Anisotropic cosmological models in terms of Raychaudhuri and Wheeler-DeWitt equations

Classical anisotropic cosmological models are described in terms of the Raychaudhuri equation for a perfect fluid. Quantum ones are considered using the Wheeler-DeWitt equation. The Universe birth probability has been calculated for a flat model with dust and de Sitter vacuum.     

The clinico-immunological parallels of hemosorption using different sorbents in the treatment of bronchial asthma patients

A comprehensive clinical and functional and allergo-immunological comparative evaluation was done of hemosorption involving the KAU, SKN hemosorbents, "Gemosfer" and a DNA-containing sorbent in 341 patient with bronchial asthma. SKN sorbent were found out to have a more pronounced positive effect on clinical signs and functional activity of immunocompetent cells. The above sorbents appeared to significantly enhance sensitivity of bronchial beta-adrenoreceptors; besides, they allow the dosages of systemic corticosteroids to be substantially brought down. The KAU and "Gemosfer" hemosorbents caused, to a certain degree, a blockade of the phagocyte system of blood, and, to a considerably lesser extent, affected the level of autoimmune processes. Thus, hemosorption should involve SKN sorbents or an SKN-based DNA-containing sorbent.     

Investigation into the structure of a swirling flow in a model of a vortex combustion chamber by laser doppler anemometry

The structure of an isothermal swirling flow is investigated experimentally in a model of a vortex combustion chamber with a horizontal rotation axis and a distributed input of air-fuel jets. The averaged and pulsation characteristics of the velocity field in various sections of the model are measured using laser Doppler anemometry. The features of internal aerodynamics of a new design of a steam-generator firebox are analyzed.     

Stationary Waves in a Supersonic Flow of a Two-Component Bose Gas

A stationary wave pattern occurring in a flow of a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate past an obstacle is studied. We consider the general case of unequal velocities of two superfluid components. The Landau criterium applied to the two-component system determines a certain region in the velocity space in which superfluidity may take place. Stationary waves arise out of this region, but under the additional condition that the relative velocity of the components does not exceed some critical value. Under increase of the relative velocity the spectrum of the excitations becomes complex valued and the stationary wave pattern is broken. In case of equal velocities two sets of stationary waves that correspond to the lower and the upper Bogolyubov mode can arise. If one component flows and the other is at rest only one set of waves may emerge. Two or even three interfere sets of waves may arise if the velocities approximately of equal value and the angle between the velocities is close to π/2. In two latter cases the stationary waves correspond to the lower mode and the densities of the components oscillate out-of-phase. The ratio of amplitudes of the components in the stationary waves is computed. This quantity depends on the relative velocity, is different for different sets of waves, and varies along the crests of the waves. For the cases where two or three waves interfere the density images are obtained.

Equivalence between the descriptions of cosmological models using a spinor field and a perfect fluid

A possibility of simulating a perfect fluid using spinor fields with different nonlinearities is investigated. Exact cosmological solutions to Einstein’s equations with spinor fields are compared to the corresponding ones with perfect fluids.     

Impairment of antiviral cellular resistance and possibilities of its correction during acute altitude hypoxia

The treatment of 53 patients with lichen planus of the buccal mucosa included common methods of detoxication and immunomodulators in order to normalize the immune status and was supplemented with applications of codfish oil enriched with polyunsaturated fatty acids. As a result of such treatment, the duration of exacerbation was shorter and a stable more than one-year remission was attained, associated with normalization of the immunological parameters. In patients with the erosive ulcerative form of lichen local applications of codfish oil and gargling with Potentilla tormentilla tincture were conducive to a sooner control of the process.     

Harmonic oscillations of a layer excited by concentrated sources

We determine the wave fields of displacements and stresses in a layer harmonically excited by sources concentrated along a line.
