Cationic dialdehyde starch (DAS) dispersions have been prepared in water at 15% concentration by a new cooking procedure. A stable fluid form of cationic DAS, a wet- and dry-strength agent for paper, should facilitate commercial use. Cationic DAS dispersions of pH 3.0 stored in polyethylene containers at 25°C or below were unchanged after 6 months; other storage conditions were also evaluated. An unexpected benefit of the new preparative conditions was a 40% reduction of cationizing agent, betaine hydrazide hydrochloride, without loss of effectiveness. Further savings may be possible by blending cationic DAS with unmodified starch; wet- and dry-strength improvements were maintained in paper with a blend containing 33% unmodified starch and 67% cationic DAS. 相似文献

The fate of tritium from each carbon of D-glucose and the metabolism of L-glucose and 2-deoxy-D-glucose are known. Differences in metabolism of labeled glucoses can be used to quantify physical and chemical recycling of glucose. Only physical recycling is measured by [1-3H]-L-glucose, whereas [U-14C]-D-glucose measures total recycling. The difference between [1-3H]-L-glucose and [U-14C]-D-glucose, therefore, is chemical recycling. Recycling from extracellular binding sites and hepatic glucose 6-phosphate can be measured by difference between [1,2-3H]-2-deoxy-D-glucose and [1-3H]-L-glucose, and the difference in irreversible loss of the two will measure extrahepatic uptake of D-glucose. Recycling via Cori-alanine cycle plus CO2 is the difference in irreversible loss measured by using [6-3H]-glucose and [U-14C]-D-glucose. Recycling via the hexose monophosphate pathway can be determined by difference in irreversible loss between [1-3H]-D-glucose and [6-3H]-D-glucose. Recycling via CO2 and glycerol must be measured directly with [U-14C]glucose, bicarbonate, and glycerol. Recycling via hepatic glycogen can be estimated by subtracting all other measured chemical recycling from total chemical recycling. The use of adaptive-transmission protocols in wireless, store-and-forward, packet communication networks may result in large differences in the energy requirements of the alternative paths that are available to the routing protocol. Routing metrics can provide quantitative measures of the quality and energy efficiency of the paths from the source to the destination. Such measures are required if the routing protocol is to take advantage of the potential energy savings that are made possible by an adaptive-transmission protocol. An energy-efficient protocol suite for routing and adaptive transmission in frequency-hop wireless networks is described and evaluated, several routing metrics are compared, and tradeoffs among energy efficiency, delay, and packet success probability are investigated. 相似文献

Steady advances in VLSI technology and design tools have extensively expanded the application domain of digital signal processing over the past decade. While application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and programmable digital signal processors (PDSPs) remain the implementation mechanisms of choice for many DSP applications, increasingly new system implementations based on reconfigurable computing are being considered. These flexible platforms, which offer the functional efficiency of hardware and the programmability of software, are quickly maturing as the logic capacity of programmable devices follows Moore's Law and advanced automated design techniques become available. As initial reconfigurable technologies have emerged, new academic and commercial efforts have been initiated to support power optimization, cost reduction, and enhanced run-time performance.This paper presents a survey of academic research and commercial development in reconfigurable computing for DSP systems over the past fifteen years. This work is placed in the context of other available DSP implementation media including ASICs and PDSPs to fully document the range of design choices available to system engineers. It is shown that while contemporary reconfigurable computing can be applied to a variety of DSP applications including video, audio, speech, and control, much work remains to realize its full potential. While individual implementations of PDSP, ASIC, and reconfigurable resources each offer distinct advantages, it is likely that integrated combinations of these technologies will provide more complete solutions. 相似文献

