A study of the noise which arises in the process of twisting man-made fibres

Conclusions The reasons for the high noise level which arises during the processes of twisting and taking up man-made yarns on a package have been analyzed.It has been found that the main source of noise in the package-spindle-beam system is the spindle beam, and not the spindle and package.Vibrational insulation of the spindle and package makes it possible to reduce the noise level by 19–20 dB.The use of polyurethane gaskets is recommended for reducing noise under operating manufacturing conditions in the processes of twisting man-made yarns and taking them up on the package.Translated from Khimicheskie Volokna, No. 6, pp. 26–27, November–December, 1984.     

Service of refractories in continuous casting of stainless steel

Conclusions Work was done on studying the service of refractories in continuous casting of stainless steel.It was established that refractories produced by domestic industry are suitable for this process and make it possible to obtain continuously cast billets in accordance with the requirements of TU 14-105-469-83. Gas protection of the stream of metal causes additional refining of the metal of nonmetallic inclusions and makes it possible to increase the quality of the cast billet.Stream treatment of the metal with inert gas makes it possible to significantly reduce encrustation of the nozzle channel with products of interaction of the molten metal with the refractory material of the ladle nozzle.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 6, pp. 52–55, June, 1985.     

Inparcom-16: An intelligent workstation

The conception of MIMD computers is considered from the viewpoint of automatic analysis of characteristics of engineering and scientific problems with approximate initial data, development of parallel computational algorithms and programs, solution of problems, and estimation of the reliability of computer solutions. The conception was experimentally tested on the Inparcom-16 workstation. This workstation consists of a host system (two host computers) and 16 processing nodes that use Xeon (3.2 GHz, 64 bit), a communication environment that consists of Gigabit Ethernet, Infiniband, and a hypercube. Programming languages are C, C++, and Fortran. The full-scale training simulator for educating the operative personnel of the PGU-450 Unit at OAO Mosenergo’s TETs-27 cogeneration station

We describe the full-scale training simulator for the PGU-450 combined cycle power plant, an installation combining an actual automatic process control system and a detailed physical model of process equipment that was developed in Russia for the first time and had been put in operation before the power unit was started.     

Algorithm to solve the partial eigenvalue problem for large profile matrices

Methods of computing weighted pseudoinverse matrices with singular weights

Three iterative processes are constructed and investigated for computing weighted pseudoinverse matrices with singular weights and ML-weighted pseudoinverse matrices. Two of them are based on the decompositions of the weighted pseudoinverse matrix with singular weights into matrix power series, and the third is a generalization of the Schulz method to nonsingular square matrices.
