmospheres. The aim of the study was to explore the relationship between protein nutritional status and the development of rickets in children living in northern Nigeria. The diagnosis of rickets in 16 children between the ages of 10 months and 7 years was confirmed using established, and recently developed clinical and biochemical parameters. Twenty-seven children devoid of skeletal stigmata were age- and sex-matched to the rachitic patients. A battery of clinical laboratory and anthropometric measurements designed to assess calcium homeostasis, skeletal growth, the extent of bone remodeling or resorption, and protein nutritional status were performed on all subjects. Our central finding was that although the rachitic children were moderately malnourished, their protein nutritional status was significantly better as measured by the serum prealbumin concentration (15.4 v. 12.5 mg/dl, P = 0.0012) when compared with the severely malnourished children who were devoid of any indication of rickets. This may be due, in part, to the fact that actively growing children are more likely to develop rickets than are children whose linear growth is impeded. Unexpectedly, we found that the mean concentrations of serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D in both the rachitic and control group were higher than any values for the active vitamin D metabolite previously reported in the literature. 相似文献

The 1H NMR spectroscopy was used to study lignin peroxidase (LiP) and manganese peroxidase (MnP) containing deuterated histidines. LiP and MnP were obtained from a histidine auxotroph of the fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium grown in the presence of deuterated histidines. The derivatives with deuterated histidines have allowed a firm assignment of the protons of the distal and proximal histidines. We have also found that the LiP from this strain exhibits different orientations of the 2-vinyl group compared to the LiP from the strain previously studied. Mobility of the group has also been detected, thus explaining the apparent inconsistency between X-ray solid-state and NMR solution data. The 15N shift values of 15N-enriched CN- in the cyanide derivatives of LiP and MnP have also been measured. The shift patterns, both for 15N and for the proximal histidine protons of several peroxidases, are consistent with predominant contact shift contributions which reflect the bond strength of the metal-axial ligand. Finally, our results confirm a correlation between shift values of 15N and those of proximal histidine protons and the Fe3+/Fe2+ redox potentials. 相似文献

The three isoforms of Acanthamoeba myosin I (non-filamentous myosin with only a single heavy chain) express actin-activated Mg(2+)-ATPase activity only when phosphorylated at a single site by myosin I heavy chain kinase. The kinase is activated by autophosphorylation that is greatly stimulated by acidic phospholipids. Substantial fractions of the three myosins I and the kinase are associated in situ with membranes, and all four enzymes bind to purified membranes in vitro. We now report that when kinase and myosin I are incubated together with phosphatidylserine vesicles not only does the kinase autophosphorylate more rapidly than soluble kinase in the absence of phosphatidylserine but that, probably as a result, the kinase phosphorylates myosin I more rapidly than soluble kinase phosphorylates soluble myosin I. Similarly, plasma membrane-bound kinase phosphorylates membrane-bound myosin I and activates its actin-activated Mg(2+)-ATPase activity more rapidly than soluble kinase phosphorylates and activates soluble myosin I in the absence of membranes. However, the enhanced activity of membrane-bound kinase (which is comparable to the activity of kinase in the presence of phosphatidylserine) is not due to autophosphorylation of the membrane-bound kinase, which is very much slower than for kinase activated by phosphatidylserine vesicles. 相似文献

Average microvascular filtration pressure and vascular permeability measures were obtained in 100-microns glass bead-embolized dog lung lobes randomly assigned to groups in which isolated perfusion was designed to produce weight gain (edema groups) or no weight gain (isogravimetric groups). The solvent drag reflection coefficient (sigma), an index of vascular permeability, was obtained during edema formation, whereas isogravimetric capillary pressure was obtained during isogravimetry. Vascular permeability increased in response to embolism, because sigma was 0.53 +/- 0.03 vs. 0.80 +/- 0.05 (P < 0.005) in embolized and control lobes, respectively. Vascular occlusion methods indicated the greatest resistance increase in response to embolism in the vascular segment represented by Pao--Pdo (arterial occlusion pressure--double occlusion pressure). Because papaverine vasodilation reduced total vascular resistance (RT; P < 0.05) by decreasing Pao (P < 0.01) without altering Pdo, the RT increase in response to embolism was likely due to both vasoconstriction and obstruction. Because Pdo approximated capillary pressure at isogravimetry, Pdo appears to estimate average filtration pressure in both embolized (n = 6) and control lungs (n = 6). Arterial pressure was 56.2 +/- 13.6 vs. 17.6 +/- 1.5 cmH2O (P < 0.01) in embolized (n = 5) and control lobes (n = 6), respectively, whereas Pdo values of 16.1 +/- 1.5 vs. 12.4 +/- 0.8 (P < 0.05) suggested relatively little increase in filtration pressure in response to embolism. If the beads obstructed 100-microns vessels, the vascular segment represented by Pao--Pdo, the major site of vasoconstriction as well as mechanical obstruction, likely includes 100-microns arteries. 相似文献

Polymeric blends of silk fibroin (SF) and S-carboxymethyl kerateine (SCMK) were prepared by the solvent casting method to study the effect of surface properties on the antithrombogenicity. The films of SF/SCMK showed better antithrombogenic properties than SF or SCMK alone. Among them, the film containing 50 wt% SCMK showed the best antithrombogenicity. When the SF/SCMK films were treated with methanol, the antithrombogenicity of the films was scarcely affected except the SF-rich ones. The enhanced antithrombogenic properties were explained in terms of polarity of the surface. The blend films showed an enhancement of polar contribution to surface free energy (gamma(P)S and polar stabilization energy (I(SW)). SF-rich films showed high gamma(P)S and I(SW) values when treated with methanol. This change of surface properties was considered to be due to the fact that the conformational transition from random coil structure to beta-structure of proteins may have affected the surface properties, especially the polar properties. 相似文献
