Through time domain observation, typical wireless signal strength values seems to exhibit some forms of mean-reverting and discontinuous “jumps” behaviour. Motivated by this fact, we propose a wireless link prediction and triggering (LPT) technique using a modified mean-reverting Ornstein–Uhlenbeck (OU) jump diffusion process. The proposed technique which we refer as OU-LPT is an integral component of wireless mesh network monitoring system developed by ICT FP7 CARrier grade wireless MEsh Network project. In particular, we demonstrate how this technique can be applied in the context of wireless mesh networks to support link switching or handover in the event of predicted link degradation or failure. The proposed technique has also been implemented and evaluated in a real-time experimental testbed. The results show that OU-LPT technique can significantly enhance the reliability of wireless links by reducing the rate of false triggers compared to a conventional linear prediction technique and therefore offers a new direction on how wireless link prediction, triggering and switching process can be conducted in the future. 相似文献

This paper presents a novel approach to the reconstruction of images from nonuniformly spaced samples. This problem is often encountered in digital image processing applications. Nonrecursive video coding with motion compensation, spatiotemporal interpolation of video sequences, and generation of new views in multicamera systems are three possible applications. We propose a new reconstruction algorithm based on a spline model for images. We use regularization, since this is an ill-posed inverse problem. We minimize a cost function composed of two terms: one related to the approximation error and the other related to the smoothness of the modeling function. All the processing is carried out in the space of spline coefficients; this space is discrete, although the problem itself is of a continuous nature. The coefficients of regularization and approximation filters are computed exactly by using the explicit expressions of B-spline functions in the time domain. The regularization is carried out locally, while the computation of the regularization factor accounts for the structure of the nonuniform sampling grid. The linear system of equations obtained is solved iteratively. Our results show a very good performance in motion-compensated interpolation applications. 相似文献

The paper presents a new form of the electrothermal model of the ferromagnetic core for SPICE and the way, in which the parameters of the model are determined. The manner of determining magnetic, geometric and thermal parameters of this model is described. There is continuous pressure on production cost reduction of foil-based capacitors, widely used in domestic appliance. Therefore, investigation of the deterioration mechanisms within capacitors is important to reduce their production costs at maintained reliability. These mechanisms were observed in two capacitors batches of classes Y2 (27 nF) and X2 (470 nF). An acoustic emission signal was observed when the capacitors were polarized by excessive voltage. This signal is induced by partial discharges that can lead to capacitor destruction. Next, the capacitors were aged at elevated temperature and also in presence of excessive polarization. We conclude that the acoustic emission signal can predict deterioration of dielectric insulation resistance in capacitors of class Y2. The observed destruction of capacitor of class X2 is caused mainly by detachment of the sprayed metalized contacts that is induced by overheating during partial discharges sparking. 相似文献

Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide (nanoTiO2) has been reported to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) under UV illumination. In our studies, changes in mechanical properties of human skin fibroblasts, exposed to the oxidative stress induced in the presence of nanoTiO2 and UV light, were studied using atomic force microscopy (AFM). The exposure of cells to the action of ROS was performed at low TiO2 concentration (4 microg/mL) and under illumination with low-intensity UVA (8 and 20 mW/cm2) or UVC (0.1 mW/ cm2). AFM measurements of the cell stiffness were carried out immediately after exposure of cells to the oxidative stress. The data suggest that under illumination with low-intensity UVA nanoTiO2 generates ROS, which, in turn, damage cellular and subcellular structures. This process was detected by AFM as a marked drop in the cellular stiffness of ca. 30-75%, which occurred rapidly, in the time frame of 1 min. The photo-oxidative stress inducing the decrease of cell stiffness was cancelled in the presence of a well-established antioxidant, beta-carotene. The results highlight the sensitivity of AFM to detect early changes in mechanical properties of cells exposed to oxidative stress. 相似文献

The article presents a new idea of the application of polymer track membranes (PTM) for immobilization of a reagent in fiber optic chemical sensors. PTM was made of a poly(ethylene terephthalate) foil (10 μm in thickness, pores of 0.2 μm in diameter). The usefulness of membranes additionally covered by poly(vinyl chloride) was tested in a fiber optic redox titrator. The titrator utilized N,N′-diphenylbenzidine as a reagent which changes its absorbance in dependence on the redox potential. The measuring system is based on a lightemitting diode and a silicon photodiode connected to a bifurcated fiber optic bundle. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common cause of cancer in women and the third in men. The postoperative pathomorphological evaluation of patients with CRC is extremely important for future therapeutic decisions. Although our previous studies demonstrated high galanin (GAL) presence within tumor tissue and an elevated concentration of GAL in the serum of CRC patients, to date, there is a lack of data regarding GAL receptor (GalR) protein expression in CRC cells. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of all three types of GalRs (GalR1, GalR2 and GalR3) within epithelial cells of the human colon and CRC tissue with the use of the immunohistochemical method and to correlate the results with the clinical-pathological data. We found stronger immunoreactivity of GalR1 and GalR3 in CRC cells compared to epithelial cells of the unchanged mucosa of the large intestine. No differences in the GalR2 protein immunoreactivity between the studied tissues were noted. We also found that the increased immunoexpression of the GalR3 in CRC tissue correlated with the better prognosis and longer survival (p < 0.0079) of CRC patients (n = 55). The obtained results suggest that GalR3 may play the role of a prognostic factor for CRC patients. Based on data from the TCGA-COAD project deposited in the GDC Data Portal, we also found that GalR mRNA in cancer samples and the adjacent normal tissue did not correlate with immunoexpression of the GalR proteins in CRC cells and epithelial cells of the unchanged mucosa. 相似文献
