Iron-deficiency-anemia affects 30% of the world population. Women of reproductive age and children are the most affected. Iron supplementation in the form of tablets and syrups has not been successful in developing countries, and iron deficiency is still the most important deficiency related to malnutrition. Iron-deficiency anemia affects physical and cognitive development at an early age in children, often resulting in irreversible outcomes. Studies from the last two decades have shown that the prevalence of iron-deficiency anemia can be reduced given adequate investments and political will directed at iron fortification of foods and liquids. A successful low-cost iron-fortification program incorporates implementation and strategic use of communication for program inception where education is in the forefront. The present study investigated the effect of peeling and cormels weight on physicochemical and rheological properties of taro (Colocasia esculenta) flour. The cormels were divided by the weight into four classes: size?<?170 g, 170?<?size?<?214 g, 214 g?<?size?<?284 g, and size?>?284 g. Each one of these classes contains half of peeled and unpeeled cormels. The results showed a difference between the flour derived from different taro cormels weight in term of the physicochemical, morphological, and rheological properties. However, no difference was observed in terms of the thermal properties. The study revealed that taro flours are mainly made of dietary fibers. The granule size of the flour varied significantly within each different cormels weight in the same method of peeling and the mean flour diameters are around 204 μm. For both form of peeling, potassium was found to be the higher mineral and sodium was the lower one. Concerning phytate, the peeled samples have the lowest values of 5.76 and 4.79 mg/g dry matter, respectively, for cormels size?<?170 g and 170 g?<?size?<?214 g. Information on quenching as a function of electron-hole density through the range of 1019 to 2×1020 e-h/cm3 typically deposited towards the end of an electron track has been acquired using 0.5 ps pulses of 5.9 eV light to excite in the band-to-band or high-exciton region of CsI and CsI:Tl. A streak camera records partially quenched luminescence from self-trapped excitons (STE) and excited activators (Tl+?). Both the Tl+? and STE luminescence exhibit decreasing light yield versus excitation density Nmax, but it is only the 302 nm STE luminescence that exhibits decay time quenching dependent on Nmax. Fitting the STE decay time data to a model of dipole-dipole quenching yields the time-dependent bimolecular rate constant for quenching of STEs (and Tl+? light yield) in CsI at room temperature: k2(t)=2.4×10−15 cm3 s−1/2 (t−1/2). 相似文献

Drawing on interviews with leaders of the effort to promote the 2016 Bernie Sanders U.S. presidential candidacy on social media, this study contrasts the structure and content of various organizational networks to map the hybrid ecosystem of the contemporary digital campaign. While the “official” Sanders organization built applications to transform supporters into a tightly controlled distribution network for its social media messaging, this was complemented by “unofficial” grassroots networks that circulated more informal and culturally oriented appeals.
