Dendronized poly(diethylaminoethyl methacrylamide) (PEAM) was studied in blends containing isomeric cyclic dialcohols. Monomers and polymers were characterized by spectroscopic measurements. The phase behaviors of blends of PEAM with 1,2‐, 1,3‐ and 1,4‐cyclohexanediols (1,2‐CHD, 1,3‐CHD and 1,4‐CHD, respectively) were established. Transparent films of the blends exhibited a single glass‐transition temperature (Tg). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed the temperature at which the polymer releases the small molecules. UV‐vis spectra of 1,3‐CHD and 1,4‐CHD derivatives showed an isosbestic point that indicated the association of the alcohols. FT‐IR measurements showed shifts in several absorption bands. The results were analyzed in terms of the side‐chain structure and the interactions involved. AFM measurements revealed differences between the polymer and the blends. Compatibilization of blends of PEAM/CHDs occurred via the formation of hydrogen bonds, although hydrophobic interactions could not be disregarded. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Although there is extensive information describing the positive biological effects of conjugated linoleic acid and its main isomer rumenic acid (RA; C18:2 cis 9, trans 11), and alpha‐linolenic acid (ALA) and vaccenic acid (TVA), data about their bioavailability are not available. In this work, we investigated the oral absorption and disposition of these fatty acids in Wistar rats. A naturally enriched goat dairy fat (EDF) was obtained by supplementing ruminant diets with oils or oilseeds rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). The EDF was administered orally (single dose of 3000 mg EDF/kg body weight equivalent to 153 mg TVA/kg body weight, 46 mg RA/kg body weight and 31 mg ALA/kg body weight), and serial blood and liver samples were collected and TVA, RA and ALA concentrations determined by GC/MS. The fatty acids TVA, RA and ALA were rapidly absorbed (t1/2a, 0.36, 0.66 and 0.76 h, respectively, for plasma) and slowly eliminated (t1/2β, 17.04, 18.40 and 16.52 h, respectively, for plasma). The maximum concentration (Cmax) was detected in liver > plasma > erythrocyte. Our study shows that when orally administered EDF, its components TVA, RA and ALA were rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the body by the blood circulation to exert systemic effects.  相似文献

This paper presents our research initiatives around new user experiences in the area of pervasive mixed reality crossmedia gaming. In a prototypical game, The Epidemic Menace, we combined static and interactive story telling elements to create a mixed reality experience. As part of this research initiative we also investigated how elements of the real world and virtual worlds could produce a new environment where physical and digital objects can co-exist and interact with each other, we wanted to evaluate how linear stories could be integrated into a game flow and how they could be used to extend game experiences. A new form of interactive entertainment that is not limited to hardware based games or linear storylines but includes a truly interactive TV experience was one of our goals.  相似文献

The study examined the impact of chemical protective (CP) clothing on the performance of lifesaving tasks in thermoneutral and cold conditions. Eleven males performed pre-exercise followed by lifesaving tasks wearing either field combat uniform at 21 degrees C (U) or CP clothing at 21 degrees C (CPN) and -5 degrees C (CPC). The tasks were ventilating a doll (VA) and connecting an intravenous line (IV). Mean skin temperature was significantly higher for CPN compared to U and CPC during pre-exercise, VA and IV. Changes in blood pressure were significantly greater with CP clothing than without during VA and IV. The number of breaths per min (in VA) and time needed for IV increased by 19% (p < 0.05) and 18%, respectively, for CPN compared to U. Due to the cold, the additional increment was 5% and 17%, respectively, for CPC. Wearing of CP clothing in thermoneutral or in cold conditions may not prevent but, especially in the cold, significantly impede the performance of basic medical tasks. The findings of this study showed that performing medical tasks while wearing nuclear, biological and chemical protective clothing is impaired due to significant changes in physiological strain. This suggests that realistic training in local conditions as well as in cold conditions is needed to realise the restrictions due to protective clothing.  相似文献

The microenvironment of water droplets of sodium bis (2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) and sodium cholate mixed reverse microemulsions was studied. Structural changes of water pockets in mixed reverse micelles were investigated by IR spectroscopy. The O-H stretching vibrational absorption spectra in the region of 3000–3800 cm−1 were fit to three subpeaks with the Monte Carlo method. It was revealed that additives of sodium cholate suppress free water fraction in the water droplets of reverse micelles from 31% to 20% and support rising of bound fraction from 53% to 65%. The binding of optical probe ortho-nitroaniline to the mixed reverse micelles was determined by UV–visible spectroscopy. It was found that introducing of additives of sodium cholate below its critical micelle concentration (CMC) causes increasing of values of binding constant Kb twice compared with reverse micelles modified with pure water. However, values of the binding constant were reduced 4-fold at concentrations of sodium cholate higher than its CMC. Electrical conductivity of the reverse mixed micellar solutions (AOT + sodium cholate) was measured. Water-induced percolation in conductance of mixed reverse microemulsions occurs at a lower value of water/surfactant molar ratio (W) under the influence of sodium cholate, viz. electrical percolation threshold decreases from W = 32 to W = 15. The size of water droplets was estimated with the dynamic light scattering method. It was found that additives of sodium cholate below and higher than the CMC results in increasing and decreasing of hydrodynamic diameters of the water droplets, respectively, but sizes of water droplets decrease at concentrations of sodium cholate higher than its CMC.  相似文献
