Polyurethane dispersions containing phosphate and siloxane groups in the main chain were investigated as possible self‐assembling metal coatings. Improved adhesion of the polymer to the metal was observed because of the formation of an insoluble metal phosphate layer at the metal–coating interface. The neutralizing amine of the dispersions affected the formation of this metal phosphate, and the metal phosphate formation was dependent on the curing temperature and boiling point of the amine used for neutralization. A crosscut comparative study of adhesion proved that the phosphate‐containing coatings had better adhesion because of the formation of ionic bonds at the metal–coating interface. A solid‐state adhesion prediction method based on thermodynamic considerations was used. Poly(acrylonitrile‐co‐methyl acrylate)/clay nanocomposites were prepared by free radical polymerization in emulsion using 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐1‐propanesulphonic acid (AMPS) as a compatibilizer. The resultant nanocomposites were of partially exfoliated morphology despite the variations in clay content among the nanocomposites, as confirmed by transmission electron microscopy and small‐angle X‐ray scattering analysis. Rheological studies of these materials were carried out using parallel plate geometry. The storage modulus increased monotonically with increasing clay content throughout the frequency range studied. However, the neat copolymer, poly(acrylonitrile‐co‐methyl acrylate) and its nanocomposites, exhibited long relaxation behavior as the storage modulus (G′) was greater than the loss modulus (G″) throughout the angular frequency range studied. The complex viscosity of the nanocomposites increased with increasing clay content and they exhibited shear‐thinning behavior. Despite the enhanced rheological properties observed, the copolymer and its nanocomposites underwent structural changes during oscillatory measurements due to cyclization reactions. POLYM. 1‐Pentene was polymerized with the syndiospecific catalyst system i‐PrC(Cp)(9‐fluorenyl)ZrCl2/MAO. The molar mass of the resulting polymers depends strongly on the reaction temperature and decreases from M̄w = 126 000 at 0°C to M̄w = 46 000 at 100°C, but is more or less independent of the monomer and the MAO concentration. The influence of reaction temperature and concentrations of MAO and monomer on the type of end‐groups generated during the chain termination, as well as on the type of stereoerror, was investigated. The degree of tacticity was dependent on the polymerization temperature with [rrrr] > 0.99 at 0°C and [rrrr] = 0.75 at 100°C. 相似文献

Fully exfoliated PS/clay nanocomposites were prepared via FRP in dispersion. Na‐MMT clay was pre‐modified using MPTMS before being used in a dispersion polymerization process. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of the clay concentrations on the monomer conversion, the polymer molecular weight, and the morphology and thermal stability of the nanocomposites prepared via dispersion polymerization. DLS and SEM revealed that the particle size decreased and became more uniformly distributed with increasing clay loading. XRD and TEM revealed that nanocomposites at low clay loading yielded exfoliated structures, while intercalated structures were obtained at higher clay loading.

Effects of milking on dairy cow gait 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We studied cows with (n = 6) and without (n = 26) sole ulcers before and after milking to explore how milking influences dairy cattle gait and how this differs for cows with hoof injuries. Video recordings of cows were digitized using motion-analysis software to calculate stride variables for each hoof. Gait was scored using a 1-to-5 numerical rating system (1 = sound, 5 = severely lame) and a continuous 100-unit visual analog scale of gait attributes (back arch, head bob, tracking-up, and reluctance to bear weight). For cows with and without sole ulcers, differences in gait before and after milking were evident; after milking, all cows had significantly longer strides (123.3 vs. 133.5 ± 2.0 cm, respectively), higher stride height (8.3 vs. 8.9 ± 0.1 cm), shorter stride durations (1.49 vs. 1.41 ± 0.03 s), walked faster (0.85 vs. 0.97 ± 0.03 m/s), and had shorter periods of triple support (3 legs in ground contact; 80.0 vs. 71.7 ± 2.0%). Tracking-up and reluctance to bear weight improved after milking (20 vs. 16 ± 2; 20 vs. 15 ± 1, respectively), but numerical rating scores and back arch did not. Cows with sole ulcers walked differently than cows without for all measures, except swing duration, both before and after milking. Interactions between hoof health and milking were found for swing duration and head bob but when tested separately, the only effect was that cows without sole ulcers had longer swing durations before milking (0.45 vs. 0.44 ± 0.01 s, respectively). Gait differences were probably due to udder distention and motivation to return to the home pen. Our results suggest that the most suitable time to assess lameness is after milking when differences between cows with and without ulcers are most evident. 相似文献

Abstract: An integrated population, economic, and water resource model was developed to address sustainable development questions for Botswana. raditionally, water resources planning models have considered the implications of different assumptions of population and economic growth on the sustainability of existing water resources supply; however, this model extends that capability to consider feedbacks from one model component to another. For example, the model has the unique capability to examine implications of changing water‐related diarrhea incidence on the health of the HIV/AIDS population. Investments in water supply and sanitation or in HIV/AIDS medication impact the health and productivity of the population. The water model uses a physically‐based hydrologic rainfall‐runoff model with surface and groundwater components to produce monthly runoff and groundwater recharge at the watershed scale. Botswana is divided into socioeconomic regions, and the water resources infrastructure is characterized by virtual reservoirs in each. The demographic sub‐model is a standard multi‐cohort model that forecasts the population by age, sex, rural or urban residence, education level, and HIV/AIDS status. The economic sub‐model is a computable general equilibrium model with three components: agriculture, non‐agricultural exports, and non‐tradables. The model runs an ensemble of scenarios, including climate change, HIV/AIDS, health, economic, and water conservation scenarios, whose output is probabilistic in nature. The substrate specificity of CPB2.8DeltaCTE, a recombinant cysteine protease from Leishmania mexicana, was mapped by screening a fluorescence-quenched combinatorial peptide library. Results from library screening indicated a preference for Arg or Lys in the S(3) subsite and for hydrophobic residues, both aliphatic and aromatic, in S(2). The S(1) subsite exhibited a specificity for the basic residues Arg and Lys. Generally, the specificity of the primed subsites was less strict compared with the non-primed side which showed preference for Arg, Lys and Ala in S'(1), Arg, Pro and Gly in S'(2) and Lys, Arg and Ser in S'(4). By contrast, a strict preference for the basic residues Arg and Lys was found for S'(3). Overall, there was a trend for basic residues in alternating subsites and smaller residues in the primed sites compared with the non-primed sites. In addition, there were strict requirements for the amino acids in subsites S(3)--S(1). Fluorescence-quenched peptides from the library with the highest on-resin cleavage were resynthesised and their kinetics of hydrolysis by CPB2.8DeltaCTE assessed in solution phase assays. Several good substrates containing the quintessential dipeptide particular to cathepsin-L-like enzymes, -F-R/K-, in P(2) and P(1) were identified (e.g. Y(NO(2))-EKFR down arrow RGK-K(Abz)G, Abz=2-aminobenzoyl; k(cat)K(m)(-1)=4298 mM(-1)s(-1)). However, novel substrates containing the dipeptide -L/I-Q- in P(2) and P(1) were also well hydrolysed (e.g. Y(NO(2))-YLQ down arrow GIQK-K(Abz)G; k(cat)K(m)(-1)=2583 mM(-1)s(-1)). The effect of utilising different fluorescent donor--quencher pairs on the value of k(cat)K(m)(-1) was examined. Generally, the use of the Abz/Q-EDDnp donor--quencher pair (EDDnp=N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)ethylenediamine) instead of K(Abz)/Y(NO(2)) resulted in higher k(cat)K(m)(-1) values for analogous substrates. 相似文献