Novel imide-aryl ether benzoxazole copolymers were prepared and their morphology and mechanical properties investigated. A key feature of these copolymers is the incorporation of a benzoxazole moiety by the use of 2,2′-bis[4-(3-aminophenoxy)phenyl]-6,6′-bibenzoxazole or 2,2′-bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)-phenyl]-6,6′-bibenzoxazole as co-diamines in polyimide syntheses. The preparation of these diamines involved the nucleophilic aromatic substitution of 2,2′-bis(4-fluorophenyl)-6,6′-bibenzoxazole with either 3- or 4-aminophenol in the presence of K2CO3. The diamines were co-reacted with various compositions of pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and 4,4′-oxydianiline (ODA) to synthesize the desired poly(amic acids). Films were cast and cured (350°C) to effect the imide formation, affording films with elongations between 40 and 110% and moduli in the 2000–2750 MPa range. The copolymers exhibited good dimensional (Tg in excess of 300°C) and thermal stability. Wide-angle X-ray diffraction measurements on the copolymers showed that the ordered morphology characteristic of PMDA/ODA polyimide was retained. In this work, we examine the optical properties of tin naphthalocyanine dichloride (SnNcCl2), and its performance as an electron donor material in organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs). As an active material, SnNcCl2 is attractive for its narrow energy gap which facilitates optical absorption past a wavelength of λ = 1100 nm. We demonstrate a power conversion efficiency of ηP = (1.2 ± 0.1)% under simulated AM1.5G solar illumination at 100 mW/cm2 using the electron donor–acceptor pairing of SnNcCl2 and C60 in a bilayer device architecture. While some phthalocyanines have been previously used to improve infrared absorption, this is often realized through the formation of molecular dimers. In SnNcCl2, the infrared absorption is intrinsic to the molecule, arising as a result of the extended conjugation. Consequently, it is expected that SnNcCl2 could be utilized in bulk heterojunction OPVs without sacrificing infrared absorption. 相似文献

A computationally simple super-resolution algorithm using a type of adaptive Wiener filter is proposed. The algorithm produces an improved resolution image from a sequence of low-resolution (LR) video frames with overlapping field of view. The algorithm uses subpixel registration to position each LR pixel value on a common spatial grid that is referenced to the average position of the input frames. The positions of the LR pixels are not quantized to a finite grid as with some previous techniques. The output high-resolution (HR) pixels are obtained using a weighted sum of LR pixels in a local moving window. Using a statistical model, the weights for each HR pixel are designed to minimize the mean squared error and they depend on the relative positions of the surrounding LR pixels. Thus, these weights adapt spatially and temporally to changing distributions of LR pixels due to varying motion. Both a global and spatially varying statistical model are considered here. Since the weights adapt with distribution of LR pixels, it is quite robust and will not become unstable when an unfavorable distribution of LR pixels is observed. For translational motion, the algorithm has a low computational complexity and may be readily suitable for real-time and/or near real-time processing applications. With other motion models, the computational complexity goes up significantly. However, regardless of the motion model, the algorithm lends itself to parallel implementation. The efficacy of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated here in a number of experimental results using simulated and real video sequences. A computational analysis is also presented. 相似文献

Experiments were conducted to determine the effectiveness of urea in deactivating tannin in high tannin milo. High tannin milo (Pioneer B 815, 3.4 +/- .3% tannin) was reconstituted with aqueous urea solutions to give combinations of 26, 30, and 34% moisture with 2, 3, and 4% urea (percentage of urea per dry weight of milo). All treatments were maintained at 25 degrees C and were effective in deactivating tannin with no differences among moisture or urea content. The average rate of tannin deactivation was 68 +/- 2% d-1. Temperature affected rate of tannin deactivation in milo reconstituted to 30% moisture and 3% urea when stored at 25 or 60 degrees C. Rate of tannin deactivation was 44 +/- 5 and 89 +/- 18% d-1 at 25 and 60 degrees C, respectively. Tannin in high tannin milo can be deactivated rapidly and completely by reconstitution with aqueous urea. These studies demonstrate that tannin is deactivated completely under conditions where urea is an effective preservative of high moisture milo. 相似文献
