Rapid thermal processing can offer many advantages, such as small overall thermal budget and low power and time consumption, in a strategy focused on cost-effective techniques for the preparation of solar cells in a continuous way. We show here that this very short duration (a few tens of seconds) of isothermal heating performed in a lamp furnace can be used for many thermal steps of silicon solar cell processing. Rapid thermal processing was applied to form the p-n junction from a phosphorus-doped spin-on silica film deposted on (100) silicon substrates at typical processing temperatures between 800 and 1100°C. the solar cells showed conversion efficiencies as good as those processed in a conventional way. 相似文献

Polypropylene (PP) mesh is well-known as a gold standard of all prosthetic materials of choice for the reinforcement of soft tissues in case of hernia, organ prolapse, and urinary incontinence. The adverse effects that follow surgical mesh implantation remain an unmet medical challenge. Herein, it is outlined a new approach to allow viability and adhesion of human menstrual blood-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MenSCs) on PP surgical meshes. A multilayered fibrin coating, based on fibrinogen and thrombin from a commercial fibrin sealant, was optimized to guarantee a homogeneous and stratified film on PP mesh. MenSCs were seeded on the optimized fibrin-coated meshes and their adhesion, viability, phenotype, gene expression, and immunomodulatory capacity were fully evaluated. This coating guaranteed MenSC viability, adhesion and did not trigger any change in their stemness and inflammatory profile. Additionally, MenSCs seeded on fibrin-coated meshes significantly decreased CD4+ and CD8+ T cell proliferation, compared to in vitro stimulated lymphocytes (p < 0.0001). Hence, the proposed fibrin coating for PP surgical meshes may allow the local administration of stromal cells and the reduction of the exacerbated inflammatory response following mesh implantation surgery. Reproducible and easy to adapt to other cell types, this method undoubtedly requires a multidisciplinary and translational approach to be improved for future clinical uses. 相似文献

Even in the face of global vaccination campaigns, there is still an urgent need for effective antivirals against SARS-CoV-2 and its rapidly spreading variants. Several natural compounds show potential as antiviral substances and have the advantages of broad availabilities and large therapeutic windows. Here, we report that lectin from Triticum vulgaris (Wheat Germ Agglutinin) displays antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 and its major Variants of Concern (VoC), Alpha and Beta. In Vero B4 cells, WGA potently inhibits SARS-CoV-2 infection with an IC50 of <10 ng/mL. WGA is effective upon preincubation with the virus or when added during infection. Pull-down assays demonstrate direct binding of WGA to SARS-CoV-2, further strengthening the hypothesis that inhibition of viral entry by neutralizing free virions might be the mode of action behind its antiviral effect. Furthermore, WGA exhibits antiviral activity against human coronavirus OC43, but not against other non-coronaviruses causing respiratory tract infections. Finally, WGA inhibits infection of the lung cell line Calu-3 with wild type and VoC viruses with comparable IC50 values. Altogether, our data indicate that topical administration of WGA might be effective for prophylaxis or treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infections. 相似文献

Bile acids (BA) have shown promising effects in animal models of obesity. However, the said effects are thought to rely on a thermogenic effect, which is questionably present in humans. A previous work has shown that the BA chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) can revert obesity and accelerate metabolism in animal and cell culture models. Thus, the aim of this study was to understand if this obesity reduction is indeed thermogenically-dependent. A CRISPR/Cas9 model of TGR5 (BA receptor) knockdown in 3T3-L1 adipocytes was developed to diminish thermogenic effects. Various parameters were assessed, including mitochondrial bioenergetics by Seahorse flux analysis, oxidative stress and membrane potential by fluorometry, intermediary metabolism by NMR, protein content assessment by Western Blot, gene expression by qPCR, and confocal microscopy evaluation of mitophagy. CDCA was still capable, for the most part, of reversing the harmful effects of cellular obesity, elevating mitophagy and leading to the reduction of harmed mitochondria within the cells, boosting mitochondrial activity, and thus energy consumption. In summary, CDCA has a non-thermogenic, obesity reducing capacity that hinges on a healthy mitochondrial population, explaining at least some of these effects and opening avenues of human treatment for metabolic diseases. 相似文献
